    - Burr was definitely Slytherin. I mean, his self-preservation is no joke.
    - Hamilton could be Ravenclaw or Slytherin. I'm leaning more into Ravenclaw tho. Cm'on, Alexander AMBITIOUS Hamilton anyone? His desire to learn, to have experience, to work, pouring all of his knowledge, hardwork, time, professionality, is undeniable.
    - Both Laurens and Philip was CERTAINLY Gryffindor.

no, no, no, Phillip may have been loyal but was reckless to challenge someone to a duel, it also took real bravery to do that, and everyone says alexander is a slytherin, but i think ravenclaw, yes he had a lot of ambition but he didn't let it overcome him and he really liked writing and using his brain against people

    • @nicii179
      @nicii179 Pƙed 3 lety +2

AshyKnees hufflepuffs can be reckless and brave too lmao. the reason he acted reckless and challenged him to a duel was due to sheer loyalty towards his dad. not bc he wanted to prove his own worth or show off how great he is. while he certainly has gryffindor qualities i still feel so much more hufflepuff. but everyone‘s entitled to their own opinions, not like we could make him take a test 😂

    • @duckislord7187

Agree with all of these! I would also sort Angelica into Ravenclaw, but I think she's also half Gryffindor. (A Ravendor? A Gryffinclaw? No idea.) She isn't afraid to speak out for what she believes in, but at the end of the day she makes the smartest choice that benefits everyone. I could also see her as a Hufflepuff because of her loyalty to her sisters.

    • @Sueperks
      @Sueperks Pƙed 3 lety +1

@@ashyknees653 No definately a slytherin. His ambition did overcome him, hence his short temper and constant beef with other politicians. Slytherins are known for being one of the smartest houses, but there drive comes from ambition to get ahead rather than the Ravenclaws more pure desire for knowledge. And I think Phillip is Hufflepuff as because in his song he literally said he was scared, but him being a 'Hamilton with pride,' and his loyalty to his father made him put his own feelings aside to do something he usually wouldn't, he didn't even try to shoot Eacker. A Gryffindor would have came to duel , Phillip came to make his father proud.

    My thoughts:
    *Hamilton: Slytherin*
He was very focused on his work and very passionate.
    *Burr: Slytherin*
His pursuits are definitely worthy of Slytherin.
    *Laurens: Gryffindor*
Laurens went against popular belief for what _he_ thought was correct, that is very brave. He could also be Hufflepuff for this.
    *Phillip: Gryffindor*
He was very proud and loyal to his father's legacy, and wouldn't step down from the fight.
    *Lafayette: Ravenclaw*
Lafayette just has a Ravenclaw aura. He was witty, also has some knowledge if he could learn an entire language so quick.Thats everything I have, he was hard to sort.
    *Jefferson: Slytherin*
Similar to Burr, he had big pursuits and was very passionate of them.
    *Mulligan: Gryffindor*
Mulligan risked his life to spy on the British. If that's not courage, I don't know what is.
    *Madison: Ravenclaw*
He seemed to take things more carefully and thoughtfully.
    *King George: Slytherin*
King George didn't give up during the war: he kept fighting for what he wanted.
    *Seabury: Hufflepuff*
I don't have a lot of things to go by here, but he was the one reading the scroll thing which was for "peace". He was definitely the hardest to sort.
    *Washington: Ravenclaw*
He was tactical and clever as well as brave. He knew what to do, etc.
    *Lee: Slytherin*
Lee was very firm on his opinion.
    *Eacker: Gryffindor*
Same as Lee, but he wasn't a coward.
    *Reynolds: Ravenclaw*
Reynolds was very lazy and cruel, but he knew how to get what he wanted.
    *Maria: Slytherin*
She was ambitious to get Hamilton to pay her husband . . . Yes, she and her child were threatened, but Maria still went through with it, because she cared enough to protect them.
    *Angelica: Hufflepuff*
She cared very deeply about her sisters and put their happiness over hers.
    *Eliza: Gryffindor*
Eliza always remained loyal to Hamilton, even when he didn't.
    *And Peggy: Ravenclaw*
Peggy was the most careful of the sisters, she worried the most about what would happen.

Lafayette would 100% be a Hufflepuff. Yes, he has the courage and bravery to be a Gryffindor, and the sharp mind to be a Ravenclaw, but overall Lafayette is characterized by his loyal and patient nature. He stays loyal to Hamilton, Laurens, Washington, and the Colonies as a whole throughout Act 1. He provides money to the continental army in many instances and advocates for emancipation of slaves. He never really instigates violence, but is prepared to defend his views. He remains loyal and true to his cause no matter what. Lafayette is a Hufflepuff all the way.

Phillip:Hufflepuff because he's a smol loyal bean but I could see Gryffindor too
    Eliza: Hufflepuff
Angelica:Gryffindor because she knows what she wants and is pretty adamant about it

Hamilton is DEFINITELY Slytherin. He is ambitious & cunning. He knows what he wants, and will do whatever it takes to get it.

