Hi, this is a Sri Lankan band called Marians. Extremely popular in Sri Lanka and among Sri Lankans living worldwide. They hv bn in business for 30 yrs. So u can imagine.
The song the lead singer is singing was originally sung by another extremely popular Sri Lankan singer C T Fernando and by his son Priyantha Fernando later on.
The song is set in a rural village and the boy is singing about how he sees this beautiful girl at various places in the village.
After two versus of the song, he breaks say that the original singers (CT and his son) only sang two versus of the song. However it was written as three. When the lead singer (Nalin Perera) met the original composer of the song, he was exclusively given the third verse to be sung.
This is a very popular song in Sri Lanka....describs innocent romance.
English lyrics. “Hey wait a moment, please let me hold your hands for a while . Why are you in a hurry, why you look away and keep walking, please stop for a moment . / (First verse) On that day when you came to plant paddy seeds in my uncle’s paddy field, I still remember how your feet knee deep in the mud while you planting the paddy seeds. And I remember like yesterday that how your lips trembled in the heat of that day./ (2nd verse)- while you were bathing in the stream, under the shade of Kubuk and Bamboo trees, diving your head in and out while your body half deep in the water, and flashing water by your hands. Your laughter and the glances of your lovely eyes, bloom flowers on your young face. / (Third verse) While you were on the swing that day and going high up swaying and with pounding heart, you get scared thinking that a thread tied to the tree might come off. With tearful eyes you looked at me while your face getting reddish from the light ”. (This song originally sung by C.T Fernando with only first two verses. The song said a story of a young village guy first falling in love with a village girl and how he keeps trying to express his feelings to her.)

Quốc An Hồ Singer C.T Fernando died in 1977 by a heart attack at the age of 53. And the music producer Patrick Denipitiya died in 2013 while he was living in Canada. He change the music scene in Srilanka by introducing Latin style and with instruments like Hawaiian guitar, saxophone etc. in 1960’s. And only the lyricist D.C. Jayasinghe still with us and I think he lives close to where this singer Nalin Perera now living. .This song first released in 1967 with first two verses
. Because at that time it was LP records and there’s a time limit for a song, so that is why he skip 3rd verse. His songs are still very popular in Srilanka.
