    I sometimes use a foam gun for the purpose you stated. Lubrication. If you wash your coated car weekly, or even every 2 weeks, a foam cannon should not be needed. The foam gun serves the same purpose, as neither gun or cannon will remove road film for the most part. Only hand washing will do that. Of course if you drive in mud or gravel roads, that's a different story. I use the foam gun on mine to remove loose stuff, rinse it, then foam it again and hand wash. But I am lazy, that beats dragging the pressure washer out of the shed at the tender age of 72

    Another great video. I use a pump sprayer for wheels when I do them separately, but a foam cannon for pre-washes. I've had success with replacing the stock orifice with
    a 1.1 mm Foam Cannon Orifice -- the smaller opening produces a thicker foam. Only a few US dollars from Amazon.

    Hi Pan, great video. I use a Marolex pump sprayer just for the wheels, and Bilt Hamber Autofoam in an AutoGlym foam cannon. The Adams foam is thick, but the real test is how well it cleans. Also it looks like the Adams would take a lot of rinsing to clear the car…..and the driveway too! BH foam cleans brilliantly and doesn’t linger on the driveway either. If you have access to a pressure washer, can’t see a use for a foam gun.

  • @ohboy2592
    @ohboy2592 Před rokem +9

    I’ve had a foam gun for two years and love it. I don’t need a foam cannon since my cars are washed weekly and I don’t want to drag out the pressure washer every time I wash the car. I don’t get quite the foam as a cannon but I like the fact the foam I get flows off the car a little more quickly removing some particles that I may not have with the pre rinse. I also get more foam with my gun than you did with yours. I can also fill my gun and get 4 washes out of each fill.

    Hey Pan, I appreciate all the videos and how detail oriented you are. Definitely helped me learn how to properly care for my car. I have the Adam’s foam cannon and don’t produce a thick foam like that though. I’ve used the amount of soap recommended on the bottle (Carpro reset and gtechniq citrus foam) and have even tried double the amount of soap. I have it set to max foam and use a green works pressure washer with the garden hose connected to it. Could it be just because of the type of water?

      You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
      There are many factors that influence the quantity, thickness and richness of snow foam:
      1. Type of foam cannon (smaller orifices lead to thicker foam, but can potentially trip your circuit breaker depending on your setup)
      2. Type of pressure washer (a higher amount of GPM water output leads to more foam, so a pressure washer with 1.3 GPM will produce less foam than one that pumps out 2.1 GPM)
      3. Type of snow foam (not all snow foams produce the same amount of foam)
      4. Dilution ratio of snow foam (adjust the dilution according to your setup. Start with the recommendations on the label, and increase the amount as needed).
      5. Water quality. The better the water, the more foam and suds you get. So deionized water will always produce more foam compared to hard tap water, for example.

    Thanks for another great video, Pan I have a question, I've recently switched to turtle wax to the max wax and the pure shampoo. The wax gives beautiful results, after a week the car was lightly dusty and I gave the first wash, hydrophobics was the best I've ever seen on my car, however after washing, when I rinse it seems those hydrophobics have deteriated or changed. It did the same with the ultimate line of meguiar's, I put it down to the shampoo was not a pure shampoo and had waxes in it.
    Could this be normal? Or should hydrophobics last for the reasonable duration of a wax?

    • @PanTheOrganizer

      I prefer the Graphene Flex Wax in that range of products. It lasts a lot longer. But your question is hard to answer as I don't know what prep you did prior to applying your layer of Max Wax. The Turtle Wax Slick N Slide shampoo is a pure shampoo, it doesn't contain any protection in it. So it just cleans, which is what I prefer. I don't like protection infused shampoos as much.

      A rinseless wash will be more for encapsulating loose dirt and adding lubrication before you pre-rinse the vehicle. A proper cleaning snow foam like Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam or CarPro Lift will actually start breaking down grime and traffic film, which a rinseless wash doesn't do.

