That rock reminds me of the puddingstone rock I sampled in/near Boston. It's a kind of conglomerate. All these pebbles sticking out yet solid. Nuts!
Sandstone with some conglomerate drop stones mixed in. It’s pretty common to get pebbles like that in sandstone, since the sand that makes up the rock can carry in size and dictates the texture

That pebbly pockety rock looks like everything I both love and hate about slab climbing.
I have never had my finger jam in a pocket, but I have pulled my fingers out of a pocket with someone else's tape stuck to them, so maybe someone before me had that issue.
Sandstone! Churnet Valley is quite geologically diverse - in sections you can see bands of Chatsworth Gritstone and Roaches Gritstone all a short walk from each other, but this is most likely either the local Hollington Sandstone or Hawksmoor Sandstone. Both have varying levels of particle conglomerate and some really cool cross bedding and honeycombing patterns.

Geology student here! The rock appears to be a type of poorly sorted quartz conglomerate/sandstone. Basically a sandstone with big ol' pebbles, cobbles, and maybe even boulders mixed into it. They're all cemented in, and possible metamorphosed, which allows them to stay in really well.
I am 2min in and I absolutley love that Lord of the Rings quote :D

I think the problem you have as propellorhead is actually machinehead .Propellorhead is on the right of the block starting on the big shelf and climbing in to finish the same as the mentalist .

it's conglomerate sandstone, climbed on a load of this chossy sharp shite at Huntsham. I still have a scar from my foot blowing on a rock over and driving my knee into a small horn shaped pebble that took a perfect deep triangular gouge out of me. Good times.

It's on the amazing tree block further in to the woods , it's called Tree-mendous or Tree-rific or something tree based . The hold you dyno to is wet most of the time needs a good run of good weather to be worth it .
