  • Quick video of how to trim artificial grass/turf. This process (with oscillator) is WAY easier than trying to cut into the grass from the front side with a utility knife. Hit me up with any questions!

If you use a double sided razor carpet knife works way better. Cutting from the back.

What brand are you using for the turf? That looks like a thick turf very hard to find

I don't know the exact brand, but this link is to the site of the place that I bought it from. The one I went with is call the "Half Moon Bay 84". They have the full spec sheet there. When it comes to turf, I found that the height and weight make a huge difference. 84 refers to the oz per yard. Heavier is usually better. This particular one has a 2in pile. Hope that helps! www.theturfdepotinc.com/shop-gallery-3#section-id-1617101688648

I'm guessing there is a good reason not to use the oscillating tool to make all of the cuts?

I think a knife is quicker and it’s definitely easier to cut from the back. But finding WHERE to cut is when that oscillator is key!

Plus you spend a whole pack of blades cutting with the utility knife

    • @DadDoingStuff

You definitely will chew through utility blades like mad. Very good point!

The initial two cuts you do are enough for guides, just use those to line up the cuts.
Ps. That knife is shocking man, you're over exerting your hands by applying so much pressure.

Try using a good quality hook nosed knife. Way way quicker. That method on show is very time consuming. Serrated kitchen knife? I don't think so.

I had an actual sod knife, which was a big hooked blade, but maybe it wasn’t sharp enough because it just didn’t work well. Is there a particular brand of knife that works best?

@@DadDoingStuffany utility knife would’ve went a long way for you it woulda cost you less than 10$ if not a carpet blade would be perfect

I'd rather use Deco rocks against the brick you don't have to be so exact

Yeah that’s fair….definitely don’t need to be as precise.
