Nice! I think this might be my favorite of all of your creations. I could easily see this in the corners of a restaurant or club, and I'd imagine a commercial version would be in the $1000 range per corner.
Thanks so much!! I appreciate the support. When I first got interested in LEDs about a year ago, your videos were the first ones I watched. Thanks for all your amazing content!
I love the fact that you explain how you do every step in detail - what wire goes where, what size bits. THis looked really cool, I wonder if it would be stackable over the old light you had, so one panel is doing an effect and this one is doing something else, but since it is the tubes you can still see what the panels behind them are doing. Or that might just be too much!
Thanks so much and I'm glad you like it! I often wonder if I go into too much detail but I'm glad it sounds like you don't mind it! I am curious how that would look now that you mention it! I might have to try it at some point! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Very rarely do I hit upon a random video and hit subscribe, but this one got me! I need to build something like this, and have very little skills, and this incredibly clear, short video does a great job of laying it all out. Well done!!
Thanks so much! Glad you stumbled upon it and thanks for your support! Let me know if you have any questions!
Chris your projects are so awesome, thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much!! Glad you are enjoying them. Thanks for watching!!
The LED magician is back at it again. Well done Chris! I hope you are getting some awesome sponsorships lined up with your quick growing following and killer content.
Thanks Dustin! Maybe someday!!
I dig it! I've got a two story wall of windows in the new house and was planning on running a single strip of SK6812s on either side in a standard aluminum corner channel with diffuser, but I think I like this more!
I like your new/original/creative ideas, man 👍
Thanks so much and I appreciate the love! Always fun to try something new and see how it turns out! Let me know if you have any questions!
Brake cleaner will take off the print from the Pex tubing without damaging the tubing. Quick and easy. Also, Thank you for everything. I've learned a lot from you and am loving the ESP32 with WLED and LedFX on all my lighting now. You're awesome! Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much for tips and thanks so much for watching! Glad you are liking the videos! Dang that sounds like a nice setup you made! I still want to play around with LedFX at some point!
Simply Amazing… I have watched this three times❤️ I’m gonna try this. Thank you for the wonderful and inspirational videos
Thanks so much for watching! lol 3 times! Hope it turns out good! Let me know if you have any questions!
Really cool design idea! Wondering around Home Depot looking for ideas can get expensive. I recently built a coffee table just because I saw some wood there.
hahaha I literally laughed out loud when I read this! I've walked out of home depot before thinking "what have I done" as I'm pushing a cart full of things I don't need.

amazing project man, the result is insane
Love it Chris you are so Creative thank you for sharing your skills with us
Thanks Valerie!! Your way too kind. Thanks for support and for taking the time to comment. I appreciate the love!
That’s brilliant, fantastic effect!!
Thanks as always! Glad you think so. It was a fun little project and not too difficult! Thanks for watching!
Your LED projects are incredible man.
Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoy them as they are for sure fun to make!! Thanks for the support buddy!
That's awesome just how good it looks for how simple it is to do. I've been looking for a way to put strip light in weird wall angles (greater than 90 degrees) while remaining diffused. This might just be the ticket!
Thanks buddy!! Glad you like it and glad it gave you some ideas! Thanks for watching!
Great work! I ordered some WS2812B strips to build some DIY Hue Signe's but this looks far better.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you liked the project! ws2812b lights are the best! good luck on your project! Sounds epic!
This is a great one. It would look stellar with the sound reactive fork of WLED i bet.
Thanks so much and someday i'm going to try to incorporate the sound reactive stuff. I also think it would look pretty cool!!
Nice design. You have really good ideas. Love your work!
Thanks so much and I'm glad you liked it! Appreciate the support and thanks for taking the time to comment!
nice vibe and look of the light
Very clever design & well explained. I am looking at creating some lighting for a church stage back drop & at home.
So will probably use this idea for certain areas. Many Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching and glad you liked the video! Its a fun hobby! You are very welcome and thanks for taking the time to comment!

Incredibly cool idea!!
