Ep 019: Introduction to ASCII Character Encoding

Up to this point in our series, we've discussed only numbers. Sure, there's been a lot of them, but now it's time to start discussing letters. We begin with one of the earliest character encoding schemes: ASCII.
Take aways: At the completion of this lesson, each student should be able to:
• explain the purpose of ASCII,
• explain how the first two bits of 7-bit ASCII classify the represented character, and
• convert 8-bit ASCII to its represented character.
