I remember the exact moment it was announced that he had passed. I was driving and I had to pull over. There were 50 other cars pulled over, too. We couldn't cry and drive at the same time. What a time to be alive! I was 6 years old the first time The Beatles were on The Ed Sullivan show in America. It was my birthday. What a time to be alive. I feel like the song may be about how over the course of a relationship big gestures and statements like “you’re the love of my life” can gradually lose their weight if you overuse them in the place of actually making an effort to connect with your partner, or as a bandage over any issues between the two of you

I have always heard burn as in destroy, but "burn" can also be used to describe writing something to a CD. Maybe vaults?

I think Taylor's "killing" her other eras, and the Eras tour is like a "goodbye" to them.
Think about it. Taylor is very very very moved by criticism and I don't think she feels she's respected as an adult artist, just as someone who writes songs for teens - even though she's 33. I think a good part of that is the fact that she's still playing her older "teenage" songs - which she obviously has to, or else people(/swifties) are gonna complain a lot about that.
I just think burning the Lover house on the Eras (and the house that's burning is different (credit to Ally, I found that out when she said it) than the original, having 10 rooms and not only 9, as the original... she/her team made the effort to change it to the exact number of albums she has now, and Taylor knows every single thing she does is picked up on and overanalyzed, so she knew somebody would notice it) and literally screaming "cause she's dead!" the way she does (and the way I had never seen her do with that line before) when talking about ""the old Taylor''" is pretty telling.
I'm not saying I wish this to happen, I just think it's what Taylor is trying to say and what she wants. Even more if you realize Dear Reader was - for a good while - the album closer. Exactly when she says "burn all the files, desert all the past lives". The last song before the new album that was already on the making and that she already kinda knew what she was doing.
I really think Taylor might just stop doing live performances of basically everything pre TTPD. As if she was "beginning" again. This would also explain a bit her speech on the Eras movie about the surprise songs and the effort to sing every single song on her entire career one last time - or at least for the first time.
It would be pretty unfair with Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights, but I don't think she will be able to stop singing anything up to Reputation and not receive criticism. I think it has to be an all or nothing thing - so if she wants to stop, she needed to also stop with those albums.
I also think that if you think about a tour perspective.... That's the way to go. What is her next tour gonna be like? She can't keep putting all her eras on the tour of the next album (not sure if TTPD will have one, so maybe TS12), and I don't think she wants to. I really think her Eras is kind of a goodbye - but not to her career, as most people were saying. She definitely won't be retiring any time soon, and I don't think she will stop touring either. She clearly loves doing this. I just think it's a goodbye to her past eras. And now we're gonna see ""adult"" Taylor trying to be rightfully respected by the general public.

i think i’ve always known lavender haze was written in some kind of deep denial because taylor does want to get married. like throughout her whole career, she has continually written about marriage in one way or another so to hear her suddenly be like “i don’t even want that” even though she wrote about wanting to marry him on extremely recent songs made me be like hmmmm she could’ve changed her mind i guess but idk about that really

I think my only prediction is that she might directly reference previous lyrics to sort of rewrite them, specifically lyrics about Joe. The theme of blue, gold, lyrics on lover or rep, etc.

@@katy-hn2jm kinda... There are many things on her love songs about Joe that are kinda concerning... Like, not the fight songs, literally the romantic songs she wrote about him - and probably didn't notice that some things were spilled out.
It really astounds me that almost no one noticed them before (except for swifties that were her since debut or something like that - almost all of them I've known never liked Joe because of the way Taylor talked about the relationship/acted) - me included.

@@katy-hn2jm oh, please don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Joe slanders at all. I know I wasn't very clear, I'm sorry. It's just a realization that really surprised me because I have overanalyzed a lot of her love songs about Joe and never noticed. Taylor really is able to control the narrative and mask whatever she wants to mask even if it's on our face. What I think (and I know I didn't write it here) is that most of those lyrics are unhealthy/almost toxic dynamics on the relationship - but this is not one's of them fault. It's both of them. Both had the responsibility to make things right or to notice something was wrong, communicate and then try to change it/make it better. I'm not saying Joe was a bad person or treated her badly at all. Just that if we look back now, there were plenty signals it wasn't healthy, no matter how much Taylor wanted to make it seem as it was.
I don't think it's just the anxiety and fear of abandonment. She had in her head that Joe saved her (which I'm not discussing if is true or not), and she said it over and over again. Starting a relationship with your "savior" can be a great thing, but can also lead to a lot of unhealthy dynamics. I'm not gonna look for a lot of lyrics now, but the ones I can think of the top of my head are "your integrity makes me seem small", honestly the entirety of Afterglow ("hey, it's all me in my head, I'm the one who burned us down"/ "I need to say, hey, it's all me, just don't go") and even Lover has the "I'm highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you" - why would you put it in a song? Like, sure, you might think it, but is it really that important if you trust your partner (like a brother, as she said on Reputation, before Lover)?
Again, I'm not blaming Joe, many of those dynamics came from Taylor's tendency of blaming herself and at the same time not quite understanding that sometimes there's no one to blame (again Afterglow "put you in jail for something you didn't do", DWOT "I'm a mess, but I'm the mess that you wanted") and so on. Taylor carried this "he saved me, so I own him" through most of their relationship, and it shows on her songwriting. She felt grateful in a way that made her feel small. Like a "you've done so much for me, I can't ask for more/it would be unfair to ask for more" thing. That's kind of on her. He could have noticed and tried to talk to her about it, but it's mainly on her. I think this idea constantly conflicted with needing more but not being able to ask for it because of her own mindset.
Ps: I feel like I'm forgetting something I wanted to say but I can't remember, so, if it feels like it's missing a point or something, it's probably that (hopefully I'll remember)