Thanks so much buddy! Glad you liked it. Appreciate the support and thanks for taking the time to comment!
This one is really creative! Adding the curves really makes it look unique. I need to start walking slowly through Home Depot more often. But I lack the creativity, so I'll just wait for your videos. Cheers!

Thanks Rob!! Glad you liked how it turned out. lol if you walk slow enough, ideas will come. At least that has been my experience. Thanks for watching!
Sick clock! Someday I want to try making something like that.
really clever idea. looks super cool
Thanks so much!!
Super duper creative. A great use for 30 per meter strips. And tubing!
that looks incredible!! fantastic creativity!!

Thanks so much!! Appreciate the support buddy!
Damn Chris! This is really amazing. Some of your projects simply can't be done by person's like me, who don't have those tools you've got. But this one...anyone can make it! And that's what I like! Brilliant idea and I love to go to the shop and lock myself up to make this one. I think I'll paint the wood black... But yes, like others: where is that massive poweradapter in the room? Great post
czcams.com/video/waw0OyeylvM/video.html
Thanks Dennis!! Glad you liked the project. It was simple and a fun one. Painting the wood black would look super nice against the white pex tubing. Lol yeah all I did to hide the power unit was put it behind that little table with drawers thts in front of it. Luckily I have a wall outlet right there as well. Thanks for watching!
A tip from a carpenter; for your center lines, or any straight parallel lines for that matter, you can put the pencil where it needs to be and slide the speed square along the edge, pushing the pencil down the surface. Much easier than making dots and holding such a long straight edge in place.
Thanks so much! That is a great idea and I never thought about that. I love tips from professionals so thank you!
Awesome vid! Earned another like and subscriber!
Thanks so much! Appreciate the support. Glad you liked the video. It was definitely a fun one to build!
Wow looks amazing, you are brilliant.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you liked how it turned out!
Great video! You can use acetone on a rag to remove the print on the tubing instead of sanding. That's how I take it off of PVC; haven't tried it with PEX but I doubt it matters. Takes less effort and you don't have to worry about marring the tube.
Thanks so much for the tip! I love when people who know more than I do reach out like this. Very much appreciated. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Hi. I use for the printing on pex, isopropyl alcohol. Its the Same i use for my 3d printer headbed to clean it. Aceton could probably "eat/melt" the pex?
very creative, once again you have outdone yourself. moooore designs
Thanks as always! Glad you liked it and I still have plenty of ideas :)
awesome ! well done
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the project. Thanks for watching!
Another great video and project! If you work with pex in the future, some acetone on a rag will instantly remove the printed lettering.
Thanks so much and thanks for the great tip! I had no idea!
Once again, the quality of the effect exceeds expectations. Strolling through the hardware store with a LED light is the best tip though. 😉
Thanks as always!! Yeah I wasn't sure how it would look but I do think it turned out good! lol yeah its actually quite fun. Hardware store and arts and craft stores are good to always have a flashlight handy lol.
@@ChrisMaherDIY Keep it up, man. Your creativity is a genuine inspiration. I've worked with LEDs for years, designing my own circuits and writing my own firmware for microcontrollers. But I haven't had this "what flashy and gorgeous thing can I create this week" going for me yet.
Hi Chris Maher! i absolutely love your videos! really creative and nicely explained, i was thinking of making this myself but i thought instead of using PEX tubes do you think using Hot Glue Sticks would do the same job?
Chris where is button to give all of your videos a like?
Lol thanks so much buddy! I appreciate the kind words! Thanks for watching!!
@@ChrisMaherDIY you deserve it. Cool easy stuff to rebuilt. And very creative, of course i need to watch it
I like it and should watch again then.
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it!
I've watched this video several times and am increasingly impressed with that curved tubing idea. Just brilliant.
Question for you: How do you protect your ESP8266 boards when you're done? Do you use a case or something?
Thank you for your incredible videos!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video! I really dont do anything to protect them as they are generally behind something and out of harms way. However, another youtuber flxtv I though had a great idea of using a plastic bar of soap holder to protect the board. Something like this: amzn.to/3r79QDY
Watching this videos is like meditation. 👍

👍 Well done.
