      ...and kept calling pass plays to Deebo vs man coverage (Deebo is great in space but can't run routs). Purdy when targeting Deebo 3-11, when targeting everyone else 20-27. That's on Kyle.

      I don't know why Kyle Shanahan is like that. He's top heavy - doesn't use his bench. There are 2 more than capable backs in Mitchell and Mason. Don't run them. Just runs CMC to death. Conley has played well. 1 target. Even through out the regular season, they weren't feeding Jauan Jennings because 11 and 19 are hot. Get everybody involved. Touches. Go with 2 backs, bring up the other TE that can catch. Now you lose Kittle and now you don't have a catching TE (although Woerner has shown he's capable too). Kyle is stuck in his own ways. Good enough for the NFC. Not good enough for the Super Bowl. Flat out the players didn't lose this game, it was Kyle Shanahan's mismanagement that did it.

      @@DudeTastic13 Couldn't agree more. This loss is on Kyle Shanahan. I see Purdy blaming himself and saying he let his team down. Purdy didn't play great but he didn't play bad either. The one who should be taking responsibility is Kyle. But he has been silent.

    • @DudeTastic13
      @DudeTastic13 Před 3 měsíci +5

      @@citizenx8710I would say Mahomes is going to be the greatest because the coaching staff in KC is #1, Top Notch, of the finest and highest quality. They did it with a "lesser" talented offense, a 7th round back, WRs that drop balls. Why can't Kyle use his bench? As soon as they got the feel of the sticky KC DBs, he should have run more, or boot leg play action, get Purdy moving. No, he dropped him back again and again. We could have played smash mouth football. KC's run D is average. Do what the Raiders did to them. No, he called more drop backs. I pray for the day that Purdy can veto Shanahan, like Brady can with Belichick. Shanahan's too hard-headed, and maybe too egotistic without a OC. Nobody vetoes him. It's becoming a detriment to the team in these moments. Reid, Nagy, Spags owned Kyle last night. Wilks was good, our D held its own, but Kyle was atrocious in some of those key moments.

    • @citizenx8710
      @citizenx8710 Před 3 měsíci +3

      @@DudeTastic13 💯. And I already see some fellow Niners fans blaming Wilks because of some bad play calling in OT. True he crapped the bed there, but there should have never been a OT to begin with. Why didn't Kyle run more, and why did he run to the right? The right side sucks, and all season when they moved the ball they ran behind the left side with Trent and Banks. And why all of those empty back sets? Why have CMC run so many slants and not have him there for Purdy to hit short when he was being pressured. I saw Purdy had time to pass at times and apparently no one was open or getting separation.
      I just don't get the play calling in these big moments with Kyle. We are never winning anything with Kyle coaching. I have lost all faith this team will ever win another Superbowl in my lifetime. At least I got to see Joe and Steve win some when I was a kid.

    John Middlekauff's point about Brock's mobility & being instinctive was a "diamond" insight & Shanahan doesn't incorporate this crucial trait in his offense..And that's when Brock is optimum in finding Kittle/Deebo/Aiyuk/ McCaffrey for huge chunk plays which were no where to be found in the SuperBowl with SF.
    And another Mr Obvious ... the 49'rs biggest need, by far, is their O-Line which is almost pathetic. Purdy had Chief defenders in his face the second the snap hit his hands thus having to hurry throws constantly or run for his life with defenders tugging on hs jersey. It is truly amazing how well Brock Purdy played under that constant duress.

      No it isn't. He was indecisive on the first 4th down play and should have looked to run for the first down, and the pass wasn't perfect either. He overthrew the ball on his last play, which should have been a touchdown. Jones applied pressure, but a top QB doesn't miss in that situation. Purdy wasn't good in the 2nd half. The three 3 and outs are overlooked, but if he supposedly has good instincts, he must have left them in the locker room at halftime.

