Great vid, but one of the pods should have been made out of metal, to use it as a cooking pot if needed.
+FarcryDE & 05Rudey there is already a cook pot in the kit. Did you guys watch the video?
Roger Spinks
Yes I did watch it and I still conclude that one of the pods should be made out of metal, 2 is 1 and 1 is none if the tiny cup that's in one of the pods is damaged in a survival situation.
actually the pods are made out of material that can hold boiling water so if you suspend it over the fire you can boil water, or you can rock boil
@Ultimate Survival Tips Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you considered - Lammywalness Your Dream Guide (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to get a a FREE Edt multitool survival tool without the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate after many years got astronomical success with it.
There's just no pleasing some people.
Thanks for hanging in there. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care Joel! ~David
That quality whistle you were impressed with is the Fox 40 Micro. It's my absolute favorite signal whistle. The Fox 40 pea-less whistle is the official standard referee's whistle for most pro sports. The Micro is even louder than the original. The same one that goes camping with me is one I used for years coaching roller derby. They come in at least 7 different colors and last forever.
That's so cool of you to say... Thanks man. We are always trying to improve... I'm glad you like the layout bro! ~David
Thank you so much for the encouragement! It really means a lot! Have a great weekend bro! ~David
Great review Dave! I was really happy to see that you reviewed this. Keep up the great work.
You must have a blast trying out all the new survival gear. You definitely have some cool videos.
This was a great review. We just survived the Colorado floods and I ordered the wilderness kit today. Thanks!
Reviews just get better and better...keep up the good work! And thanks for the tips :)
David. Thank for all the hard work and reviews. I look forward to seeing all your videos. Keep it up!
You could turn this vid into a drinking game.every time he says kit you drink, you'd be hammered b4 the 5 minute mark
Ghost
I asked for the backcountry kit for christmas
thanks for this great review
Thank you bro! Helps keep the lights on and my wife happy when I have to say up until 2 am editing a video. :) ~David
Welcome aboard! Thanks bro!
Thanks David I love the layout of your reviews! Keep up the good work.
I believe so... GearPods customer service is VERY accessible. They will take care of you for sure. Good company!
Thanks man! Gottcha! Honestly, when we first started, I could not afford much gear to review and someone at Gerber believed in my vision to be a new breed reviewer so they started sending me gear to review... So... that's why we are so Gerber heavy early on... Will still review Gerber gear but not as much. "In the industry?" not sure what you mean. Not in the survival gear industry... I'm just a poor boy, from a poor family... :) But I have have walked a 1,000 miles and have worn many hats.
Checking it out... thanks for the tip!
Welcome aboard! It's gonna be a great ride! It is a system worth looking into, for sure! ~David
I know this is an old video, but I love your videos. They are so helpful and professional.
It's called a Taut-Line Hitch. Very useful knot for tarp shelter building for sure! ~David
Has to be one of my favorite iteams on your channel by far personally. Pleas keep up the amazing work. I am just getting into survival kits, bug out bags. I live in northern Ontario so stuff like this is amazing to have!!!
Glad you enjoyed!
David, congratulations on another well done review. I may have to pick this up in the near future. Keep 'em coming, and thanks!
Finally! Man have i been waiting for this! Awsome as always! Keep up the good work bro :S
to short comments lol..
so what I wanted to say was.. if it dont fit in your pants cargo pocket so you always have it on your person when your out in the wild, then its not a survival kit, then its a bugout kit as in something you grab when disaster strikes and then run for it, but with that said, it makes a great base for a bugout kit as little needs to be added if you wants to keep it as small as possible
this is going to be perfect to go in the truck love it and subscribed!
Thanks man!!! You made me smile! ~David
That sounds like a nice system to have and definitely would be handy for camp outs, or emergencies.
Depends on the situation... I have a custom kit that I made in a belt carry pouch and on an old school military web belt with 2 canteens, I often throw the GearPods of Henry kits in my day pack and for a backup in my BOB is use the GearPods. For a day hike I will often pocket a BG Basic kit.
Thanks man. It's certainly worth considering... Take care bro! ~David
Hello David just wanted to say thank you I just ordered one for 22.99 in Canada hope I'm as impressed as you are thanks for the review keep up the hard work thanks Cody
I have to admit, this really restored my faith in premade kits. I may just get one as a backup (with a few changes of course) but seriously this is quite a well thought out system, i'm very impressed.
This is definitely the best kit out there. thanks man!
Really enjoyed the video, David. Brilliant work as always.
Nice...I've been waiting for this.
Yes... very impressive. Have a great night!
first time i watch one of your videos lad! and you instantly made me subscribe!! best regards from a fellow outdoorsman in Venezuela!! keep up the good work, lets show people not to be afraid of going back to basics :)
Me too!!!!!!
The kit looks so cool!!!
Just purchased a couple of the Survivor Pro's as entry level kits for my grand-daughters. I had started out gathering stuff to put in a Nalgene bottle (as suggested elsewhere), but after reviewing the Gearpods line decided to start with the Survivor Pro's and build out from there with a quality EDC knife, Leatherman Squirt PS4, iTP (now OLIGHT) A3 EOS AAA led light, Frontier water straw, emergency whistle, REI storm matches, Esbit fuel, etc. Great review.