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it :)
I'm sold. You got a follower. I'm going to have to try this out. I hope to find the materials.
Thanks for the support buddy and thanks for taking the time to comment!
This looks awesome 👏 I had an Philips hue strip that im not using her but it has the silicone over the led so I can’t build it.
You could technically still use them with the silicone! I would just cut the back channel a little deeper and then you wuold just have to secure the led strip in there pretty good so it cant move around so the leds stay lined up with the holes. Worth a try! Thanks so much!
Perfect job ur the best with LED idea
Thanks so much!! Glad you liked the project!
Great idea
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! glad you liked the idea buddy!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Yeah I may ste... um borrow this idea haha
only thing i kind of wish you put in your videos is how you hide that massive power source
Yeah for sure. For this one it was easy. I just have that little table in front of the lights that the big unit is behind. That's generally been my strategy. just hide it behind something!
I know you do them with the cheapest materials available which is great, maybe you should consider doing one project with Govee LED strip.
That is a good idea! I know some of the projects you certainly can swap out whatever lights I used for Govee but unfortunatly a lot of the things I have made would not look as good since govee only has about 30/leds per meter vs the 60/leds per meter that I'm using in most of my builds. However, this project with the pex tubing is one where you could use govee led lights! I really wish Govee at some point would make led's that have 60leds/meter! That would be so amazing if they did!
u rock brotha
Thanks so much my friend!!
Very good my friend you are star
Thanks again!!
I wonder what an aquarium frosted tubing would look like! The Color would be able to travel through the entire tube! Great job as always. How do you hide The power supply and all? Do You have a video on how you control all your LEDS?
I've never heard of aquarium frosted tubing! I'll have to look into that. Does it bend? As far as hiding the power supply, its generally nothing fancy. I just try hiding it behind something. In this project, its just behind the small table/drawer that's in front of it. Right now I have not made a video about controlling everything. I will at some point. Its pretty simple though. All my lights are connected to WLED and that app has a sync feature which allows me to control them all at once! Thanks for watching!!
If you're going to use a straight edge to draw the line, then you don't need dots every foot. You could have done it with just 3 dots and that 4-foot level. And to avoid splitting the wood, pre-drill flat-bottomed holes with a smaller forstner bit and use pan head screws to mount it to the wall. And you might try a solvent to get rid of the lettering instead of scratching up the tubing. Maybe Goof-off or even just alcohol would do it without melting the plastic.
Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment with all your great tips! Thanks for your help! I'm still very new at all this, and especially woodworking so I'm all ears when anyone is able to offer help. Thanks so much!
Dope
Thanks so much!!
Super cool buyt how did you program the lights? also how did you sync it up to match colour of the screen image?
Will these dissipate enough heat
thanks.
You are very welcome!!
I love this so much! Would this work if I bought a 5m LED strip, cut it in half and connected it into a wifi controller box? The thing I'm unsure about is if the LED that I cut would work in the WIFI box after being cut. Alternately, I was thinking about buying two LED strips, but the wastage I'd cut of both would be a lot.
Thanks for wathcing and the comment! You could definitly cut the 5m led strip in half and use each side. Just make sure its the ws2812b ones like I used in this video. They work great!
Hi Chris, love your videos! Just ordered my first 5m ws2812b 60/m strip and diffuser channel. Question can I control this with 2m one way and 3m the other way? So can I connect the esp32 board half a way the strip? Thanks I’m advance Roland
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! If I'm understanding correctly, I think what you are tyring to do can easily be done in WLED. Just connect the entire strip and then in WLED there is something called segments where you can have lets say led 1 - 60 be its own group and then the next segment you can have lights 61- lets say 120 be part of that group. (you can do many segments if you like) You can then control each group separately. Different colors, animation, direction etc.
Wonder how it would look with clear poly tube?
