I was a kid who enjoyed school and loved getting new stationery supplies! I still do. The advantage to having a large art supply collection now is that I can share good supplies with my kid, so he gets to feel what it’s like to create with tools that don’t fight the artist!
I am allergic to the smell of Crayola crayons (they give me massive headaches), and the colored pencils we used when I was a kid were so lacking in pigment that they were awful to use. My life changed in high school when a teacher introduced me to Berol/Prismacolor pencils!! They were so effortless to lay down color with. It was magical!
Oooo, I'm so glad for your kid that he has a mom that knows the "good stuff" XD
And you get to experience the "back to school" new supplies fun thanks to him :3
Looks like fun
Oh man the old cahier and the berol pencils sent me BACK!! I love these markers. For the price and quality they're REALLY GOOD! I used to use copic markers a lot and these markers are honestly what I'd recc in replacement of them for like, budgetary reasons.
I fully agree. These markers are a fraction of the price of Copics and they work just as well.
They look like fun. The paper is interesting!
Thank you! :D
I buy those ohuhu fine liners regularly 😊
I need to get that marker pad, as I’ve recently been getting back into using regular markers as a medium.
I hope you'll enjoy it (if you end up getting it) :)
That is such a wonderful video, I really enjoyed it. Love to see the supplies in use and your adventurer cat just stole my heart years ago, so I'm happy to see it still adventuring.
The school nostalgia is so real. Nothing beats the feeling to write on the first page of a new notebook... also it made the last 3 or 4 the "horrible" ones. Where there was still space to write, but I wanted to start the new one asap. We also never had the fancy markers, that are available now, which makes me really happy that all these supplies are available to us now to enjoy them. Thanks for bringing back memories!
It wasn't so different in the 1970s, everthing was the same except we didn't have calculators. I still have leftover Berol Prismacolor from back then!
Yesss! The best pencils! :D
I think there's a steeper difference in the last 20 years than anything before that. IDK how people adjust today XD
@@EveBolt D'accord! Depuis la mort de Bérol absolument
@@EveBolt And my parents also shaved the lacquer to write my name on them!
What? No Laurentian Pencil crayons? Lol You brought back memories. Thank you! Keep creating 💙💜💛
I had some of those too! XD Basically, the pencils were all so good then that you couldn't do wrong. I think my parents would get the Prismacolor because that was on the school list? But yeah, they were all so good.
11:09 Tell me about it! I’m not dyslexic, until I sit in front of sheet music. I never practiced much so I never became intimately familiar with all the notes. I never ever had music classes at school. My parents used to take us to piano tutors, but it still took a lot of practice, and I’m not a patient person to put up with practice.
Not having music class in school is not a loss, trust me. I've always resented how everyone was forced to have that class, rather than having the usual "artsy" options: music, art (painting, drawing, etc) OR theatre. Notes on a sheet make no sense to me, I have to pause and go back to the key, then measure out to the note I'm trying to figure out. Every single time. Hated it so much XP
@@EveBolt I am not sure what you mean by measure from the key. What I used to do is go to middle C position on the sheet then count the number of lines/spaces above or below middle C and then count the keys on the piano accordingly. If you are not familiar with piano notes, middle C is the C note right at the middle of the piano. It’s easy for me to recognise on a sheet.
15:06 No it wasn’t it was only 10 years ago 😭.
10:02 No it wasn’t; stop saying that 🥺. The nineties were just 10 or 15 years ago.
Salut! Premier! 😊
How are the skin tones? I have read some criticisms that the Ohuhu skin tones are not very good and theirs is a very narrow choice of colors.
For school we needed a 12 set of crappy pencils and a 24 pack of felt tips. Neither of which used more than twice really.
Definitely wasn't ever excited about it.
2010's europe. Talking middle school at least, primary school never did art at all.
Aww, that's a bummer!! I don't think we did a lot of art in school (it was often for stuff like "draw a map and then color in different areas") but having the pencils there meant I would indeed draw a whole lot more regardless XD
@@EveBolt ahh yeh that's a good one.
Most of my teachers were pretty strict on only having supplies out useful to the class. But maths was a good excuse to bring colours out now and then.