Here's my opinion (coming from a Ravenclaw hehe ;0) :
    - Hamilton : Slytherin (I know most people say Gryffindor or Ravenclaw (which are fair points), but his ambition literally has it's own song, 'My Shot.' He went from poverty to a founding father of America because of that drive).
    - Burr : Slytherin (There's a lot of Slytherins in Hamilton haha. Burr might seem like a Ravenclaw, but he exemplifies cunning and self-preservation).
    - Laurens : Gryffindor (NOT HUFFLEPUFF NO- He's not JUST a cinnamon roll. This dude was brave af (see some historical moments) and fought for fairness and justice).
-Lafayette : Gryffindor (him being out of the battlefield and 'Guns and Ships' just screams Gryffindor)
-Mulligan : Gryffindor (There's also a lot of Gryffindors apparently. Our spy on the inside, he does a lot of brave things too).
-Jefferson : Slytherin (he just seems very cunning and ambition seems to factor a lot, though Ravenclaw would also be nice (or a Beauxbatons transfer lol )
-Madison : Ravenclaw (I would say Slytherin, but he's just really intelligent, ok? People underestimate that).
-Angelica : Slytherin (WOW is she a hard one to sort. She has the daring of a Gryffindor, the wit of a Ravenclaw, and the loyalty of a Hufflepuff. But her ambition ("include women in the sequel!") just sort of sells it (and it would be nice to see her in the same house as Jefferson haha).
-Eliza : Hufflepuff (Gryffindor is also cool (Gryffindor x Slytherin ahhh) but her patience and hard-working after Hamilton's death is really Hufflepuff, I know it's predictable but still)
-Peggy : Hufflepuff (I think she would be really loyal to her sisters and her line in the musical "Daddy said to be home by sundown!" just sounds like a big rule-follower).
-Maria : Slytherin (don't have much to say on this honestly).
-Philip : Gryffindor (it takes a lot of courage on his end to stand up to George Eacker and follow his father's instructions in a duel where he's POSITIVE that he'll die).
-Washington : ??? (I LITERALLY HAVE NO CLUE. Ravenclaw would be nice because battle strategies, but Gryffindor seems nice and Hufflepuff and Slytherin... god idk tell me what you think)

-Burr definitely was a Rawenclaw. He always thought things through before saying anything. I think he also manipulated Hamilton irl very cleverly.

Hamilton is all about ambition- a clear Slytherin. Eliza, however, is loyal and kind, unmistakably a Puff. Angelica could be a Ravenclaw, she has that witty, intelligent thing going, John Laurens is hard, he is loyal, but also brave and a tad ambitious, but I feel inclined to peg him somewhere between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. And it wasn’t addressed in the video, but Aaron Burr is clearly a Ravenclaw, who shows more and more Slytherin traits as act 2 progresses (the room where it happens is the turning point where his ambition really kicks in)

So a bit of a Hamilton analysis:
For me overall, depending on when you look at him, he can be a Gryffindor, a Ravenclaw and a Slytherin.
In the beginning I get big Gryffindor vibes from Alex, mixed with a little Ravenclaw, with King's College and Princeton etc.
I also get Harry vibes, with how he first meets Burr and then meets the Gang and decides 'yeah these guys are my real friends' like with harry and draco and then ron.
And in the beginning I also feel like he cares more about glory in that moment then legacy, though that already changes through act 1.
He is also more reckless in act 1 than in act 2.
Alexander is also a person who speaks his mind, which can easily put him in danger and also goes a bit against the selfpreservation of Slytherins.
Especially in My Shot where they are in that tavern, while Burr is more careful, Hamilton doesn't give a sh*t if there are Loyalists in the tavern who might hear them, "he's like, I'll take on every one of them" and here it seems just a little more like "yeah, because it's the right thing" then "cause it's in the way of my Ambitions".
Then: Farmer Refuted and his attitude in that song.
One aspect that goes a little against the typical Gryff is the "I can't obey direct orders" because (my opinion about how the houses see rules)
Gryffindor: rules are cool but I'll break them to do the right thing
Ravenclaw: rules limit creativity and openmindness
Slytherin: if they stand in my way f*** them
    Hufflepuff: (not quite sure tbh)
But I guess that comes from the respect he has for Washington.
And for me he changes from Gryffindor to Slytherin during act 1 and 2, with Ravenclaw being his second house all the time.
    Burr:
I think he is easily a Slytherin, first with his selfpreservation (wait for it!) and then his ambition (room where it happens/schuyler defeated/election of 1800). But I do believe Ravenclaw would be his second house, if not only for his openmindness (at that time) regarding women (i would almost say, he could be considered a feminist for that time)
    Jefferson:
While he probably _is_ a Slytherin, I don't get those vibes from him. I get more Ravenclaw vibes from him, idk why tbh. Actually, I feel like Jefferson would transfer to Beauxbatons midway haha.

