The song was originally sung and the lyrics and music were composed by a musician named Clarence Wijayawardena.
It was Clarence who introduced the electric guitar as a main musical instrument to Sri Lanka.
One day, Clarence was talking with his friend at a party when he explained the musical possibilities of the electric guitar.
His friend was a traditional drumming expert.
He tapped the table and played a traditional drum beat. Then he challenged to Clarence to play it on the electric guitar if possible.
The result is that song.
