    I have a 1997 XP... My winter Project is restoring it to all original (OEM). I bought it with a blown engine it literally had a blown out case by the the balance rod where the gear meets the Crank. It had LITTLE to no oil in the case and hull.. after i diagnosed, it the oil pump had failed! Ive been researching over the last 4 months on how to rebuild the motor, I know how to do it just buy reading the manual, but i LOVE Visuals! THANK YOU for this! this is the BEST VIDEO on youtube for the 787!!!! this will help me when i go to reassemble once all my parts come in.

    I must say you have an awesome looking shop bench and floor!! There is no way I could wrench on something that nice looking!
    I’m getting prepared to tear into my 787 (previous owner said it didn’t have any spark and that’s why it doesn’t run) I hit the button and hear “clunk” and can feel the starter is making that sound… unfortunately if you try to put a pipe wrench on the drive shaft it does not budge either direction… I’m thinking locked up motor…

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  Před 3 lety

      Sounds like its locked and will need a full rebuild

      @@TodayWeWrench dug down into it and PTO piston seized on wrist pin, stator piston scared all up on the side... amazingly? The rings are on both pistons and head looks good... going to pull it the rest of the way out and crack the case... can't wait to see what's inside.... kinda like Christmas morning when you've been bad all year long!

    Big info...
    How did you hold the crank to get the flywheel nut off

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  Před 3 lety

      This crank was stuck but if your engine is spinning over freely, stuff a rag in the exhaust port of one of the cylinders before removing anything on the top end.

    • @matt.squarebody5427
      @matt.squarebody5427 Před 3 lety

      If engine is already pulled apart you can also put a pipe through the rods keeping them from turning over

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  Před 3 lety

      @@matt.squarebody5427 No you will risk damaging the rods. If your going to replace the crank assembly its fine but if you are going to try and reuse your crank, reinstall one piston and one cylinder wedge a rag in it to safely bind it.

    I did a 787 jet boat build and was not able to properly mimic the gravity feed oil injection so I deleted it.
    Do you know if those engines CIRCULATE crankcase oil or does it just kind of sit in there and never circulate?
    The way I have it it just sits in there since the injection was deleted but maintained the lower case hoses with oil and im feeling like every few years Id like to somehow suck out the old oil and put in new...

  • @thelord7471

    I have a problem with extremely high compression in my 787. One cylinder at 150psi while the other one is at 270psi?! I don't think it's the gauge because 150 should be perfectly fine.
