  • I heard so many positive comments about Edinburgh, Scotland, that I decided to see this city myself, and ask Giulia and Katherina (Kakibot) about living expenses, job opportunities, people, pros and cons of living in Edinburgh and so many other questions to help me decide whether I'd like to live there in the future.
The purpose of this video is to also help you decide where you want to move next. That's why I'm sharing my interviews with you all, hoping to cover the essential information you might want to know about a city.

    🐻 About Me:
My name is Anica and I was born and raised in Italy, Rome in 1998. I'm originally from Bangladesh and I've been living in the UK for 6 years, so you could say I'm multinational. I'm studying Adult Nursing at the University of Nottingham, but I'm probably going to be like those people who study something but end up doing something completely different as a career.
    ✈️ My CZcams Project:
It's a research about me travelling to explore, interview people and tell you about life satisfaction and living expenses of different cities across the UK. This is so that I can find the right place to live. I hope this project helps you to decide where you want to live next too.

@@jennagartland5838 People here act like there is no covid. Thats why uk has alot of cases. There is suppose to be a national lockdown right now but if you go outside there isnt because people dont care and kids are just treating it like they on vacation. So if you wanna get infected you are feel free to do so.

@@jennagartland5838 my experience has been mostly positive. In my area people tend to follow the rules, but of course you’ve got idiots everywhere. I feel that when schools shut down, things feel calmer. Like I said in the initial comment, I moved from London, so my former experience is that of a very busy city - Edinburgh feels much, much easier to live with Covid than London would!

I have relocated from Manchester to Edinburgh in December 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. It might be more expensive, but if you will get a job which will pay you that difference in expenses, you will see you will be fine. I live in the very city centre and it's the best place i ever lived in the UK. I walk everywhere and it takes me 30 minutes to walk to almost all city centre spots and beyond to nature places like Holyrood Park or Blackford Hill. And it's true - Edinburgh is beyond spectacular in Autumn.

Most people from Edinburgh can't actually afford to live in Edinburgh. My favorite city in the world to spend summers. Haven’t gone since COVID came along, so eager to get back soon. People are friendly, it’s safe, and filled with conveniences. Not my favorite place when the festivals are on bc it’s harder to get around. So, for long-term living, I would choose to live just outside of the city.

My ancestors were Scottish and I can relate to her description of the Scottish people. There are similar behaviors in the rural southeastern United States. Many Scottish immigrants settled there and still help others like she described. I wish I had spent a year in Scotland when I was younger and healthier. I’m glad these young ladies are there and enjoying life.

Plus my grandparents are from the UK which helps with visas and possibly a dual citizenship. I’ve traveled all over the world and Edinburgh is the most laidback city with truly amazing people.

I’ve lived in the US since I was 3 years old (I’m 20 now) but I’m not a citizen or legal resident. For several years now with everything going on, I’ve thought I wanted to move to either Canada or the UK. Now I have a long distance girlfriend who’s a UK citizen and she lives in Scotland. I want to move there in the next couple years, not just for her but for myself. I’m going to finish my bachelor’s degree here in the USA and I plan on moving afterward. Hopefully the process isn’t too hard for me. Seeing videos like these help motivate me to work hard

I emigrated to Edinburgh from usa in 1987 and my very first impressions of living in a magical land have not faded. Thanks for reminding me of what I love about this city. Ironically I now live mostly in Prague but cannot bear to lose my connection to Edinburgh; until COVID I would visit 4-6 times a year and I maintain my flat. (On calton hill, which I utterly agree is one of Edinburgh’s enchanting locations !)
PS to Katerina- having moved the opposite direction I totally agree with your comments! As much as I love prague and Czechs, I miss Scotland - have been victim of attempted robbery 3 times in Prague, and find the people while friendly to be more negative.

11:44: "During the Fringe, lot of people who are like me, get very angry" - exactly, Katarina! I hate all the extra noise pollution and the crowds that the Fringe is bringing to Edinburgh. They keep saying the city is benefiting hugely from the Fringe... Yes, the businesses (especially the hospitality industry) are benefiting, but not the ordinary residents. And btw: if the city is REALLY hugely benefiting from the Fringe - it would be nice for Edinbugh residents, for example, not to pay any Council Tax in August. To have the Festival month tax-free. Then every Edinburgh resident would feel the benefit and appreciate the Festival more.

It literally like football… I was born bred in Glasgow have lived up north where my dad was from… I’m close to a football stadium none famous and crowd of people bar folk triples our streets are filled with strangers cars n middle of the night even 3am ppl talking loud drunk back to cars. Luckily for us area i]has out a stop to cars filling streets here during football days. I rem when I was younger I was training Jon near a famous stadium we got out late at night I had only my subway ticket return no money n lived miles away n I was refused to enter the subway by police so fans can use it. I had to walk home at 11pm at night through doggy streets roads for hours. After a long exhausting day work. I hate football. Ppl n it’s citizens should be priority esp when we young women without much money in a bad area at late hours of night trying to get home exhausted after work. Public transport should only be for citizens not fans they should get a city bus for fans to drop them home.
I rem when I visited Edinburgh with my family in the 90s it wasn’t busy place but now it is full to the brim with tourist. If they all come for Harry Potter then that makes it worse.