Can we directly power esp board with 5v 60amp supply? Wont it burn or heat the board alot as it only required 3.3 v? Please advice
I've decided to go ahead and make this myself, I was just ordering the bits needed and I'm unsure about the sizing of the pex tubing. Your link says the tubing is 1/4 of an inch but in the video it looks larger, I always think of 1/4 as the size of a straw hole.
Thanks for watching and great question! The pex tubing from menards and home depot all say 1/4 inch and even though the brands were different, the size was the same. Now I also tried ordering some 1/4 inch tubing from amazon that looked like some tubing that might work but was catagorized as like fridgerator water tubing and when that arrived, it was much smaller than the 1/4 inch pex tubing (my guess it was the size of a straw hole) So all that to say is i'm assuming the way pex tubing is measured is from the size of the hole not including the actual pex material. And the fact that a 3/8ths inch forstner bit worked perfect to fit the 1/4 inch pex tubing in makes me thing that pex tubing must be measured a little differntly if that makes any sense at all lol.
love the idea and design. But i would be concerned about heat since the wood is good insulator and there is no heatsink for the LEDS, also the led strips have quite high amperage I wouldnt just twist the wires.
Thanks for watching and for the suggestions! Yeah having the leds installed on some type of aluminum or heatsink material is best. However I've done a lot of projects with leds on wood and I have yet to have any issues and its been close to 2 years now on some of them. I also was recently introduced to wago connectors at the recommendation of a lot of people who watched some of my videos and its all I use now. I love them!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I guess its fine as long as you dont use them at 100% brightness, they get toasty fast
Hi I loved your project and I have started making the same the only problem is that the 1/4" pex tubing is not the same size as my RGB leds nd I can't find the right size.. could please help with that ?
My local hardware stores home depot and menards had different size pex tubing. Although in this project my leds didn't actually go into the pex tubing. The leds did however go intot he hole that I drilled and then the pex tubing went into that hole and sat on top of the led lights. I now the pex tubing at menards and home depot all said 1/4 inch tubing but I did try buying some 1/4 inch tubing that was catagorized as tubing that provides water for your fridge door and that tubing was much smaller than the 1/4 inch pex tubing from the store I got it at. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching and the great question!
Fantastic video.
Any chance of listing the LED Lightning equipment so I can purchase the exact items.
Also can you please include a wiring diagram.
Thanks.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I have all the things used listed in the description of the video. As far as the wiring diagram, I'll try drawing something up, but if I cant get around to doing it anytime soon, you will just have to watch the part in the video where I wire it all up closely. Thanks again!

Very nice look cool, wher did you buy ledstrip? How you control lights?
Thans so much and I'm glad you liked the project! I put all the materials I used in the description. The lights i'm using are: Ws2812b LED Lights: amzn.to/322KFJc and i'm using WLED installed on an esp8266 board to control. I made a video on how to set that up very easily: czcams.com/video/l8OMi7SMpqs/video.html
And... subbed.
Thanks so much for watching and for the support! Thanks buddy!
You can alcohol to remove the print too.
I never knew that! Thanks so much for the tip and i'll for sure remember that for next time! Thanks for watching!
Hey Chris, quick question, how many strips can I run on a esp8266, one 16 ft 5v seem to be fine, but I wanted to attach two strips and when I did I experienced flickering, I wanted to eliminate the amount of esps I use but am thinking I’m going to have to use esp per strip because I’m not using external psu
Thanks for watching and for the question! I know i have for sure connected more than 1 strip to an esp8266. I think the most I've done is 2 and it worked fine. What power supply are you using? for 2 strips I would recommend at least a 5v 10am supply and you might need to inject power if your running 2 strips. Hope that helps!
Hey I love your videos and want to try something like this for my room!
I have a question though, if I wanted to run parallels with two led strips using a usb or barrel power option would I just twist or solder together the red, green and black wires from the two strips and then solder them to the ESP board/put them into the barrel plug adapter?