    Kyle Shanahan is medically incapable of success it seems, his playcalling always deteroriates starting in the 3rd quarter of a big game, and Purdy’s offensive line did him no favors with the penalties and the swiss cheese stuff on basically every 3rd down. Then in OT you take the ball first and kick a FG against Patrick bleeping Mahomes. And if it wasn't for the missed extra point, Mahomws would have to go down the whole field (which the Chiefs failed to do all game).
    The 49ers defense is great enough to stop Mahomes from getting 80 yards on a drive, but if Mahomes only has 40 yards to go, it's hard to not give up points. So it's all special teams fault.

      @@Jimmy-LegsMahomes beat the Niners because he was given the opportunities granted by special teams misplays (on the part of SF) and great defensive plays (specifically that blocked extra point).
      SF defense was essentially stopping Mahomes cold for most of the game. He couldn’t drive down the field for the bulk of the game. The borked punt gave Mahomes a short field and essentially gave away a touchdown that otherwise was unlikely to ever happen. Between that TD and the missed extra point, KC wouldn’t have been in a tie game position and SF would have won. Play that game 10 times, and SF looked like they would’ve won it 6 or 7 times out of 10.
      Mahomes got the MVP, but the real reasons KC won were Jones and McDuffie

    That last TD pass play by Mahomes should have been flagged for illegal man down field. It was obvious that the double-teamed block on Javon Kinlaw was clearly more than a yard beyond the line of scrimmage. That should have been flagged, 10 second run off, game over. San Francisco got robbed of the SB.
    That was also bad clock management by KC (Andy Reid's weakness) that they intentionally snapped the ball with less than 10 seconds on the clock. Either that or unless KC know for sure that the referee would overlook any penalty. Hmmm...

    SF, cough....Special Teams kept KC in the game and cough, cough,...... "The Genius" Kyle Shanahan LOST IT with his play calling starting with taking the ball in OT and then Not playing for the TD by telling his team we're going to run the ball twice and get the 1st down or TD. Worst case scenario KC gets the ball with their backs in the end zone. Instead, The Genius, calls an out route with no protection for a blitz and then kicks a 🤬 FG and gives Patrick freaking Mahomes a must win 4 down scenario, in OT 🙄. Literally EVERYONE knew that a FG wasn't going to beat the Chiefs. They have Patrick Mahomes, Kyle.....!

    But with Mahomes these same people wont even entertain the notion that Andy Reid *MAYBE* is the reason Mahomes looks so good. And that maybe Mahomes is closer to a Dak or Justin Herbert than he is a Brady.
    You cant say that Andy makes all QBs look better except Mahomes doesnt benefit at all from him.

    Niners oline and defense got dominated, I didn't think play calling was the issue, it was penalties and the oline that kept putting the Niners in 2nd/3rd and long. They averaged 3.5 yards per carry, it's not like the run game was just blowing thru the Chiefs defense. I think Wilks was good in the 1st half, but as soon as Andy figured out what they were doing, they couldn't get stops. 455 total yards of offense? I think that's the 2nd highest output all year for K.C.

    Honestly I dont think there should be heat on anybody...Its a tough loss for sure, but in reality the game comes down to us not being able to sustain the injuries of Greenlaw and Jayir on Defense, and the fact that we desperately need help at RG and RT. As soon as Feliciano went down and we couldnt rotate him with Burford between passing/running downs it was a wrap for our ability to get the ball out on time, and our ability to run the ball effectively. All we need is to reload and work our way back, Hufanga and Jayir should make a nice combo at the safety spots once theyre both healthy, if we add a good CB and either an RG or an RT (or both) we should be golden. As "stacked" of a roster as people claim it to be, nobody can throw the ball well behind a faltering Oline, and we were still in position to win at the end of the game. Hats off to both teams, I had a Giants and Cowboys fan at my house call this the most exciting superbowl theyve ever seen. The roster is (mostly) young, almost all of the key players are signed through next season, some even through the next as well, just can't let the negativity get to them.
