HOW TO CUT VOLUMINOUS LAYERS INTO YOUR OWN HAIR!

- My step by step tutorial of how to cut bouncy face framing layers into your hair at home!
I am a fully qualified hairdresser so please feel free to ask me any questions in the comments below!

How I cut these bouncy 90's style layers into my own hair:
1- Starting at the very top of the hairline, cut the first section to the desired length.
2- Gradually introduce more hair section by section and use the length of the previous section as a guide while cutting in a downwards motion for a seamless gradual effect.
3- Repeat this on both sides
4- Once the hair is dry, remove weight to shatter any harsh lines

4- Finish off the look with a nice bouncy blue

Just tried this, after debating for a while, and girl. this is the most clearly intuitively explained video out there with little tips throughout. loved following it, and it's scary at first but it just gets easier! my hair looks and feels great, and i'm a 100% gonna come back to this in 6 months! i'm so impressed.

I totally agree! I’ve followed Brad Mondo’s tut before, but he assumes too much. For him it all comes naturally, since he’s been working w hair forever. But for me it didn’t. so a lot of the little tips she gives here, I skipped involuntarily following Brad bc he moves forward very quickly. quick, quick cuz it’s easy, right? Well not so much for someone who’s never done it before

I had to smile watching this, remembering when this haircut became popular in the '70s when I was your age. Everyone wanted Farrah Fawcett hair, and that is exactly what kind of hair you have, too! You're blessed with fabulous hair and a beautiful face as well! Lucky you!
I wore my hair like this in the 70's...I loved it.
Farrah’s haircut was more extreme, I still have a tutorial from a magazine with the technique which is basically putting all the hair up and doing one big straight cut.
If you have wavy hair you are gonna ROCK with this cut... Trust me

How you’d curl it so good?
I always struggled with how much hair to use for the triangle. If you struggle too, I suggest starting with a triangle the size of three fingers from your hairline :) in my experience, it seems to be the easiest way to start and it looks great right away on most people. You can add more hair later if you want :D
Good tip, helped me as I have a fringe and it’s harder to see the hairline precisely. 👏😊

What a great tutorial! My hair is very similar to yours, thick and long, and I used to really take my time styling my hair and it looked great.The past couple of years though I just haven't bothered and just tie my hair in a bun, but I'm going to start cutting it myself again and getting my big rollers out like I used to. I use to get so many compliments for my hair and you've reminded me how nice it can look if I make a little bit of an effort. I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more tutorials.

i comment very rarely but i just have to thank you soooo much for your awesome videos! last time i went to the hairdresser i had to spend 60 bucks for a haircut that made me cry for two whole weeks, had to hide my hair for three months under a cap and she almost fried it off with a blow dryer.... i used your tutorial about six months ago and I LOVE IT! i was so anxious but i was never so happy with my hair and everybody gave me compliments for it. it boosted my confidence incredibly! i'm planning to cut it again today that's why i'm back watching this video and felt like i just had to comment this time.

I've been trying to cut my hair like this for ages! I've followed a dozen different tutorials and somehow the front pieces always looked horrible. I don't know if I did something different while washing or the planets aligned or this method does some step the others miss but I've never loved my hair as much as after this haircut! Ok.. my hair is 52 inch it’s on a little below my knee and I never had the courage to cut it but after seeing this I cut it right away and I don’t regret it! I’m never going back!! thank you! It looks amazing complements my face shape and gives off “preppy (old money)” style that I like.

I struggled a bit with my thinner hair while parting my hair and cutting all the layers. Unfortunately my hair was too short to do it all the way. So I really just did the front of my hair. And it looks amazing! It's cute, fluffy, and curly! Thank you for the tips in the video, you really helped me out. ❤😊

hey! i have a question. as mentioned in the video she didn’t layer the back part of her hair, so without layering the back part does it look ok? does it blend? did you only do what was explained in the video?
I just did this and it looks great! Usually when I cut my hair, it doesn’t blend but this technique made it look so nice and blended

I just tried this over the weekend and.....it came out great! I have super curly hair so I was a little nervous how it would look when my hair was curly. Both straight and curly, my hair frames my face nicely. This was also my first time ever cutting my hair, other than trims. I liked how she explained every step and didn't speed through it. ❤❤❤

this is y’all’s warning that if ur hair is not as thick as hers, UR SECTIONS NEED TO BE THINNER!!! i fucked up and then went to a professional today and she actually said i did really good (so i ain’t shitting on this tutorial, actually just the opposite. it’s amazing and it’s very very well done. if a professional said i did perfect besides the amount of hair in the sections, then u know it’s the shit bc im bad at following directions lmfaoo) but my issue was that my hair is finer than hers! just be careful and when in doubt, put down the damn scissors and take the L. even tho the stylist was as nice as can be, i know she was thinking it was a good thing i put down the damn scissors 😂. anyways, just wanted to put a reminder for all my fellow impulsive girlies that maybe doing this at 10 o’clock at night when you have classes at 9 am is not a very smart idea lmfaoo

The reeeeesult is amazing however let me say this the left side looked better than the right one although I'm right handed I think twisting it on both sides would be much more better.

I recommend washing your hair before because if it’s greasy it’ll be slippery and hard to work with. This is a really good tutorial and I was kinda tired of my hair being plain, might use this!
