Our jaws dropped seeing this guy play guitar on his lap and he ripped it up!! He played so often that I randomly saw him 3-4 times in the next couple of years. I was on my way home from work when the DJ on Q107 came on in tears announcing that he had passed. He had battled cancer several times, but in the end he lost that fight. I remember pulling over and shedding a few tears for his passing. He was absolutely phenomenal. As others have mentioned he was in the movie Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze. What they haven't mentioned is he did more than a few of the songs on the soundtrack for the movie.

Jeff Healey. This talented young man. Tragically died. I don’t recall when. But “Angel Eyes” made him famous. During the filming of the action flick Road House starring Patrick Swayze, Jeff and Patrick formed a friendship. I believe Patrick convinced the producers to cast Jeff in Road House. Jeff was a blues singer in the film with his real band mates.
    R.l.P. Jeff & R.I.P. Patrick. ❤❤❤🎤🎬👏👏

I knew Jeff and have been to many of their concerts back in the day. One of the most respected, fantastic guitar players of that era. His unique technique allowed him to play unlike any other. Another great ballad similar to Angel Eyes they did was ”Lost In Your Eyes”, which is a song that was originally performed by Don Johnson of all people, believe it or not. Jeff”s cover version however is so much more beautiful and emotional. If you want to check out some live performances, one of my fav gigs was on the beach in Almere, Netherlands in I think 1992 or 93. Not sure if it’s on YT. They also had one official VHS out of a gig at Hammersmith Apollo from ’89 IIRC. Perhaps someone was kind enough to restore it and upload the entire thing here; the clip you reacted to is from that tape. Thank you for this reaction, I’d never have expected to find a Jeff Healey reaction now, so many years after his passing. I’m so happy his greatness is still being remembered today.

Jeff Healey was an immensely talented musician, with an equally compelling back story. He was adopted as a baby, & had a rare form of cancer, retinoblastoma, which necessitated the removal of both eyes. On stage whilst performing See The Light, some thought he Had to have some vision to be able to move to the music; would've been a neat trick for prosthetic eyes. I love all his music, but a decided favorite is I Think I Love You Too Much, by another favorite guitar player Mark Knopfler.

Angel Eyes was written by prolific Nashville songwriters John Hiatt and Fred Koller. If your kids watched the Disney movie 'The Country Bears' they will have heard John Hiatt as he was the voice actor for the lead singer in the bear band. He also wrote 'Riding With The King' which was a big hit for BB King & Eric Clapton two decades after Hiatt wrote it. (That song with the official video would be great for a reaction!!!)
