  • Reuploaded again in beautiful 50fps. Fixed a lot of the audio issues in the first quarter and added a scoreboard in. I also cut a lot of extra bits to make this package a bit more streamlined. Please enjoy these extended highlights of the 1967 VFL Grand Final. This grand final was one of the most important matches in the development of Australian Rules, a key step during the birth of the modern game. A tight and tense match in its own right, the pace and skills on display in this match was on a new level never seen before. The lackluster and scrappy brand of football common in the 50s and 60s was completely washed away during this game, and was hardly seen ever again.

Any chance of a full replay of this match? One of the greatest grand finals of all time and one of the few that we can not get a full replay of!

Interesting the 'New Stand' end. Subsequently named the Ponsford Stand, i guess it hadn't been named at this point. perhaps it was named when the cricket season started a few weeks later.

It was originally called the Western Stand & opened in '67. Wasn't called the Ponsford stand until the '80s.

Love the commentators getting mad at the umpire for breaking up a fight 😂

Had to laugh at Teddy Whitten after a soft free saying it's a man's game early in the game 😄

The umpiring was shite...no different to today. Goal umpiring was hopeless talk about out of position for tight calls. Swift was over and gee you would love to see where Sharrocks foot was when the GU said touched through. The freekick against Farmer to Ronaldson was BS . It seemed Richmond scored a number of goals from FK's that were timely. Bartlett showed glimpses of what was to come...Goggin also showed class...Barrott sensational and overall I think Richmond lucky to get home but deserving winners. The drop kicking by both sides was great to watch. West and Swift especially...better GF than 89 in my view by the length of Flemington strait.

polly complained for years the fred swift mark was over the line and it cost cats a flag. if it was given a goal it still wouldn't have put cats in front, with only 10 seconds left it really didnt matter.

Cats kicked 2.8 in the last with a few more out of bounds. Cooked their own goose. Polly also gave away a few needless frees.
