One question i have, when l record, l always have a good gain on my interface. Do l record at 0dB and lower the vocal waveforms by -6 on the gain stage? or lower the 0db to -6?

Hey Sean. Question. How do you create a pocket for your vocals in a mix? An example would be pretty “always do” by thekidlaroi. The vocals sit kind of sit in a warm bubble in the mix of the songs. It’s hard to explain but with headphones you’ll understand. Any idea okay how to achieve that? I’m assuming it’s some kind of parallel compression. Another example would be “conversations” by juice wrld
Hey sean l had a question, l remember the video when you showed you had your 2010 macbook, l have a 09, is it best to mix on headphones or Studio monitors? and what's the best buffer size for older macs.
I prefer to mix on both... buffer size depends on whether you're mixing or recording and how fast your machine is. Typically, you should aim for 128 - 512

Used to have like 12-14 plugins on my mixes when I first started. Now I've cut it down to 7 max. Definitely hearing better results in my mixes.

I added the Fusion after the fact for mastering. I do mix into the HFC / Vintage Drive on occasion.

it really just comes down to proper use of compression, EQ and balancing with the beat :)
