I love the old sansui.s, I bought a 1969 era 4000 for 20 bucks at a yard sale I'll never sell it ! Bought a set of klipsch heresey's that were cherry off eBay and paired em with a pair of sansui 2000 speakers unreal sound next about a 400 watt klipsch powered sub
I have the 8080DB. However I prefer the 2000X sound. How I wish Sansui got a hybrid of 2000X FM radio reception and sound BUT in the body of 7070. The 8080 is a bulky unit. Ordinary cabinet cannot contain the beast.
I used to think the x000 series was ugly but it’s really grown on me. I have a 2000x as well and its become one of my favorites in sound and looks. Some of the best things in life are acquired tastes.
Although functioning, I don’t think that unit has been fully recapped. Either that or the speakers you have aren’t the right match for it. I could be wrong, but that’s what I’m hearing. Not bad though, by any means.

I have 2 of these... they are great. Lots of meaty, 8 ohm power.

Do a softer release on the loudness and adjacent buttons. Punching and snapping them in and out is too harsh on the mechanism creating long term wear.
