@@mariuszpudzianowski8400 I've started to notice that. I still have a lot to learn being in the triple digits, but even I can see when some of these lower rated bots that are at or above my skill level randomly blunder in a way that can not be explained in any logical sense.
I played Nelson few times, but he just keep throwing his game away, can anyone please explain why's that?
Nelson started feeling like a joke very shortly after I found this channel, but he's definitely the biggest roadblock for people who don't have anyone teaching them past how the pieces move. I really appreciate how Levy will intentionally play worse moves in complicated positions so that the game runs more similarly to how people who need this content might play.
The waffle house has found its new host
Nelson is also hard as sometimes it seems like he is playing like a 2000 and other times he just blunders a rook.
The issue with Nelson is he follows the top Stockfish's move for the first 8ish moves - well after the Scholar's Mate threat is finished. So basically, he plays at 3200 elo for 8 moves before he's allowed to make a mistake.

@@raghukannan9339 so you beat all the others?
Nelson's got an unhealthy obsession with his queen. In my experience, swapping queens off as soon as you get a chance works pretty well; without his favourite piece, Nelson quickly loses the plot. Just stay solid in the opening, watch out for any queen-related shenanigans he tries, swap queens if you can, and wait for him to blunder. Once he hangs a piece (and he will) he quickly self-destructs.
He blunders it so much when I play him lol
Magnesium Carlos strikes again
This is exactly what I did the first time I played him. After the first 5 moves both queens were gone making it a more simplified game. I beat him on my first but I have been only playing chess for about 5 months.
That’s how I beat him.
So my offer to trade queens after castles was not just "trade to simplify complicated position", but also one of the winning tactics, nice. And exactly, after this and him winning my light bishop he blundered fork to his light bishop and then, the same fork to the dark bishop.
I love how Nelson can play like a grandmaster for 4 moves and then blunder every piece he has
I've played Nelson countless times and lost from foolish blunders even after learning to defend the Scholar's mate. I must say, the criss-cross apple sauce checkmate felt like sweet and swift justice. Thanks for the video 👍
This could be a good series where you take on each BOT in order and show strategies to beat them.

Super helpful Levy! I like that we can practice playing the bots after watching the techniques and really get a handle on how to play them.
I have been stuck at Nelson for months. Your video inspired me to take him on again.
I mean, once you play a couple of games against him, you realise he blunders his queen every game. All you need to do is not get scholar's mated. Keep your defense up and develop pieces.
he's really good with his queen so I always like to swap queens with him when possible. he is pretty bad after he loses it.
I pkayed london system and he blundered
What? No bruh its the opposite. I have never seen him blunder his Queen. I have seen him blunder literally every single piece in his hand to protect that Queen but never his Queen. If you forked his king and his queen he would reprogram himself to resign and let you have the king. Nelson is a the single most deranged chess bot in existance.
'couple games'. Depends on your level starting out. There are a lot of fundamentals to learn against him. Not everyone is a natural 1200 or whatever you think is average chess noob range.

Bro e what 😭😰😱👺
...
This is so good. I’m past this level of play now, but like 3 weeks ago I was being crushed in blitz by early queen players, and so I opted to go back to studying.
I figured I’d play computers and get better and watch more on my favorite openings so far. The problem is: early queen play is not something that gets covered in opening education because opening study just goes over the proper lines and their variations prior to mid-game.**
Well, in my quest to improve I ran into Nelson and was like omg not this again!! More queen nonsense!
So I decided to scour YT, and even your channel, for all the ways to truly punish these types of players. But alas- there was no definitive content for this stuff.
But now you’ve gone and posted exactly what I was needing before! So awesome! And it’s still very helpful bc now I can solidify everything I did manage to learn before to get over that hump.
** side note: a great tip for creating useful content imo would be for you to make vids about each opening again, but instead of the common lines- addressing say, 3-5 main mistakes your opponent might make that end the book lines too early, thus putting them at a disadvantage since the book lines do go on as long as they do for good reason; because if you get a line that isn’t a known variation there is likely a good reason it’s not a variation (it’s punishable by one side or the other).
That’s just something I noticed in my quest to improve at chess: all the content on openings never actually goes over “well black does this in response, because if they did say X, Y, or Z- any of these early deviations from the proper lines can be punished in A, B, and C ways.”
You can find more content like this to help against aggressive early queen attacks by searching for 'wayward queen' attack
Levy, fun content. You did a Nelson bashing a while back but this one was better because you discussed chess technique. You might have last time but I was brand new and prob didn't grasp it like this time. Thanks for simplifying in this manner. Been with ya for 3 years.

