A chilly breeze tickled the hairs on Jonah's neck as he strolled hesitantly towards the main gate. A guard stood by the entrance on the others side of the rusty fence; his gun pointed at the man's feet. The prisoners heard a sharp echoing sound; the gunshot was felt by every one of the men. No eye was dry that day.
I don't even know what I'm saying... Just testing.
It was a test, and Jonah failed... he doesn't get to join Morgan's club now..

I think the couch set up with the host nearby rather hand behind a table is more of an English thing than a GN thing :) Cordon probably just got that from seeing numerous British chat shows growing up.

I just watched “Flawless” on Netflix with Robert de Niro and Philip Seymour Hoffman. There’s a scene where Hoffmann is trying to teach De Niro how to sing and he does the same thing as Morgan Freeman did with the song “Shirley Shirley”.
So I think Freeman was either channeling that or perhaps the Shirley song.
