It's been known as one of the most disturbing police sketches, and was drawn like that because he was a peeping tom and one victim told police she saw two big eyes through her window. You can't feel safe if you forget what it's like to be scared. I imagine it also has to do with the part of our brain responsible for making up threats? We feel comfortable knowing that our threat response system is working, as such a sense of comfort in knowing we can be scared; there's also just the chemical reaction that some people may enjoy. For those of you who haven't watched or heard of Demon Slayer, here's a little context for you: In their universe, there's obviously demons and, Tanjiro actually has a good sense of smell or smth and can detect demons from the way they smell. The girl in the box, who is also his sister (as already mentioned) is in that box with the bamboo on her mouth because she actually got turned into a demon and since she desintigrates in the sunlight, and because he doesn't want people freaking out about it, he carries her in that box, where she's actually fine in there and she's not all cramped or whatever.