Nelson Seems to have gotten much easier lately. Previously I could not beat him at all, but recently I beat him twice after he blundered his queen both times.
@Donelle Reed - perhaps you are getting better!
I know they sometimes do tweaks here and there which may affect the perceived difficulty. One thing to be aware of - the bots are easier to beat on the phone than through a browser.
@@steven631764 - Oh, why is that? I play on my tablet using the app - haven't tried using the browser on a PC - but I can't think why there would be a difference - can you elaborate please?
@@honeychurchgipsy6 That was my feeling after having played against bots on my phone and then on my pc through the browser. I could be wrong about there being a difference.
Assuming that the chess engine used to generate moves for the bots runs locally (on the device and not their servers) which I believe is the case, then one device may be able to look at a greater depth in the same amount of time. So if they're set to run for a certain period of time each move then one will come up with better moves than the other. Probably the developers would try to even them out, thus the engine may run a bit longer on the 'weaker' engine. But they may limit how long the engine can run to keep it more responsive to the user.
You should take what I said with a big grain of salt. Of course you can test for yourself. Play 100 games against a bot using one device then 100 against the same bot on the other device. Then compare win rates. That could take a while... 😄
Def did. He got nerfed hard
Wow... this... this taught me a lot. Not just about bearing Nelson, but also about countering early quen plays.
You can immediately punish the early Queen attack if playing as White in a better way
1. e4, e5
2.Nf3, Qf6
3. Bc4, Qh6
4. Nxe5, Qg5
5. Qf3, Qxe5 (this does give up a knight but you immediately get back material)
6. Qxf7+, Kd8
7. Qxf8+, Qe8
8. Qxg7
You can just play it by ear from here, because this is when the bot's moves start to differ between games but it's very easy to beat him after this sequence of moves, just have solid principles and don't blunder anything
Levy thank you for your videos you speak so clearly so everybody can understand what you say and mean. Thank you for helping us improve at chess while having fun watching your videos❤
I got out of there and went and crushed Nelson. Nice to have my Country represented! 🇿🇦
Very instructive video! Especially for beginners, I remember when I started playing chess at ELO 7-800 level I often met oponents with this playing style brining out the Queen early trying to trick you with some simple opening tricks. And they suceeded quite often.
3 things about Nelson:
1. Avoid scholars mate
2. Take blundered queen
3. Take forked rook with knight

How to destroy Nelson
Step 1: Call Mittens
What's interesting about Nelson is that you do NOT want to Queen trade early or even midgame, as he actually plays quite competently without a queen, and you're without one. he plays quite a lot higher than 1300 anyways.
The goal is either to take it for free (obviously) or more likely make it irrelevant.
Man still uploads the best contant for us after 2 years HUGE respect 🙏
Levy went for the principled 1. e4 e5 2. Qh5 Nc6 answer to the early queen attack, which is the best and probably the easiest way to meet it.
But there's also a funny gambit where you instead play 1. e4 e5 2. Qh5 Nf6, giving up the e5 pawn for development and initiative. It even has a funny name, "Kiddie Countergambit".
I like 1... d5 against Nelson, because he still plays 2. Qh5, then 2... Nf6 attacks the queen and defends the pawn on d5. Can usually win the e pawn that way and get a nice strong center.
As a new player, I learned quickly that Nelson’s queen attack was tough. Thanks so much for this video! I am going to go get revenge!
I haven't played chess in 12 years, Just discovered your channel recently. Love your narrations and teachings. I actually beat Nelson my first time playing again and i never really considered myself a good player but I guess i do have something.
What a great theme for a video. I currently trying to make myself feel playing comfortable to play against such opponents! Also i would like to see how computer like stockfish would play in certain positions where you questioned whether to play simple or hard way
It’s great to have this more beginner oriented content for people like me that know little-to-no theory!
Just wanna express a theory I thought of involving mittens:
Basically the bot M3GAN was originally rated 850 elo but out of nowhere a few days ago she gained 200 elo by defeating 2 of the lower rated cat bots as they posed as rivals to the player. This means the M3GAN is most likely against chess bots beating the player, so my theory is that after some time M3GAN will slowly defeat the remaining 3 cat bots (including mittens) and reach a level of playing strength above, even, mittens and therefore will act as the new most powerful chess bot, who will most likely ace as the next Mittens but be even stronger
Too bad I already whooped her ass. But credit for her actually playing somewhat like a 1k rated player not like other bots who have 1k+ ranking but play like 500s.
If that’s true it’ll be a bit of a shame that Mittens gets usurped by a movie ad
@@TheWizerd64yeah I’d be disappointed
I was wondering where that came from. Im like ok “creepy bots”, and this one isn’t a cat. Thanks for pointing out its the title and character from a movie. Wow I’ve been living under a rock I guess.
@@TheWizerd64 If they do that they'll lose the hype. M3gan isn't going to catch on like Mittens.
