Wait. Did anyone else think that it was a hack where you simply just tilt the glass in the freezer?
Luca Gacy Me and my friend make polymer clay holders that hold the glass at an angle but make sure it doesn’t tip. They’re super easy to make and super cheap. If you wanted a DIY version you could totally use polymer clay, then decorate how you want.

Too much work for me, i'll just put the whiskey in the freezer because it doesn't freeze LOL
The point is to have the water dilute the whisky and bring out the flavor. So chilling the whisky is not really the best way. Unless you just like it without water.

@@hans3331000 Oh no people have different preferences! Get over yourself.

run water over the glass next time before trying to removed the silicone top
I was thinking the same thing about how to remove it, I'm sorry but I think sometimes is he trying to be difficult and do it that way or is he really that stupid or is that all part of his ploy to get you the watch his channel by saying let me show you how a idiots does this but I had even a bigger novel idea just put a glass of water in the freezer to get the same effect without buying that stupid piece of plastic
@@grangergreenback7152 why? so the wedge of ice would get loose even quicker?
hes using it as the manufacturers intended and he typically follows the instructions as intended to show you how the product was designed to be used.
if you don't like that, then i guess you're the people we have to engineer products around to make sure you dont hurt yourselves
Granger Greenback he just follows the directions as close as he can usually.
TheHeadincharge I know. I have watched the channel. Many times he follows the directions but then modifies them if they are missing things
@@t_c5266 I agree with this and this is why I like his reviews.
The design of a product isn't strictly retained at the manifestation of the product itself; it reaches all throughout the entire product, including the paperwork and instructions. You can have a well-designed, functional product, but garbage paperwork and instructions that make no sense will come as a detriment to the final iteration of the product.
me watching this at the start: "the ice chunk is just going to get loose and be annoying"
me at the end: "yup"
Yeah, pretty much why I don't like this product. Of course I like the idea, but you can see what will happen far before it happens.
Not to mention I drink my whiskey/tequila straight unless it's a blazing hot day outside and I feel like drinking outside.
I think it would be a lot better if they had water sealed at an angle inside the glass (with enough room for it to expand when frozen, of course). It wouldn't water down the whisk(e)y as it thaws and you don't have to worry about it coming loose.
That's why I just stick with my whiskey stones or the big ice sphere if stones aren't available
Yeah I thought it had like water or freezer pack... Stuff... I don't knkw what they call it. Some sort of gel. That you would freeze. Not just a way to hold your water at an angle. I could just tighten My glass. Also, if it was a sealed compartment with gel it wouldn't be a loose annoying ice wedge when your drinking.
@@CalculyticCuber I don't know if they sell it where you live, but try out 40 creek spike. It's a honey spiced Canadian rye whiskey and is very good. I enjoy it straight, it's also great In a whiskey Sour or with ginger ale.
The best spirit to put in a glass is the one you enjoy. The best way to enjoy it is the way you enjoy it. However I think I'll stick with stones they never melt and are infinity reusable.
I'd like to see you review more whisky stones like different shapes, materials and such. If you're interested in that.
I have a pack of six stones and usually 3 for a glass like that will hold out for 2 glasses of three fingers. Naturally length will vary depending on how slow you drink and if you keep your whiskey chilled or not. I keep mine in a wine chiller at around 50 degrees because I live in a hot climate.
For just one shot then one stone will last a long time.

Said every alcoholic, to feel better about their actions.
I know you're just making a joke, but I come from a long line of alcoholics, and nearly became one myself, at age 22. I was drinking all by myself, a bottle every weekend, moonshine I guess you guys call it, the homemade high-proof alcohol. And my father died when I was just 10 years old, simply because he couldn't say no to the drink. I wouldn't know what to tell you, if you asked me for his cause of death, cos that would probably be hyperventilating, and that he couldn't sustain his breathing, when the life support system was switched off. But even if he had survived, he would have to learn to walk and talk, all the basic things, all over again. So maybe he was better off, passing the way he did. But the bottom line is, he wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place, if he only had the strength to just say no thanks to alcohol. And my uncle died from years of alcohol abuse as well, and I suspect it played a part in the other deaths in the family on my father's side, as well. His cousin, his father (My grandfather), and at least one of his own brothers. And a couple of the guys in my grandfathers generation, meaning a couple of my grandfathers brothers. But I'm not saying that you can't drink alcohol at all, but I just want you to know, that along traffic accidents and cancer, alcohol is one of the top 3 killlers in the world, but please correct me if I'm wrong, with links with stats to back it up. But either way, I know that at least I grew up without a father since I was 10, because of the power alcohol potentially holds. But I didn't go "Cold Turkey" because of that, but I did change my ways, and now treat alcohol with the utmost respect. A quality I think should be sought when posting a joke like this. And I'm not even upset, because I lost my dad more than 30 years ago. You get used to it, and you get over it, is what I'm saying, basically. But although I'm not upset, doesn't mean that someone else won't be. And that's why I shared my experience regarding alcohol here. And just to be clear, I'm not hating on you, at all, that's not who I am as a person. Just wanted to offer a different perspective, that might be something to think about. Either way, that's entirely up to you, I'm not the thought or free speech police, do as you like. I just think maybe alcohol is potentially too serious to joke with like that, since so many people are affected negatively, you tell me. But as I said, I don't have all the answers, just my opinions. And you don't have to listen to them, or follow them. It's all good, either way. 👍😊
I didn't know somebody else review this product as well but as a CZcamsr I respect how you handle your business.
I watched the person use this. Doesn't matter, will still watch.