@@emilygrace_loves.nick_8386 that is interesting, but kind of off topic here but in 7:18 ally comments on how she thinks TTPD would be the track that the title wouldn’t be mentioned, but I personally think it’s “the alchemy” because judging off of how other artists make songs that don’t have the title mentioned (mainly Lana, and by mainly I mean yeah pretty much Lana) I would think that a title with the word “the” wouldn’t be mentioned in the song especially with a fancy word like alchemy after it because I can see that as kind of describing the song, but I really can only see that if it’s a down tempo song

I’m putting my eggs in the basket of a LDR style sad-girl pop album. Not a stretch given Jack’s involvement, and Taylor’s repeated high praise of Ocean Blvd.
I think we’re all going to need a box of tissues and/or straight jacket in hand for first listen.
I definitely agreed it would be very Lana Del/Lorde/Eillish with some sad plunky piano like new years day and lyrics like folk/more. I could even see her having some light jazz influences in the mix (although I really don't think she has a very Jazzy voice, maybe a Don't Blame Me sound for a song tho).

Mick Mars from M*tley Cru* also released his debut album! It's a huge statement in rock since he is suing the group for forcing him out of music ownership from the band after developing arthritis. The band continues to be trash this decade and continuously losing their foothold to be taken seriously.

I completely agree with one of our “golden swifties” that wrote about “what a great time to be alive”. I’m a golden swiftie and I’’m so excited to be a part of the “Swifties movement “. I was born in 1948 and have always loved music. Never missing a beat or a word to a song , you just know you’ll remember it for the rest of your life. Their songs are stories about life and the journey it takes you on. Taylor’s music brings out the best and the worse emotions about you. When a Taylor song can be heard, no matter where you’re at, it catches your attention immediately. She’s a brilliant writer and her words echo in your mind all day. Taylor’s fame is what the world needs which brings together all cultures singing a common language. We love you Taylor , young and old. ❤️❤️💋💋

i think the sound would be a kind of sad pop-folk, just because she said in a interview that she and Joe bound over sad songs, and i think she could do sad songs that he would love to hear if they were not about him and their relashionship. The person who said that the bonus tracks could tell a story did make me sit there for a good 20 minutes and think and here’s my thoughts. I think it will start out with The Manuscript which will just be Taylor herself that she could’ve journal cause a manuscript is handwritten. and then The Bolter will be like when her and Joe first met since that’s a bar that met at (i think to yell if im wrong please). It will give like the vibes of gorgeous with the first meeting him and then lyrics like “i get my self twisted in threads to meet you at the alcott” but not the exact lyrics. then The Albatross with be like their 6 year relationship and their struggle and highs and lows and their fight to get to where they want to be. Because an albatross is flying without land for 6 years and i feel like it will represent how their relationship was starting off good and exciting but towards the end it felt like a task. Then we finally have The Black Dog which will be like the end where everything went wrong and when the relationship collapsed. That’s just my thoughts!
My weird predictions:-
1) She is going to rhyme so long with lon don in track5
2) She is going to mention six years in one of her songs. Eg, fix and six
3) black dog will be healing from depression and move on to next chapter TS12
4) Smallest man will be the TIWWCHNT of TTPD.
5) boy and toy has internal rhyming, so it's going to be very catchy song
6) Track2 will be like the Lakes thematically
7) ✌🏻 means Eras Tour 2.0
8) Taylor is using Travis to compensate for the qualities Joe lacked and making up for all those experiences in normal relationship. I am afraid he is just a getaway car 2.0

I don't usually type out my theories, but I was one of those who thought of Travis as a stand in as well, I have a weird theory though to be honest cause whenever I listen to Haunted(best song on SN period, fight me)it feels to me like she's wishing for Joe to come back to her, "he will try to take away my pain, and he just might me make me smile but the whole time I'm wishing he was you instead", I get that this was originally written about 2 different guys but allow me here, I think it makes sense.
This made me think she might refer to it as her “six year fix” like how she uses addiction metaphors to refer to loving him
@@sydniii Maybe, but even then I'd say that doesn't work with how Taylor literally was as down in the dumps as you could get when they met, that high was a refreshing, normal, quiet relationship up in the Lake District, then when she came out of hiding and got back to performing, she rediscovered that high again, and while we caught onto the relationship in the background, there had to have been some cracks at the seams for them pretty quick for some of those Lover songs to sound as desperate as they did, it was probably a 1-2 year high at most.
