    In the same twenty four hours in which Spurs recently played their first match at the new 62,000 seater stadium the club quietly published its financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2018 and announced world-record pre-tax profits of ÂŁ139 million.
    This seems at odds with the tales of woe relating to the stadium completion, which involved delays due to steel cost overruns, labour shortages pushing up wage bills and emergency loans that the club have recently taken out.
    So, have Spurs managed to be smarter than every other club in managing its finances or have these financial results been subjected to the dark arts of accountancy.

      Except not really. Tifo is becoming a "give a broad answer" and that answer isn't always right. Like what got left out here was that the NFL contributed heavily to funding this stadium but wasn't mentioned. Also yesterday on game theory, Tifo really didn't even get into the subject. All they did was give a broad definition on a finite game.

    Spurs have done something no other club has done in English football since the PL started. Built from a mid table club with one or two superstars that leave for big clubs (Bale, Modric etc) to a all star squad (Kane, Son, Eriksen, Dele, Vertonghen, Lloris etc). All the while they built a monster stadium that will make more money than the old stadium, even after paying off the debt.
    The stadium will help to pay the big wages, and stop Spurs going back into the mid table like so many smaller clubs.
    They did it without the help of some Russian billionaire or Arab oil money. You don't see this often in modern football, big clubs just take who they want from the smaller clubs.

    A great long-term strategy by Daniel Levy.
    They keep the wage bill down due to an excellent academy/scouting system, turned over a profit in the transfer market and have still came out top 4/champions league finalists.
    They then invest in building a new stadium to take advantage of a higher capacity and a more modern facility.

    Spurs has an excellent management and a sustainable transfer-policy. One I feel more clubs in England should strive to adopt. I believe spurs has largely been the club which contributed the most players to the english national team, not all of them was neccesarily homegrown or neccesarily play for them today, but still was largely helped to form under spurs. Kane especially is perhaps the only world class player on the national team, someone who can attract attention from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
    While I still admire Liverpools transformation, it wasn't cheap. Manchester city can not be criticized for their play, but their achievement was only possible due to their dubious financial practices which has given them the biggest wallet in the league. The pressure on United to reach old heights have forced some expensive, but failed signings. While they might have failed to secure any trophies, they did manage to reach the CL finals, which is in itself must be counted as an achievement for most teams.

    Can you do a video on how injuries have somewhat positively affected Pochettino's tactics? This is based on the observation that certain players have gotten injured at certain intervals of the season which gave more previous unfavoured players opportunity to play and prove themselves. This is also observed in matches where forced substitutions changed games positively for spurs. Classic example involve injuries to Mason allowed spurs to play better with Paulinho and Dembele, later injuries to Dier gave us the Mousa Dembele and Wanyama combination, Then injury to Dembele forced Pochettino to p[lay Sissoko in CM, this has drastically improved Sissoko and tottenham play. Injury to Lamela meant that Son would be played more often which resulted in the deadly quadruple of Kane, Alli, Son and Eriksen. Lucas was given a clear chance once Lamela got injured and Son went on international duty, as you can see that Lucas has become an integral part of the team. There are countless examples of forced substitutions during matches that changed spurs games. There is also the impact of those favoured players returning from injuries and affecting our results negatively because they where not slowly or properly reintroduced, this is not just limited to Kane, it has happened with Dier, Winks and Lamela.

The point of my comment is based on the observation that certain injuries has improved Tottenham Hotspurs tactical prowess.

      Another example is the CL this season, we all know our 3 at the back with Sanchez does not work well but an injury to Jan forced us to play 2 CB against City which changed the completion of the game, fortunately 2nd leg Sanchez was injured which insured that we play 2 at the back. I must also concede that the Llorente for Wanyama was pure genius by Pochettino. It's a difficult thing to see if you are not a Spurs fan and if you don't track everything...

      Razzle Dazzle | My friend, believe me, Tottenham Hotspur are about to cast a monumental shadow over Arsenal. They are a club who pumped major money in a desperate gamble to get themselves back into the Champions League. If they don’t win the Europa League, financially they will be bang in trouble. A hilarious £240m wage bill doesn’t pay for itself and - in Arsenal’s case - doesn’t buy you trophies either.

    • @imconfused1237
      @imconfused1237 Pƙed 5 lety +20

      john lewis | I can tell you, there is more than one eye on that. That IS the end game. ENIC are very keen to cross-fertilise the two biggest sports in the world and, for that matter, both the NFL and Premier League want it to happen because of its mutually benefiting commercial appeal.
      The idea, is to use the initial NFL deal to land and anchor the sport at Tottenham Hotspur and then ENIC will leverage borrowings against THFC to secure an NFL franchise and host them at the stadium. Think Glaziers, but on a whole ‘nother level.
      When - not if - it happens, it will turn Tottenham Hotspur into a global super brand with easily the same commercial leverage as the likes of Manchester United. You don’t lobby the NFL for 7yrs unless you have a strategic interest; it just so happens that NFL has the same = perfect marriage.

    • @unickygtube

      @@imconfused1237 Excellently put... and by happy coincidence there is a story in the Tottenham area of regeneration and rebirth, and other cultural elements besides, that is feeding with almost serindipitous synchronicity into the tide that is bringing the NFL into Tottenhams orbit.
      _When_ that happens it will be a sight to behold.
      Tottenham will then be raiding Real Madrid for _their_ best players. It's that much of a game changer. I kid you not.

    Another thing to note is that Spur’s stadium is an improvement for hosting events on old Trafford in many ways just as much because of its location. London is a far more attractive prospect for promoters than Manchester acts will definitely stop their on world tours as will exhibition sports events it’s easy to imagine teams like Brazil who Clinton’s to play many of their international games in London switching from the emirates to a bigger stadium if one is available

  • @markbarker6739
    @markbarker6739 Pƙed 5 lety +1

    Another thing you are missing out on is the stadium opens earlier and closes later food and drink are being sold at a very high amount not cost wise but unit sales fans are welcome to stay and drink after games and there's plenty of drink as the stadium has its own micro brewery on site so are making more money per pint than most and yet it's only as expensive as most pubs in the area so they are selling more the ground is showing the final live on the big screens with food and drink outlets open with should bring in close to ÂŁ800,000+ for one night it's definitely paying it's way and the naming rights will amount to around ÂŁ450m so what with that and the money they saved before planing permission was granted and cl success and Wembley profits the stadium is paid for and more left over

  • @davidwilliams4832