4:45 larger cubes would have lower surface area than a lot of smaller cubes. So that's why they melt slower
*bump
The ice still melts into your drink. So what's the point?
I thought there would be a glass separation between the drink and the ice.
Aside from the visual appeal, the ice melts much slower because the exposed surface area is reduced compared to the same amount of ice in cube form. Same concept as the large ice balls. Good for slow sippers.

Jack Daniels, the perfect whiskey for those that never have whiskey.
What about Black label?
Jameson is a bit more friendly which is a good way to start a beginner. Jack has a bit more character that might turn off a newcomer.

JD is Tennessee vomit. You can emulate the flavor perfectly by just leaving canned corn sitting out for a week or two.
If your drink order includes the words "and coke" Jack's fine.
"Pretentious" was a good description of this device. It's something you send your drinking buddy for X-Mas., and they won't use it more than once.

I'm a purist, no ice in my whisk(e)y. Still a fun design idea though, could use it to cool cocktails or fruit juice :)
I've had one of these for a few years. It works pretty well.
As mentioned below, a little warm water helps to release the rubber mold.
Or even cold water.
Id like to point out that it's always good to have more than one review from various channels.
Imagine freezing coke instead of water. Add some flavors
Had a little cousin made coke/ orange juice ice cubes once.....
Me and my older cousin found them later that day when we were looking for normal ice cubes, turns out coke/OJ cubes go quite well with vodka!
I knew you didn't copy CRH, in fact when I clicked on his video yesterday I thought it was you because I just saw the glass in the thumbnail. You always do a much better job reviewing things... ❤️
Agreed. I find CRH annoying and unwatchable. Gimme Freakin' Reviews any day!
Its neat but my freezer has wire racks, and I find it just as easy to nest the edge of the glass between two wires until the angle of the water is wedged. Works just as nicely 👍🏻
Great review as always
Having Uncle Jack, I see... good choice! Was always my dad's favorite. Me personally, I'd probably like chilled vodka with it. I'm assuming since the wedge was about 4 oz. of water that the entire glass itself is approximately 8 oz.? Fun little review, attractive glass as well (usually you see rounded glasses, this one looks nice).
3:42 personally i think it would look cooler if you used distilled water for the lce.
Why?
@@TheBello2009 Distilled water freezes more clearly.
@@TheBello2009 It results in clearer ice, since there's less air and minerals dissolved in the water to make it cloudy. Boiling it before freezing also further improves the clarity.
Hint: drink the whisky BEFORE the ice melts....
Nice review. I would be interested how this compares to the metal or stone cubes you freeze and add to drinks; which method keeps a drink cooler longer?
I've been using this method for years with water bottles. Drink half the bottle, then stick it tilted in the freezer. Once it's frozen, take a new bottle, pour half of it into the frozen one, then stick the new bottle tilted in the freezer. Keeps the cycle going. That way all day long you have ice cold water.
"Some people have it right out of the bottle." An intervention may be required for those who do.
"Bailey your not getting any whiskey"
Your channel is fantastic. My family knows when there's a new review because I get excited, lol.
At first I thought the ice would be in a separate chamber like those sealed ice cubes. Oh well. The trouble with pulling out the plastic/rubber mold reminds me of my ice sphere maker. I think I prefer mine though as the spheres are crystal clear and really worth the effort.
So for the price of $19.95 is it worth it? Or will the ugly ice suff"ice"?

