Hello all colleagues, here again I want to compare two of my keyboards that I like to carry around for gigging, service or other jobs, namely Roland Go Keys 3 & Casio CT-S400. Actually, both of them are entry level keyboards, I even bought the Casio CT-S400 for my son for his extracurricular activities but it turns out it's okay to take with me to work 😁
It's better to just go straight to the conclusion, the Casio CT-S400 with its AIX sound generator technology is very suitable for support when performing, the sound has improved a lot, quite updated & more realistic than other types of keyboards in the same price range, so the price vs performance is very appropriate In fact, you could say that consumers win a lot 😁 although maybe some people choose the CT-S1, the CT-S400 has a screen that is quite bright & clear, built-in rhythm style, layer capability with volume that can be adjusted, easy to save sound with easy call just press 1 button under the screen, etc. In my opinion it is easier to use. But there's a but, hehehe... overall the sound quality is still below that of the Roland Go:Keys 3, there are some that match it but there is still the default sound from the previous type which in my opinion is not yet in the pro category. Go:Keys 3 also brings rhythm styles with up to 4 variations compared to the CT-S400 which only has 2. For our favorite sounds that have been edited, in Go:Keys 3 you can rename them, whereas on the CT-S400 you have to remember first, what sound is this? Yes, because the name isn't displayed on the screen. The solution is that we can memorize or make notes for our favorite sound 1, favorite sound 2, and so on. For connections, the CT-S400 also has an aux input using a cable, while the Go:Keys 3 only relies on Bluetooth. But for me personally, I have to admit that the CT-S400's key action is better than the Go:Keys 3, which makes it easy for me to "slip" even though usually I can adapt to various types of keys such as Korg mini keys, Korg Kronos heavy keys, etc. On Go:Keys 3 I feel like I'm "struggling" to play, especially the parts of the song that require finger speed. Maybe this can be subjective because each player's fingering is different, but that's my experience when using it. The weight of both is similar at around 4.5kg. Finally, for those who care about the keys, you can choose the Casio CT-S400, while those who prioritize sound quality can choose the Roland Go:Keys 3 👍

Nice video! The Roland Go Keys 3 is closer to the Casio CT-S500 for price range, that might make an even better comparison!

Thank you! I also thought about buying CT-S500 but I already have CTX5000 & CT-S400 😁 besides that I also need some Roland sounds since some of my Roland boards have been sold, maybe later I will sell both Casio boards tp fund the CT-S500, but now I still feel comfortable with those 2 boards that complement each other 😊

Hi! Great video! Specifically about key action, I'm looking for a portable keyboard that mimics the graded hammer action of a real acoustic piano. Between the Casio CT-S400 or CT-S500 and the Roland GO:KEYS 3 or 5, which one do you prefer? Thanks!

    • @ochisalat
      @ochisalat  Před měsícem

Unfortunately none of them are having graded hammer action, they only have synth action. As for me, I really prefer the key action of Casio, Roland GO:KEYS 3 key action feel weird to my fingers at the first time, I often hit wrong notes & don't get me wrong, I also have Roland XPS30 & BK5 which I don't have the same problem whenever I play them. But now I'm quite adapt to the key action, I'm hoping that I'll get better 😁

I really like this video and the combination you are demonstrating. I think the "best" combination would be the Casio CT-S1 with the Go:Keys (3 or 5). Roland's Zen-Core sound engine is spectacular for synths, pads, organs, etc. However, Zen-Core is not good for acoustic pianos (and pretty poor for EPs too). The CT-S1 has terrific-sounding acoustic and EPs and a better key action for playing those sounds too. Here in the US we can purchase the CT-S1 AND Go:Keys 3 for $460 USD. What an incredible bargain!

Great! I agree that it will be an awesome combination 👍 however I haven't played CT-S1, I had a few chances to buy one in a good condition within great price, but the user operation is what pull me off, I guess I'll have difficulties in layering sounds, saving favorites, also no display, etc so when CT-S400 with AIX sound engine was out than I think that product is more fit to my musical needs 😊

@@luizgomesrn I got the Casio Ct-S1000v which is pretty much the same as the s500. It’s pretty good, has DSP features so you can edit the sounds on the keyboard, like EQ/reverb etc. And you can sample sounds from other keyboards/Music apps. The Go keys 3 has more sounds and patches for live performances though. I might get the Go-Keys 3 just to have both. I recommend you to read the manuals for both keyboards.

I agreed with your assessment. The Roland Go Key 3/5 definnitely has better overall sound set and features. However it's keybed is terrible. If you are traditional keyboard player, playing songs/melody in live setting like jazz/worship/cover band, Casio CTS range is better. In fact Casio now has one of the best light keybed on the market. Roland Go Key is more suitable for bedroom/studio producer making Dance/pop music. Yamaha PSR EW425 I think is better value in between these rwo if you dont mind the Yamaha sound. It also has excellent features, built in USB audio and great speaker. If you want more sounds, use any audio apps on iphone/ipad, or Audio Evolution Mobile app on Android with 3rd party soundfont. You wil get much better value keyboard. Alternately, buy a secondhand Roland Juno DS.

Yes, that is what I've experienced when I first played the Go Keys 3, I often hit wrong notes & somehow struggling to play dynamically 😓 Fortunately, things are going better now, I can adapt to those key action although I still have to remind my self to play that keybed in certain way in order to sound correctly! The Casio is much better, feel spongy (in a good way) & there is no problem about pressing the keybed dynamically (they respond very well) but the sounds still need some upgrades 😊

Have you tried/own (any of you) the Korg Liano?
I saw several people online saying that it has one of the best keybeds too, one piano/keyboard reviewer says that he feels like the Korg Liano has the best semi-weighted action, even better than the Yamaha CK61 keybed and the Casio CT-S1 keybed = Casio CT-S400 keybed.
The Korg Liano has a built in audio interface too, has 88 semi-weighted keys, and it is only 6.2kg.
Do you plan to revied the Korg Liano and particularly its keybed compared to keybeds like your Casio CT-S400 and other semi-weighted keybeds?
Thank you for your help, and for your cool playing, I hope you have a nice day!

CTX3000 sih bisa favorit sistem pencet & keluar nama soundnya, tapi dimensi bodinya lumayan besar & lebih berat