Thank you if you get around to answering and I hope all is great!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! So essentially you would do something pretty similar to what I did in the video. The issue is that the usb or barrel power option just has the 1 voltage and gnd output so all you have to do is split it. With the USB, i'm not 100% sure but you should be able to cut the cord and get to the + and - wires. On the barrel plug you would attach a short + and - wire. From there I would recommend using a wago connectors to split the wires. For example, I would use a wago connector that has at least 4 slots. 1 slot would have the main voltage wire. 1 slot would have the voltage going to 1 led strip. The other voltage would be going to the other led strip and the last slot would have the voltage going to the espboard. The negative would be the same. At least 4 slots on that as well. For the data, I would have that 1 wire leaving the esp device but you would then use a wago connector that has 3 slots. 1 slot would be the main data wire. The other would have the data going to one led strip and the last slot would go to the other led strip. Hopefully you can make sense of that! Here is the wago connectors that i've used and work great! amzn.to/3xFXdmR
@@ChrisMaherDIY That makes perfect sense! I see the vision lol thanks again man! Love the channel, keep up the great work!
i think using hot glue sticks would've look really good as well! but what can i say your version looks Amazing! really good job am going to attemp to do one of you projects and see how it goes...
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Yeah I think hot glue sticks would work! My guess is they might be a little more expensive but I'd be curios if they look just as good or maybe even better! Might have to try it down the road sometime!
Amazing!!
Any issues with heat from the LEDs in the wooden channel?
I've never had any issues with heat from the leds in any of my projects and I'm almost always use wood or paper. I will say though, I generally don't have them on for hours at a time and I never just leave them on all day. But unless I have them at full brightness and all white, they don't really even seem to get warm. Thanks for watching!!
On your next piece you do would it be possible on the outro demo to say what effect you are using in wled.
Thanks for watching and I'll try to include that next time. The ones I generally use are the bouncing balls, android, and sometimes the fireworks 1d. I like to use the color pallets instead of selecting my own. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! The govee led lights you put in the description has the silicone protective coating but you said not to use those. Does govee have one without the silicone? I cant seem to find them. If not ill have to do the wiring i guess like you did with the other lights. Please let me know since the govee is just plug and play makes life easier. Best led diy channel on youtube. Great work!!
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words! You are right! good catch. I found these: amzn.to/3aQJqkw Those should work great!
@@ChrisMaherDIY you are the best! thanks for that...I want do to the whole soldering and go custom with the lighting like you do since it seems to have better lighting effect options like the "chasing" effect and "bouncing" effect. Govee has some effects but not like the ones I've seen you do. I definitely want to try it though...I will 100% do it for the equalizer project video that you posted
by the way just as a thought, see if you have any cool ideas for outdoor applications of LED lights for like backyard stuff...i saw a guy post a video with the leds between big paver stones. DIY Creators i believe the name of the channel is.
Totally making these, already ordered everything for it. Except those tubings pretty hart to get your hand on those in Germany…. Anyone from GER already made this and want to share?
Thanks and glad you liked it! Hopefully someone can help with how to get your hands on some of the pex tubing over there! It is crazy how materials are so different from country to country. In the US you can walk into any hardware store and have your choice of 5 different types of this stuff. Thanks for watching!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I have used PE Tubing in natural color (translucent) it is ok but i think i need to paint them white in order to distribute more of the light. Your ideas are really great, thanks for your Videos :)
so sick and creative. I'm gonna use those extra long hot glue sticks for a more transparent glow.
That sounds like it would be amazing! Let me know how it turns out!
I hope you Americans appreciate how crazy cheap materials are in the states, here in Australia such materials are 3-4 times the price. These fun projects are just not feasible for the average person!
I am thankful for the prices! Especially hearing how expensive things are in other places!
If we don't have the equipment to cut and dont know anyone with the equipment what are our options? Would home depot or the equivalent be able to cut to your specs? Is there somewhere we can go where they would do the cuts for us? As cool as it would be to have these tools on hand to try to do these projects it's not practical for me to have them plus storage is an issue
Yeah I hear ya! I don't think a place like home depot would be able to make cuts like this. I think your best bet would just be reaching out to friends/family and seeing if they have any of the tools necessary. Fortunately this project didn't really need any of the big tools so hopefully you can find someone that can help!
