Jonathan Dockins "Driving" Amtrak # 6 Make A Wish At Auburn

Jonathan was talking on the radio to UP Dispatcher 74 getting Warrants to proceed up to Sparks today while passing through Auburn Calif on his way up over Donner Pass, he is 8 years old. Read more, I hesitated and held camera still on the train when I looked up at the cab to see Jonathan waving at me there, missed that precious shot, but I saw him in the side window first hand. This Month, June 20-22, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, in partnership with West Coast Railroaders Group, Amtrak, and the Virginia & Truckee railroad, along with BLE Division 144 will host a special wish for an 8 year old boy from Jackson, Missouri. Jonathan has a serious heart condition, and loves trains. His wish was to ride the head end over Donner pass on Amtrak's California Zephyr. His wish will be granted starting Friday, June 20th. Jonathan will board Amtrak #6 at Sacramento, and ride to Reno in the cab of the locomotive. Jonathan and his family will then spend the weekend on the Virginia & Truckee railroad. Saturday Jonathan will ride the cab of the steam train, and Sunday he will ride along on vintage track cars providing fire patrol behind the steam train.