Seems to be a pretty good kit :) Thanks for the review
Yep... you are right... I just threw it in there for an example... I didn't want to chop up a length of paracord... and the braclet showed well... ~David
Thank you very much for doing this. I've been very interested in the Gear Pods system but I don't have the money to test it right now. This was very helpful to see everything laid out like this.
Great video man and very informative! I've seen the gear pod logo around on some vids and the like but never actually found a informative review until now.. Definitely something worth looking into for a variety of applicaitons..
Thanks David! Good Job!
Time for me to start saving up. Thats awesome
thanks for the review, this has got to be one of the most complete survival kit I've seen so far i have the bear gryls basic survival kit and it is missing lots of basic survival gears, thank you for the review
Wow. Thank you.
Ahhh... it's my new friend. Really like this knife. It's the 2013 SCHF10.
The 2013 Schrade SCHF10. I like it!
you would definitely be squared away with this system. with all of the info you provided, i'm impressed. if they are water proof you could stash some and use them as small cache if need be. lots of options. great video.
Good points... it's not for everyone... but like for me... this week was traveling and didn't need the shelter kit so I just unscrewed it and dropped the survival and first aid kits in my pad... easy breezy!
Yeah... you got it bro! I agree! ~David
Really cool design and set up. Insane how much they put into the pods. Thanks for the info David.
best survival kit i have seen in so long and it is so compact that at first i thought it would of wasted allot of space but oh heck no this is awesome
Great video...when things start picking back up for me, I'd like to take a further look into this system!
First time I've heard of this system. Great review. A lot of info. This is way better than the compact bag kits. It's great that you can customize to your own liking. I'm seriously going to look into buying this gear. Thanks again for a great review.
Indeed!
Thanks for the great video David I really enjoyed it, now I have to go check those out :)
The goal of a survival kit is to give you the chance to survive! Practicality is subjective and it depends on what someone needs, since it is customizable. Good review nice product.
Hey man, I love you videos! They are extremely professional and have helped me tremendiously!
Awesome review, this seems to be one of the best premade and redundant ones out there. Just ordered one from your review. Thanks!
Good question. Unfortunately many of the small kits tank out quick as far as expandability and unfortunately they have gaps. You may be better off building your own... I'll do some tutorials this summer on building your own kit. Hope this helps! ~David
Good question... Coming soon!
Yes... you will have to go directly to their website for shipping to Canada. Hope this helps. ~David
Thank you... takes longer... but worth it I think!
Great review, keep up the good work.
I give the kit a five out a five...and also I brought this kit at scouts now everyone thinks I'm the best ever...you rock
Megahhypercat:
Here in the Sonoran desert; there is not that much dead wood unless you want to deal with harvesting the woody ribs of Saguaro cacti.
If you ever had a good fuel efficient alcohol stove you would understand alcohol stoves.
Brasslite Turbo I D is adjustable, can boil or simmer by rotating the sleeve to open or close the air intake holes.
The Turbo I D also has intergrated priming pan, and pot stand, and the stove can burn for an incredible amount of time in simmer mode.
My Ultimate Stove is a side burner that can take tap water to 180 degrees F on 8.5-10 ml denatured alcohol, or a 208 degrees F at my altitude rolling boil on 12.5 ml's CCs.
With it being a side burner no pot stand is needed.
To effectively use an alcohol stove; it helps for the end user to understand how and why they work. Alcohol stoves works by vaporizing the fuel and burning the vapors.
A friend of mine used my MAHALO stove at over 10,000 feet elevation at stampede pass.
You can put fuel on a priming pan to warm up the stove and pot, or adding a ring of carbon felt or fiberglass wick around the stove and prime the wick then lighting the stove is much like lighting a candle.
I know how much fuel was used because I start with 20 or 30 ml's in the stove. Bring the water to temp; blow out the stove and reclaim the unused fuel.
Alcohol is one of the greenest fuels you can use.
It took me over two years to build mine, + way more money than the $130 price tag of the wilderness kit because I broke stuff, upgraded and just didn't like some stuff. This is a good starting point.
HI! Love it and subscribed!
Great review of the GearPODs! I might have to get a couple :-)
Yep!
Thanks Adam!
That looks a great system.
very interesting as all ways.keep teaching and one day it just might sink in.
It will work... definitely use the wind screen. I am going to be reviewing some cool bio mass stoves soon that are portable and use whatever you have to burn... to get water boiling quick..
thanks Storm Taylor, I stand corrected. I must have blacked out or something....my bad! great product and concept again!
This is awesome I am gonna save up for it thanks man keep doing what you do:D.
Well done video, I love that survival pods kit. I really like the way, you test out some of survival gear like the mini stove and explain everything well. Great job, keep it up. Love your channel.
I agree. Yeah... this could hold you over and be a great grab and go... until you have a full BOB! Good idea! ~David
Your videos are extremely professionally done. I enjoy them very much. Thank you for your hard work.
Damn you... I'm going to need to buy this now...
Glad you are happy. :)
Looks like I have another thing to add to my christmas list :D
Guys this is an entire 'survival system' !!!!
I love this !!!!!

Thanks man.
Great review, I will be definitely looking at getting this, would be awesome to have if you don't have a bob ready, this is great system for a grab and go. Great review!
this system is the best ive seen in ages, thanks for the heads up. The video was awesome and although it might be pricey i think the value is well worth it. Its such a simply idea as well. I for one will be looking to pick something up from them