Love the vid great idea! I was wondering if you've messed around with ws2815 lights before and was wondering if they are actually any good? I've seen that you don't have to power inject them and was wondering if there are any more benefits to them?
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed! I wish I had more experience with different LED strip and eventually I will but I have not played around with those yet. The idea of less power injection for sure sounds nice! I think when I eventually do a project with a lot of LED's is when I will probably look into different LED strips like that. Do you have much experience with them?
@@ChrisMaherDIY No but I've done some research and it appears that they are about the same as ws2812b just 12v and I think there are a couple of more benefits but like you said I think the only reason you would actually want these is for a bigger project. They are also only about like 2USD more than ws2812b strips. I would love to see what ideas you have in the future you've really helped me get into LEDS! Also have you heard of the qQuinLED-Dig-Quad board because I would love to see you do a video on one of you could?
Nice project! I would steer clear of WS2815s in smaller projects like this. 12v is nice, but the extra voltage has to go somewhere as the LEDs are not actually 12v. They have resistors inside each led package to drop the voltage down, but this creates a lot of extra heat (which can burn out the LEDs) and wastes a lot of power.
SK6812 is 5v and does well without a lot of power injection, and is RGBW to boot! TheHookUp has a good video detailing these different types of LEDs 👍
@@fluffys3180 I have only heard of them but have not really looked into them at all! i've heard good things from a couple people so I will for sure have to check them out! Thanks!!
@@PoisonWaffle3 Thanks for the great explanation! I love TheHookUp! Great videos for sure and definitely gets into more of the technical details which I am still very much learning!
You should probably clarify that the tubing isn't 1/4". Likely the interior diameter is 1/4" but this is actually 3/8". I went back and forth at the store about the size and ended up grabbing the 1/4" before realizing it was smaller than the one you used in the video
Great point! I just went off what the label at the store said (it said 1/4 inch) but after trying to order something similar online I found that 1/4 inch means different things for different products lol. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
If i have 2 strips that are both 30 to 40 centimeters and wanted to power them with one 12v supply would i need a power supply like yours which has 2 differenr + and - terminal?
Thanks for watching and great question. You would not need a power supply like the one I have. I could have technically put the voltage wires all in the same terminal and all the ground wires in the same negative terminal and it would have worked just fine.

🤯👍🏽
Thanks buddy!
Nice video! But could i also just solder the two wire pairs of the two parallel led strips onto the esp8266?
Thanks so much for watching! I have not personally tired that but I think it would work if you wired the data lines directly to the data pin on the board. The pins are pretty small and close together so it might get a little cramped.
@@ChrisMaherDIY thank you sir
Hey Chris loving the project. question. In the beginning you have the light strip exactly the same length and the same start and end point. now you have shift the left one up. how did you sync them up to shine the same leds ?
Thanks so much for watching buddy! So I didn't have to do anything actually! When I shifted them, if you look at the very top, the pex tubing that is in the top spot on the higher left section goes to the top spot on the lower right side. So each side does the exact same thing so when lets say the last pixel is blue, its blue on both sections so that the pex tubing will be lit on either side with the same color. I hope that makes some sense!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Hi Chris, i understand that you have shifted them, that is logical that when you have 2 identical pieces of wood en starting point that the starting and ends would be the same. What i do not understand is the following. on 8:26 i can see on the bottom that you have holes without pex tubing (which are not lit) and 1 hole with pex tubing that is also not lit
When looking at this screen i kind of make 2 conclusions
1: the starting points of the LED stript have been shifted upward on the wooden piece. (starting at your first L bracket)
2: the starting point of the LED strip is at the top of wooden pieces
did i explain it clearly?
@@Seaniemo92 Ahhh! I understand now. Thanks for the clarification. So your first conclusion is correct. On the WLED settings you can choose to skip LED's. I think I ended up skipping the first 11 leds so that the first led that would be lit up would be LED number 12. Hope that makes sense! Thanks again for watching!
@@ChrisMaherDIY great! Sharp eyes get me far. Maybe a good idea for a short tuturial about this?
