Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!" - Zábava

Not that anyone asked but last week I posted two Hamilton vids so ya #selfpromo hehe
@@lils426 I'm listening to Chernow's biography of Hamilton now. I think Lafayette comes on the scene in 1777 or 1778, Yorktown was in '81

"Why am I crying over Alexander Hamilton, Daveed Diggs?" Colbert stole my question.
+Jamie O'Connell god please shut up. Obviously no one who likes this musical is actually crying because of a bunch of old dead white guys who were racists and awful people. LMMs characters are the ones we're crying over; it just sounds hilarious when you say "there's a musical about Alexander Hamilton and I'm crying over it. Don't be so dramatic.
+Jamie O'Connell please shut up. We're crying over LMM's characters, not a bunch of dead white racists. Do you suck the fun out of everything???
+Anneliese Petersmarck yes, yes she does
lol that's it? you're going on a campaign to bash a founding father and the only thing you're going on is that he cheated? That your whole judgement of his character and life is based on the fact that he cheated on his wife over 200 years ago makes you come off as a little naive and bitter my friend. I'm definitely not saying cheating is ok or should be taken lightly, and I"m also not saying that Hamilton was a perfect model human being either, cuz none of those old farts were, but the fact that you're only singling out the fact that he cheated across this whole comment section is ridiculous. There are a bunch of other things you could be criticizing him and the other founding fathers about

"why am i crying over alexander hamilton?" that's... a really good question that i still haven't figured out the answer to...
+Jamie O'Connell i dont think it's so much of who he was during his life as much as it is the underdog effect.
+Jamie O'Connell is it necessary to reply to every comment? We get it, you hate Alexander
+Jamie O'Connell
Because all he did was remorselessly cheat on his wife, right? He didn't come up a with the American banking system, he didn't lead American soldiers to victory as a general in the battle of Yorktown, he didn't fight against slavery, he didn't feel any remorse for the bad things he did, he had no emotions, and he didn't get Jefferson elected as president. Seriously, why can't you see past the bad things he did and see the other good things he did? I could define Thomas Jefferson as a bad person because he started telling people in Western Pennsylvania to rebel against the Whiskey Tax, I could define Washington as a bad person because he burnt down Indian crops and pretty much helped cause the French and Indian war, or I could define John Adams as a terrible president by his laziness. Are you starting to see the flaws of how you define thus historical figure now? Learn to see the good WITH the bad.
+Jamie O'Connell We are talking about the Broadway Hamilton, not the real one.
We cry for the Broadway Hamilton because he was a flawed human being who stood up for what he believed in. That is the spirit of America that I was sold as a child as history books lied to us about ugly things. We feel betrayed by the truth when we finally find out about it. But on that stage we see a man who fell down in his private life, but always told his truth. He fought and fought and made a difference. He helped make The U.S. real. For all our flaws, at least we have the freedom to make our own mistakes. The American Dream may only be a dream, the U.S. only an experiment in democracy, but we have endured. The unfairness of Hamilton being a footnote in history is being corrected and there is something very moving about that. The only person who needed to forgive him forgave him and worked the rest of her life to tell his story. This play is a love story in so many ways. That's why so many of us cry.

+Ariel Steinsaltz Everyone will see it before it closes - don't worry about that. Like "Book of Mormon" It's not a star-driven musical - it will be great even after the original cast members have all moved on.
Sparklemotion101 Yes, cause everyone can afford to toss money on Broadway tickets and transportation to New York. And it's not going to be the same without the original cast, especially without Lin-Manuel Miranda, considering that he has the type of character understanding that can only come from writing a character.
+Ariel Steinsaltz 1) It's going to tour widely - no need to come to NY 2) It will be fine without the original cast. If you haven't seen it at all, what good does it do to complain that it won't be the same?
Having seen it twice I can tell you three things:
1) It's a very well-written musical that doesn't depend on any one actor - from what I heard, no one asked for their money back when the flu hit the cast and understudies stepped in. 2) Lin is very good, but of the original cast he's the weakest performer on the stage. 3) The best way to experience Hamilton is live, without expectations, and without having heard any of the songs before.
Next, I'm looking forward to seeing Javier Muñoz as Hamilton - I saw both of them play Usnavi in "In the Heights" and Javier is a stronger performer than Lin. As for casting the other roles, the producers will have their pick of the best performers in the country. This is the biggest hit they've ever had, and they're not going to risk damaging it by casting anyone who is less than perfect.
I'm just PLEASE DONT SEE IT 500 TIMES YOURE RUINING MY CHANCES

This actually seems like a pretty nice interview. The host wasn't over bearing, plus knew about the certain things he was talking about. That's cool.
I never saw Hamilton and I've been dying to but I can't afford tickets and they're already sold out for the next year.
Could you consider Chicago instead of New York. I am in the mid-west so it doesn't matter to me exactly where I see it so my 2017 show. The other thing to remember is that sites like Vivid mass buy up the tickets so they are really no longer sold out. Take a look at eBay. People are on there selling last minutes tickets on the cheap (comparatively). It' is not cheap anywhere. I think the face value of my last ticket was $177 and it was an "obstructed view" seat!!
Brenda R I live in NY so I didn't even think to go to Chicago to see it. But thank you!
You inspired me not to wait any longer. I just purchased my spring Chicago ticket. The main thing I've learned is that high up is great for this show so I went with the mezzanine. My ticket is $147 + taxes and all but there are lots to balcony seats left in the spring for $87. I'm really looking forward to seeing it again. It's so big, its hard to take in all at once. And I have family in Chicago so aside from a cheap flight, this one won't cost me too dearly either. Take a look at one of the sites if you think you can arrange a cheap flight in and out of the city. That's what I did for one of my NYC shows...in and out the same day for the matinee. It was a busy day, but a fun one.
Awesome!
I live in nj and the cheapest seats in NY are 400ish 😢 if they were @89-150 I would have gone already 😭
How could they use What Did I Miss when there's Guns & Ships?
Also, he is still casted as Lafayette in Guns & Ships. What Did I Miss is the first song of Second Act, in which is now Thomas Jefferson :)
+Kaden Jaeleah I know. I'm just saying Guns & Ships features Diggs' talent better than What Did I Miss.

