Hairdresser here to explain why the thinning shears works for your bangs if anyone is curious. Thinning shears are made to remove bulk of the hair if hair is too heavy or it can add texture and make the pieces look wispy. So the reason it works so well is because your thinning out the bulk of the strands as well as the ends to give it that thin wispy feel that curtain bangs usually have. With that being said, you did a great job they look good and your color is stunning as well.

What about when you go to the salon have thick hair and they take out those shears and just go at your whole head 🥹😭 has happened to me wayy too many times! Like k didnt ask for that thankfully I have a stylist (do you guys prefer hairdresser or hair stylist?) who I trust now ❤
@@kittykat831 Lol I thankfully had my aunt always do my hair when i was younger to cut it and she never thinned it out. I used to just get color at salons for a while and then learned to cut my own and obvi went to school for it so I do my own now. However I always ask my thick hair clients if they like the thinning shears because most of them don't and i agree. I personally don't like my hair thinned out, I love the thickness. I also have a different way of cutting their hair to remove bulk and weight without using those shears. I'm glad you have a stylist you can trust !

No cap this is the best my bangs have ever looked and I’ve been cutting my own bangs using youtube tutorials for over a decade. No need to redirect, cut it at certain angles, or to point cut! I have fairly thin hair so I don’t have a lot to work with yet this gave me the perfect blended swoop! Just make sure to get a good pair of thinning sheers and like the tutorials said, aim to cut way long than you intended! The pains of growing your bangs out ain’t it!

wow i'm so glad i found this, i've had curtain bangs for a while (cut them myself) and they looked good at first, but whenever i went to retrim them, they got worse and worse. this helped me replenish them :)

You’re absolutely right about hairdressers being better at something. My one hairdresser is AMAZING at cuts, she goes to hair shows/classes every year learning new techniques on cutting. She admitted that she’s not the best at colouring. Which is totally fine!! I love how honest she was, so I go to someone else who is more knowledgeable in colour to colour my hair :)

I’m learning it’s not always the stylist, it’s us being perfectionist because we’re convinced we can do everything ourselves 😂 there are bad stylists but I refuse to believe in this day and age you can’t find a good stylist to execute your needs. But we are in a time where we have so much free access to information that we do it ourselves which results in us believing a service isn’t as good as it may be and we can rectify it ourselves, chasing that DIY accomplishment or willing to take the L. I hope that makes sense.
I’m one of these people who would rather do it myself but not because I’ve had many bad stylists, but because I know how to do my own hair for me so allowing someone else to do it, I either raise my standards too high for them (or my hair) to ever reach or I convince myself from the beginning to not get too excited.