Good morning, can I use a 10 amp power supply for this project? Or how do I know when to use a 2amp 10 amp or 60 amp power supply?
I think a 10am supply would work. It really all depends on how bright you want to run them. I find that running things at 50% max brightness is generally more than enough. But the price difference is generally not very big from a small power supply to a bigger one so no harm in getting the bigger one. Once you have things set up, in WLED under led preferences, it will tell you based on how many leds you have what they recommend for a power supply for max brightness as well as if you are just concerned with having it look good for animations.
I am from Portugal
Hi from America!
So I’m trying to recreate this project or at least something similar. I’ve purchased all my stuff right from your lists in the descriptions. Followed your instructions from the other videos, but cannot get my LED strips to turn on. I have a feeling I’m doing something dumb. One other thing is that the ws2812b come with a 3 wire data connector and a white and red voltage wire out the end. Was hoping I could shoot you some pics of my wiring and you could potentially tell me where I’m going wrong.
Nevermind! I got it! Needed to install drivers correctly.
Hey glad you got it working and thanks for reaching out! Let me know if you have any additional questions! Trial and error is the best way of learning so I'm glad you were able to figure it out!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I’m using the “big” power supply you’ve linked in your videos. How high can I turn the MA safely, for max brightness.
Hi, can you tell me what is the diameter of the pex tube in millimeters? Why do I think it's not easy to find this measurement?
In America, 1/4 inch pex tubing is very common but i'm not sure if it is in Portugal or not. 1/4 inch is 6.35 mm. Although you can use whatever size you want. I could have certainly went with smaller or slightly bigger tubes If I wanted. I would have just had to make sure the holes I drilled fit the size of the tube. Thanks for watching and good luck!
use acetone to remove the type on the pex
Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip!
have you ever thought about making an LED bubble wall?
no entendi nada de lo que dijo pero que buen video, espero que algun dia obtengan subtitulos en español para la gente latino americana, saludos
Thank you so much! That would be very cool if youtube was automatically able to translate subtitles! Thanks for watching!
does this work with home assistant? to change the animation through the day without dialing in up each time??
You can connect it to google home and alexa but I have not yet tried doing that so I'm not exactly sure how it would be done. I believe there are some good tutorials on CZcams though! I'll eventually figure it out lol! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@ChrisMaherDIY thanks for the content is really cool
Will this work with the medium power supply you’ve linked in other videos?
Thanks for watching! I think It will work but you for sure would not be able to run things at full brightness with full white. You would for sure see some significant voltage drop. Now for the way I use these lights, I never have a reason to run them at full white and full bright. I generally have things probably running at 30 to 40% brightness and usually some sort of colors are being displayed (not just white which takes up by far the most energy) and that is more than bright enough for me. So if you use the medium supply and have things running around 30% bright, my guess is that it would more than likely look good enough to pass my standards.
@@ChrisMaherDIY thanks for the detailed response. I decided to grab the larger one just to be safe and power other strips if needed. Just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work and videos. Your channel is incredible. I can promise you that it’s going to grow very fast with content like this.
I’ve already stole 3-4 of your ideas and techniques. I will say the HL blank stencil sheets are by far one of the best finds so far I’ve come across for diffusing light. Worked flawlessly for my last application.
Now to just save up for some of the woodworking tools to make these projects much easier.
Thanks again brother. Have a good one
@@RohrmanT Thanks so much for the update and you are very welcome! Glad some of the videos helped with some ideas! Lol yeah those HL stencil sheets are amazing and I still cant believe I cant find anything close to how well they work on Amazon! All the ones on amazon I've tried are a little too transparent! Thanks buddy!
Where did you put the power supply just on the wall in the corner
Yeah, its just in the corner on the floor behind the little side table i have in front of the lights. Nothing fancy but its out of sight and that's all that matters to me! Thanks for watching!
When using a power supply with fan for cooling like the larger 12V 50A 600watts can those be put in some sort of casing? Only asking because it's kinda a child hazardous.