I like to think without Lin we wouldn't know about Angelica, Lafayette, Aaron, Mariah, Peggy, Hercules, John, Eliza, and many more awesome forgotten historic figures
What would Alexander Hamilton and everyone else think of this musical is the question
Jasmine They wouldn't like, if you'd ignore what they would think about the portrayal of themselves, they would despise the type of music
Peggy would be mad she barely did crap 🤣
Mulligan and Lafayette would b confused bc they never actually met . Everyone would wonder why they aren’t white 😭 . Jefferson would b against all of it just because “he won”
I mean, all Eliza wanted to do in her last years of life was to preserve her husband's legacy so... I think she'd be a fan

@@gigi-ux7wb I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but Lin Manuel Miranda (Alexander Hamilton actor) wore jeans at the White House. The Hamilton cast performed for the Obamas, everybody wore suits except Lin
AMERICA'S FAVORITE FIGHTING FRENCH MAN

Looooved him as both his characters! Daveed is awesome.
I have been fortunate enough to see Hamilton twice (touring) and I am going again this weekend but literally no one can compare in that role to Daveed Diggs. The man is charismatic af and steals every scene he is in. So handsome and just so compelling to the point that he might as well be all alone on stage.
Oh, yeah. Thomas Jefferson just hung out in France. That's why they helped us, his sheer presence
*wink* right! because he was a rock star...
He didn't DO anything for Washington (same guy who chose Hamilton? How can that BE??) to pick him for the job. The guy just SKATED through life, right? We owe him NO thanks at all! - History as told by only one side of the coin.
it's almost like he's making a joke.
Lafayette is the reason France helped us, not Jefferson. Jefferson spent 90% of his time drinking with prostitutes.

The whole point of the musical - when you boil it down is: "(who lives, who dies) WHO TELLS YOUR STORY". So....who told THIS story about Jefferson? You minimize a founding father's life by a story and not by his known contributions.
+Mc Kenna I'm not minimizing his life, I'm minimizing his contribution towards France's support of the American Revolution. I think that most of that credit rightfully goes towards Lafayette.
Wow, I only knew Daveed Diggs as the frontman of Clipping, the best experimental hip-hop band of our time, but this is an interesting contrast. Very multi-talented guy!
I only know of Clipping because of Hamilton. It's an interesting contrast. Very multi-talented guy!
I learned about him from the Bay Boy mixtape by him and Rafael Casal. It has been such a big deal for me that he has done this just because I have been listening to his music for a while. I learned about them both because of an English teacher I had in high school.
He went from Clipping to IMTAKINTHISHORSEBYTHEREIGNSMAKINREDCOATSREDDAWITHBLOODSTAINS
Woah man careful death grips fans are crazy
Christian Montes
Death Grips and Clipping are my kind of hip hop :D
Thomas: I helped Laffayette draft a declaration
Me: was he talking to himself?
DAVEED DIGGS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST.
I could listen this man talking for hours
Ana Mimi same-
Friendly reminder that TJeff had a pet ram he called "this abominable animal".
Marquis de Lafayette he also had like 32 horses
Dani Meow I LOVE YOUR PROFILE PICTURE OF KERMIT
Rose Eastwood WHO COULD FORGET THE FACT THAT HE PLAYED A VIOLIN DUET WITH THE MOCKINGBIRD
He sprained his wrist trying to impress a girl and his bed was in the doorway between his office and bedroom
ME
Stephen is like giving him a history lesson, like bruh. He’s literally in the play, he knows the lines. He knows what happened..
He's exposititioning for the audience, not Daveed.
You mean the totally inaccurate play?
@@polymathdk1713 *looks at you and nods in agreement*
i’m sorry but daveed is absolutely adorable 🥺🥺 his little chuckles here and there 😩 i love this human being. and to top it all off.... he’s an amazing performer with really really good music of his own 🤩
"I helped Lafayette draft a declaration."
Isn't Lafayette just you with a hair bun
Psst nobody needs to know
@@_the_ I see what you did there....
Man consulted himself
I had to explain this to my parents the other day, the same thing with Peggy/Maria, John/Philip, and Herc/Madison lol 😂😂😂 they somehow didn't understand that sometimes in shows, actors have to take on more than one role. I had to explain it to my grandma as well
daveed is such a babe
VoDkA Absolute facts.
ive listened to the soundtrack probably thousands of times by now but i still cant get through it without crying :'3
3:58 his face “did you just fucking interrupt me excuse you bitch”
People think this is an anti white play! Are you kidding me
Hyperdanceactivity4 the casting directors or Lin or whoever wanted mainly a multicultural cast
the world as i see it they wanted to reflect America as it is now not back then.
Omg this guy on instagran was all grouchy "I didn't see one white man" hmm, honey hush yo honey buns and that was totally off topic but this comment made me think of that
People are idiots what did you expect?
Exactly, and half of the people in real life weren’t actually white or fully white.
Can I just say, he has some nice digs.
*insert rim shot*
CreamedKitty x I will throw away my shot
Sans dat u?
Just noticed he does the thing Lin-Manuel does where the eyes smile before the lips. Charming!
I only knew this guy from Clipping, I had no idea he starred in Hamilton, holy crap
