    "King Arthur", "The Gladiator", "The four feathers", "Kingdom of heaven", the trilogy of the "Lord of the Rings". The fab five films of the early 2000s that taught and talked about all of what there is of good on earth. And that i've watched at least 5 times each. So more likely 10-15 King Arthur and Lotr. Maybe 50 times the gladiator :D
    Early 2000 were the best time in recent human history for honor, pride, justice, faith, truth, love, freedom, friendship, comradery, trust, duty, sacrifice, redemption, worth. It was also the time of early Harry Potter, maybe the best of Harry Potter. Even if, to me, is not comparable to those above. Happy to have had the luck to be grown in such an amazing era. I saw the film, I thought the film could've been so much more Antoine Fuqua SHOULD NOT have worked with Micheal Bay. If you had studied anything about Early Medieval British history, this film could've been so much more and much more dynamic, as this film implies that the British Isles had a much more extensive link with the East, than the film is letting on. What your watching is the fertilisation of the modern world as we know it.
      And what is shocking is the irony that as an African American director, he could've added African roman legionnaires that were present at Hadrian's Wall.
      Guy's learn your roman history, and early modern history, it puts this film to shame, I want to give the film 10 out of 10, but I just couldn't because it was a missed opportunity.

      @@harvestcanada Unfortunately, Black African Legionaries serving in northern Europe are like Aluminum Christmas trees to modern audiences. People fail to appreciate just how much ass Rome - then the city and civilization both - kicked from 200 BC to roughly 400AD that it could station *volunteer* (!) soldiers from every corner of the Mediterranean on its opposite, that composite materials could be assembled and shipped where they were needed, that their waxing and waning is recorded in the northern ice sheets as the amount of lead that went into the atmosphere in the manufacture of their coins per year. They even had a black emperor Septimius Severus, and arguably his son Caracalla as well (who's notable for passing the edict that granted citizenship to all freeborn males living within Roman borders).

    This film legitimately changed how I viewed fate and choice. How even when the state abandons you, you have the choice to do what you think is right even though you've earnt the right to the opposite. As a child it was quite the impression. Regardless of being "Hollywood" it's a nice story.

King Arthur formidable.

      Arthur is very similar to Germanicus (our Arthur)...he was also a noble kid being indoctrinated by Rome to rule the lands, but after he saw what the Governors and their Legions did to his People...he rebelled!Okay I guess difference is that Arthur didnt really attack Rome as much as he said fuck yall im staying behind and he had to deal with the Saxons...which he didnt really do too well cause now every Brit has some East German in him aswell!

    • @evankent6049
      @evankent6049 Před 5 lety

      @@TheWimmse What are you talking about? Germanicvs served loyally under Avgvstvs, and regarding Arthur, I would have to disagree. Arthur (or rather Ar Tvr, as recent studies have uncovered) was widely successful in driving off Saxon invasions. It was not until much later that Saxon blood would be infused into the Britannic gene pool to a great extent. Besides, historiographical evidence has only ever asserted that Ar Tvr fought the Saxons, and makes no mention of him coming into conflict with the Jutes or the Angles.

      @TheWimmse Před 5 lety

      The Germans from West of the Rhine were loyal to Rome. And yea I have no idea when the Saxons finally managed to penetrate that Island.So in the end, Arthur couldnt save his Keltic friends...

    • @evankent6049
      @evankent6049 Před 5 lety +2

      @@TheWimmse The Germans west of the Rhine were Gauls, even the Belgae were more Gallic than Germanic (ignoring the fact that Gallic tribes originally were Germanic). You mentioned Germanicvs, not a tribe, who was part of the Jvlio-Clavdian dynasty in Rome. Arthur's actions were not meant to save 'his Celtic friends,' for two reasons: 1, while the Britons were Celtic, only a portion of them ever fell under his protection, and 2, their culture had been so heavily influenced by Latin ideals and customs as to be culturally independent from other Celts.