I would, as an avid Harry Potter fan, say that Hamilton is a Gryffindor and Burr a Slytherin.
    Hear me out!
This has honestly been my opinion when I first watched the show and listened to the soundtrack and I stand by it.
Ham could never ever be a Slytherin. He is too honest. Yes, he is disloyal to Eliza BUT he doesn't continue to lie about it- he's honest, and brash. He's reckless with his pace, and with his views and honesty. That duel with Charles Lee? Speaking out against Samuel Seabury? My friends that is THE most Gryffindor like behaviour you will ever see. There was no cunning about it. Wreckless, thoughtless, impulsive. A Slytherin would never do something so stupid and if they did they would be WAY more discrete about it!
Now Burr, Burr is your poster boy Slytherin. He's cunning, and evasive. Ruthless (see: took senate seat from Alexs father in law even though they were friends at that point.) He is loyal to a point, but only to his wife and child (seeing the resemblence between him and Draco Malfoy?).
That's what makes their dynamic so intresting! The brashness of a Gryffindor pitted against the cunning of a Slytherin.
Lmao I bet no one read this but its something I've wanted to explain for a long time.

late reply but yes, YES, that is my take as well. If Hamilton was really a Slytherin and a much luckier Slytherin than Burr, he wouldn't have had this ending. His ambition was more of "I will change the world" belief-driven ideal rather than Burr's "I want to preserve the glory and legacy of my family". He has nothing to lose and takes risks that barely get him good outcomes (Reynold's Pamphlet).
That's what makes Hamiton attractive, IMO. That's what makes Burr bitter too - Hamilton seldom thinks twice before he acts, so logically he can't win against Burr. But somehow he miraculously wins everytime.

    To me
Hamilton is a Slytherin due to his ambition, resourcefulness, and willness to do anything to achieve his goals
John Laurens is a Hufflepuff due to his loyalty, and strong sense of fairness (wanting slavery abolished)
    Burr is also in Slytherin
Eliza is a Hufflepuff, I think Angelica might just slip into that house too as despite her intelligence her defining characteristic (in the play) is loyalty to her sister

Hamilton - Gryffindor 🩁 Although he was very smart, his downfall was his own cockiness. He was so confident that people would appreciate his honesty, he revealed his own secrets. He also was very eager and brave. He was a young immigrant who went to a new country and worked his way up from nothing. While that is very ambitious I think it’s even more brave. Eliza - Hufflepuff🩡 As repeatedly said by Angelica, Eliza is trusting and kind. She is loyal to everyone she cares about and forgives Alexander eventually. Her patience and determination are traits of a hufflepuff. Angelica - Ravenclaw 🩅 She values intelligence highly. Her immediate interest in Alexander is due to his intelligence. She herself being too wise for her time. Burr - Syltherin 🐍 Burr is calculated and takes his time waiting for the right moment to strike. He never loses his ambitions though and rather than be impulsive, chooses to plan out his actions first. Jefferson - Slytherin 🐍 Jefferson is also ambition and cunning. He knows how to get people to listen to him. Even after leaving the country for years, people still rally behind him. He talked his way to presidency. Washington - Gryfindoor 🩁 While Washington is far more patient than Hamilton, his bravery outshines any of his other qualities. He was fighting in wars at a young age. He was a general in the revolutionary war and the first leader of a new country. The man was brave. Lafayette - Gryfindoor 🩁 Lafayette could fit in any house but the fact that he fought for a country that wasn’t even his seemed very brave to me. He could’ve lost his life but still fought because it’s what he believed in. Mulligan - Gryfindoor 🩁 I don’t think this one needs much explaining. He was literally a spy. That takes some serious bravery. Laurens - Ravenclaw 🩅 He makes some rash decisions but ultimately seems more thought out and spends his time trying to make the country better. Phillip - Gryfindoor 🩁 He was loyal to his father but a hufflepuff would’ve been for patient and forgiving. Phillip was impulsive and made a decision based on emotion. Following through with his challenge took bravery as well. King George - Gryfindoor 🩁 King George was so confident he didn’t think he could lose. Even when he did he assumed they’d come back to him eventually. While he doesn’t have a ton of bravery he also isn’t super kind, intelligent, or cunning so Gryfindoor it is. Maria Reynolds - Slytherin 🐍 I know she was in a tough place but I believe she knew what she was doing and took advantage of Alexander. He was a wealthy man who she could seduce. That seems quite cunning and ambitious to me.

Jefferson...hmm I have trouble deciding between Ravenclaw and Slytherin XD the argument for Ravenclaw is that he wrote the Declaration of Independence, invented a number of things (spinning chair, UVA which is technically founding rather than inventing, etc) plus he literally went into debt buying books. The argument for Slytherin is that he very much had an “us vs them” mentality about slaves-calling slavery a “necessary evil,” basically being the first advocate of “separate but equal,” etc. Idk, what do people in the comments think?

Hercules was Gryffindor, Madison was Slytherin??? Washington was Gryffindor, Maria Reynolds is Slytherin because she cheated on her husband, but maybe just a tiny bit of Hufflepuff because her husband was abusing her and she had nowhere else to go, but that doesn't give her the right to be with Alexander because he was married and had Philip already.