Another car mount review/comparison might be nice. I just bought a new car and with such, ended up buying new accessories for it (floor mats, cleaning towels, etc) and with that, I got a new phone mount. It was weird to see how wide of the range of prices were. I straight up chose Walmarts brand "Onn" because it was 5.88 and actually had decent reviews. Everything else was like 15-30 dollars. Ive used it for 5 days and have had no issues!

There is no wrong way to enjoy your whiskey, you do you! Stay safe everyone!
Bailey still looking for that Lizard @ 4:45 lol.
Can you do a video on the different shaped ice molds. Like the round ice balls and maybe the whiskey stones or something like that
I have one of these (was a gift) and I have no issue pulling out the wedge. Also mine does not allow water to get behind the wedge like yours did. It does do a good job, but you only get one, maybe two drinks out of it before it melts.
I think you're supposed to drink it with the top of the wedge against your lips so you get the whiskey in full contact with the ice as you drink it... plus it probably looks better visually.
Whiskey on the rocks is the way I roll. I'm going to order one of these! Thanks for the review James!
Interesting... Could be handy for soda as well.
I am curious on something and have been trying to find it, but awhile ago you you shared about a smokeless grill and compared it to an older one. Could you remind me what that newer one was called? As i can not find the video for it...
I had one of these and had the same experience. It works but it's too much work. That top is so hard to remove and it's just a lot easier to get the big cube ice trays.
I knew there was a reason why i keep coming back to your videos, even though I've no interest in most of the products tested.

I really enjoy your review videos and I love my whiskey on the rocks especially Crown Royal Peach😋
I live in Vegas as well, and I learned tequila doesn't freeze so you can put it in the freezer and drink it on hot spring/ summer days in Vegas (or anywhere lol)
Little off topic but reminds me of culinary school making diff color panacottas.. You pour 1/2 into a glass and tilt it to a 45 in a fridge to set... After its set you add the other flavor/color and put it in fridge to set and it makes that cool pattern.
I got one of these for a buddy as a present but I think your solution of just tilting the glasses in the freezer is cheaper and better - thank you for saving me $80.
6:15 that small bump in the ice is much better than spending $20 on a triangle of silicone
I personally, love your choice of beverage. One of my favs. :) Glass is cool, but I am a shot or "neat" drinker. Tyfs!
I'm not a whiskey drinker myself, but I do this with water bottles. I fill them up just less than half and lay them on their side in the freezer. Then when I want ice water I just fill the bottle up. The vertical ice cools the water faster for longer.
This is one of the only guys i trust with a review video on a product
I do the tilt thing with water bottles during soccer season; fill halfway, freeze over night, fill the other half before I head to the field.
Its all good your reviews are all i care about when it comes to these products
Instead of wrestling with the silicone bit to get it out, let it sit for a minute or two. Just long enough for the surfaces warm a teeny bit and let the contact areas start the process of melting. I haven't tried it with this product, but it's worked for other ice molds that were a pain to separate. Also avoids tearing the silicone bit from rough treatment, which by the shape of it I'd think would be likely for this after prolonged use.
I was thinking way too in depth on this, lol. I was wondering if the shape helped to prevent watering down the drink?
The coldest portion should be at the bottom, and the ice is thicker so it is a higher thermal mass. The top, however, being thin will melt quickly, but it's not a lot of water to release. So if you sip it quickly, the overall taste should change less?
That theory got shot out of the water when it started floating. I'm curios though, I might test this with some side freezing in a glass. I do that with a water bottle, freeze about 20% and then fill the rest with liquid.
I can relate to your tequila incident. I had an infamous night waaaay back in the day with Rum at my friends parents anniversary party. Never again!
I was just looking at that two days ago you should review the silicone that makes the round or the square ice cube for the whiskey
i love seeing older items that he reviewed being used in his daily life
The Tequila Monster has a cruel sense of humour.
I myself am no longer on speaking terms with it.
Have you ever tried Whiskey Stones? They're soapstone cubes you put in the freezer and use to chill your drink without diluting it. Or adding freezer flavour to it.
Soapstone is softer than granite and won't accidentally scratch the glass. And, it stays colder for longer than ice.
I bought some for my stepdad awhile ago, but I don't think it proved practical for him in the long run. Maybe he prefers his whisky neat.
Fun fact:
Whiskey = Irish & N. American
Whisky = Scottish
Slightly different distillation, ingredients and processes.
I prefer the smoky peat flavour of the malted barley in whisky.
I have used Reusable Ice Cube Balls Plastic Refreezable Ice Drinks Bar Parties Whisky ! in the past. I think I got them when I was having a small get together. They worked fine, I liked them since it did not water down my drink.