    Sir, what is the best psi or bar pressure washer you recommend for getting good foam from a foam Cannon ?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před rokem

      PSI isn't as important as water output (GPM). The higher the GPM the more foam you get. I set my pressure washer to 1100 psi when washing cars, but it pumps out a stout 2.1 GPM of water, which is more than most electric pressure washers on the market.
      Anything between 1000 to 2000 psi is good for washing cars, and you want 1.3GPM or more of water output. But there are more factors than just the pressure washer for getting good foam. The type of foam cannon, type of snow foam, dilution ration of snow foam and water quality (hard water vs deionized water) are all factors that impact the quality and quantity of foam you get.

    I'm curious how much of an effect garden hose water pressure has on foam gun foam thickness. My hose is hooked up to a hydrant that comes off the service going into my home (~150 psi) before the pressure is reduced inside my home. Will the higher pressure give a thicker foam. Are foam guns designed to handle 150 psi? Thanks! Jack

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před rokem

      More than pressure, it's the water output (GPM) that generates the most foam. For example, on a pressure washer, you could have a unit pushing 2000 psi but only @ 1.3 GPM. You could have another pressure washer that pushes 1000 psi but at a much better 2.1 GPM water output. Well the second pressure washer will always generate richer, thicker foam.

    • @VolleyballNow1
      @VolleyballNow1 Před rokem

      @@PanTheOrganizer Ok, so translating that to the garden hose with a foam gun and assuming a 3/4"x100' foot hose, a water pressure of 60 psi = ~20gpm and @150psi = ~40gpm. From your description, the higher flow (at the higher pressure) would yield a richer, thicker foam. I'm sure the actual flow through the foam gun would be restrictive, but in principle am I understanding your reply correctly?

      Also, as my Porsche is my daily driver, I need all wheel drive for our harsh Canadian winters. And the PDK is the best automatic on the planet.
      So for all those reasons, I think you understand how my 911 Turbo S is the perfect pick for me and my needs. I absolutely love this car.
      I am done driving manual cars. I understand those who like it, but I used to like it at 20 years old. Not for daily use at 42 hehe.
      But is the GT3 a great car? Of course. It’s a Porsche. Even a Cayman or Macan are great vehicles.
      Cheers!

      No doubt Pan, I've test drove a Turbo S and the acceleration is so strong with launch control, it can give you a head rush.
      By the way I pick up my new 2023 GR Corolla on Monday.
      I want to ceramic coat it myself.
      I will wash it, then chemical decontamination with Iron remover, then clay bar it, then polish and prep wipe and finally ceramic coat it.
      What products would you recommend I use?
      I have a Porter Cable da polisher.
      What Foam pad? Which Polish?
      Thanks.
      Enjoy.

    Hey Pan! Would rain water be a good substitute for deionized water to wash cars?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před rokem +1

      No. Rain water has minerals in it, and depending on where you live, other contaminants. Nothing beats deionized or reverse-osmosis water to wash cars.

    Pan you are spot on. Keep it fun for us.
    My water supply changed a few years ago from a well to water supplied by our township. Well water was very poor quality with minerals, and town water was much much better. Way better foam.
    Thanks for cool video!

      Thanks Kim! Yeah, the better the water quality, the more foam and suds you get for sure.

    That gardenhose "foam gun" produces less foam than a wrung out sponge. That was pathetic.👎
    Obviously, a foam cannon on a pressure washer is still the way to go.👍👍
    Thanks, Pan. Good job.

    11:32 Does the gun come with a (female) quick connect adapter to screw onto your hose so that you can connect it to the (make) quick connect fitting on the gun, or do you need to buy one?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před 5 měsíci

      It comes with everything you need to connect it to your garden hose. See what it comes with here: amzn.to/3NIcQlm

    I use both. Foam cannon first then foam gun as my bucket wash w microfiber pads. No two bucket much faster w the gun as the contact wash.
