Yo Zion, listen here, I rarely make comments other than my good morning to everybody every morning. I watch these videos every morning because they start at 6:00am which is when I get off the train and outta the subway about an hour earlier before the cops start chasing us homeless out for rush hour. I been an addict for 30 years I been dealing with drugs and drug people in NYC. My wife OD’d, I’m living on the streets, sleeping on the trains and been in and outta Rikers Island. So I guess you could say I’ve met a few addicts in my life. I say all that to say this, you jump out at me. You still got a good soul. After all the BS from your youth, and all the violence, stick ups, and everything else you gotta do to feed a dope addiction, and all the trips to jail and all the trips to hospitals and everywhere else a dope addiction takes ya, you still have that good in you is what jumps out to me. You got morals. Some may say, how can someone who steals things and robs people have morals? We street people can see it. There’s the type who robs people and thinks ‘F those people’ and feels nothing about it. There’s the worse type who robs people and gets off more on their victims fear and the control they hold over them than seem to about the money they can get outta them. Then there’s you, who strikes me as the type that hates having to rob someone just about as much as that someone hates being robbed. That where I see you still got morals. Don’t sell yourself short. The fact that you feel bad and hate all this sh** is a good sign. Mark has dealt with enough street people to see that promise in you, which I believe is why he’s gonna help you. It’s not because your in such bad shape. There are some real bad cases on here. And you are one of the bad cases, but he can’t help them all. I think it’s because he sees the same thing in you I do, not only are you worth the help, but you can actually make it. Your smart, your certainty tough enough, and you still have a good heart. I wish you success in life Zion. You got a tough road ahead, but I don’t gotta tell you that. You already know what you got ahead, but that’s a good thing. You already know where all the pitfalls are. One Love, Zion.

I agree @sarahbefrank.3364. It most definitely is a choice. I deal with this type of addict behavior with my ex-husband and my brother. Lots of people like yourself grow up in sub-optimal childhoods and most of them don’t grow up to be drug addicts and criminals. For someone to engage in the same awful behavior that their elders engaged in, even committing crimes like burglary and screwing over loved ones, and then painting themselves as a poor, poor victim who can’t catch a break is just the epitome of hypocrisy. “well, I’m homeless because I can’t get a job. I can’t get a job because I don’t have a car, I’m sick, etc., etc.”. There’s always an excuse why they have to continue doing the wrong thing and it’s never their fault. A lot of excuse making by the young man in this video. Words but no action. Opportunities offered to him to get help and get straight and all of them squandered. He’s young. Hopefully he’ll see the light before his poor life choices get him killed.

These stories are always so heartbreaking. There's a traumatic backstory 99% of the time. These adults were all children once. Picturing the environment Zion grew up in, it's no surprise at all how he ended up. My heart breaks for him. How do you even process all of that??
    💔😥💔
Zion, I really hope you can get help somehow. It seems like you have a lot of love to give, especially to your kids. I wonder if there are any therapy programs available with your insurance. That's the root of the problem. You've been through serious trauma. Maybe you can give yourself a bit of a break realizing that you were greatly affected by those around you. Your kids can be the drive you need to get clean. It's not easy, but it would be worth it. 💙

6 years sober on December 11th this year. I was smoking black for 6 years before that I had a 1 and a half sobriety and before that I was using any pain killer I could get my hands on but primarily perc 30s and dilaudid 8s. I felt hopeless. But I am living proof recovery is real and is achievable. My driving force when I didn't care enough about myself to live was that I didn't want my kids to have to explain to people where I was or happened to me or why I wasn't around anymore. Whatever you choose to live for don't let anyone tell you different. I tried to quit every day for about a year and a half. I had to make drastic life changes. Went to rehab, started to talking to a counselor twice a week, got on MAT used that support for 2.5 years, started eating healthy, going outdoors, reading, writing, everything I could to make a change in my life. Small goals at first man. You can't hang around the same people. You can do it. Whatever your purpose is hold on to it and never let it go.

This just breaks my heart watching these stories. I lost my sister to addiction 10 years ago 10 days before she turned 35.
If our government would get their heads out their asses and focus on the drug use in our country. Instead of trying to help other countries with their problems maybe we could put a big stop to this. It’s getting worse by the day. And they make rehab so expensive that these poor people have no choice but to be addicts. Addiction is a disease. And no one is doing a thing about it. It’s in every city in the US. I have 2 sons one fixing to be 18 and a 13 year old. Both very smart good kids. But addiction does run in my family and it’s so fn scary as a parent.

Oh, my god. I have never watched a video so intently. I am in awe of Zion, he was failed from day one and has had a tough life ever since. I am so so so sorry Zion, for everything you have gone thru, but thank you for being so very honest. I know how hard it is, but I just pray that you can get clean and stay clean. You deserve a GOOD LIFE and you are a GOOD PERSON, please don’t hate yourself 😢 you are still here for a reason! Praying and sending so much love 🩷
