I'd be cool to have a Magnificus figure that prioritizes the tank mode over the microscope mode, reversing the usual approach for Perceptor figures.

So, something like Fall of Cybertron Perceptor?
Interestingly, in the comic packaged with Generations Magnificus, he chooses not to fight where he could endanger civilians... which lends to the idea that he has honorable qualities. It would be cool to see that expanded on and for him to keep his organic partner, I think that's a really unique premise for a Decepticon character!
Let's see, Decepitcon Medics over the years...
-Glit. The really nice one with a great singing voice. Often confused with SG Ravage. Eventually just switched sides.
-Flatline. Manages to be a 180 in terms of what kind of doctor he is for his Movieverse version vs his IDW version.
-Scalpel from RotF who uh, don't be nearby when he needs parts.
-Moonheart from the Megatronia set is listed as a medic apparently.
-And Nickel from IDW. Who was disturbingly unphased about members of the DJD having chunks of brain module in their teeth. Again. For someone we were suppossed to find sympathetic.
Yeaaah, agreed on some of the odd characterization of Nickel even though I like her overall.
As for medics, there’s Knockout who we stan, G1 cartoon Starscream on occasion (bad idea when you’re Megatron), and I would personally count Pharma from IDW as a valid candidate for the Decepticon medic role because he sold out to the DJD and he’s so cartoonishly evil that there’s literally no real point to him being an Autobot.
My favorite is probably Flatline
Hook's function was Surgical Engineer.
The European exclusive G2 Stormtrooper Aquablast was a medic too.

That's the reason why I hope they make a modern figure of that triple changer diaclone who transformed into a helicopter and a jet.
Knowing he's based in Maximo from Gladiator (2000) in his Bio he could any time say “my name is Magnificus, ex military consul in the Decepticon army, redeco of Autobot Perceptor, father of a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengance in this life or the next”
I think that Magnificus is an Underrated Decepticon and he deserves to be in the Ranks.
Here is how I'd use him.
Magnificus was a brilliant up and coming strategist for the decepticons who used his intelligence to not only win battles but gain influence within the upper echelons of the ranks till dew to the actions of Starscreams manipulation he was deemed a traitor by Megatron, the Lord Magnificus swore his loyalty to. Now hunted by the DJD he traveled the universe keeping his head down doing whatever for energon. Including working in the gladiator pits. After years of planing he was able to find away to safe travel to the microverse where the DJD couldn't find him. After his travel to the microcerse was successful he found a planet where he took up residence away from the organic life that was it's dominant race. He was a traitor to his Lord and had no reason to function yet he stayed alive dew to fear till he saw something. A young boy was being chased by soldiers, the boys, the son of a king and a maid, Ga'mede had once wore regale clothes now only rags had a good life till his brother, the crown prince of the country killed there entire family for power bit as the only survivor he had no reason to live as his beloved family was gone yet he kept running out of fear. After collapsing he looks up to see a tower of a man dressed in a robe to cover everything, the boy saw something "inhuman" in the man's eyes while the "man" saw a familiar flame of passion in the eye of the boy. After saving the boy from the soldiers the two started a campaign to take back the kingdom and them take the entire planet. They will bring peace through tyranny across the microworld of Xeptos
I'd love to see a video on the Powerdashers next. They're in that limbo where they're obscure enough that they have virtually no existing characterization, and yet they recently got figures (granted, redecos of existing Weaponizer figures, but still they got figures).
Every opportunity they've had for proper characterization has been squandered thus far, which is also doubly crazy because they're (A) a team, and (B) part of the 1984 Transformers toyline (as mail-in toys).

I would love to see them include a GIJoe remold as Ga'mede, maybe even remove the 'microverse' element, and he's just an alien. Becuase I like the idea of a Decepticon partnered with an organic. It makes him interesting and unique, a Decepticon that sees at least a tatical value of non-cybertronian life.
So you're basically saying Magnificus was an average fighter but a BRILLIANT Scientist

All I can say is he’ll make a great addition to my Nemesis/Scourge army.
I never heard of this character, but why have we not see him animated or something. I mean I would have thought someone like Shockwave would be the Decepticon scientist in the group.
They just weren't thinking of that back in G1 days but I really like the idea of an evil counterpart to Perceptor and the Decepticons needed a medic/scientist who is also a pretty good tactician as well.
Shockwave is kind of a mad scientist. He explains everything with logic but in IDW he was pretty insane. Magnificus could be more like Data from Star Trek. Really dry and very precise.
Because when I think "microscope", I imagine someone that's good at fighting!

The Titans return Perceptor would have been perfect for Maggie here. You could even deco of the headmaster as Ga'mede.

Magnificus is probably one of my fan favourie diaclone and microchange charactes after reboost and lift ticket etc...,and i was sure that the ss86 perceptor repaint and retool will happened,my first experience with this characters was tfwiki and the animated version of him,i really hope for diaclone characters to be featured in more media,rather than being just for selling toys,since lift ticket and brunout did get some attention in the 2015 botcon story,i really hope for legacy/kingdom blaster being repainted and retooled into his microchange version(and i hooe it will be a working radio,just like the original toy)
for those wondering, Skrash uses G1 Skyquake's design however the mold was never released in japan.
I used to own a black Preceptor as a child, I remember my father buying it for me at this little, "out of the way" general store while on vacation. It's great to see this character released back into the current line so I can get my hands on this childhood toy once again!
Weren't the Constructions technically Decepticon medics? As I have a feeling there was a throwaway line in G1 of them being medics. That or Shattered Glass having them be medics is shadowing my memory... (Also gotta love the fact medics were brought only not to refer this Con to being one)
Speaking of SG again, isn't brought up here as SG uses this exact colour scheme for Perceptor.
Lastly there is one last recolour they could do for this mould. Perceptor's prototype colours!
Hook, specifically, was a medic (officially "surgical engineer").
If we're talking hypothetical reboot; Magnificus needs two things: (1) An explanation why he looks like Perceptor (as a perceptor redeco), and (2) a reason why he's not in the main decepticon cast.
(1) is easy enough, let this be a common scientist body type.
(2) is easy, too. Let him be a scientist for a Decepticon Warlord.
In both iterations of G1 (cartoon, comic) things kept on chugging along during the "big sleep." Why is Cybertron not a monolithic military dictatorship? Why are there still autobots? Simple, Decepticon Warlords - choose pretty much any big name you want - Scorponok, Deathsaurus, Overlord, etc. - have broken away to form their own factions.
(I also like Iacon surviving relatively intact behind some kind of divine "Primus Shield," which allows (a) Ultra Magnus to be City Commander, and (b) new autobots to be largely civilians who haven't been at war during the "big sleep"; Iacon survives as a isolationist autobiot state, while other autobot citystates have largely fallen to assorted Warlords.)
Magnificus, then, can just be one of the scientist characters for a Warlord. Why?
What do the Warlords do for the story? It gives you new Decepticon villains, and allows for Megatron to fight them and/or team up with the autobots. It also explains why, despite having a Space Bridge (a great science fiction idea from the cartoon), Shockwave doesn't just send an invasion force to Earth. Even with Megatron supplying energy and resources, Shockwave has to wage a war of misinformation to avoid the Decepticon Warlords from coming for him and his newfound resources.
Re: Decepticon "super weapons" and "medics" - It strikes me the Constructicons could do this well enough, but I wouldn't mind some new characters stepping in to fill these shoes - especially since the Constructicons feel like an escalation/reinforcements. (And no, Shockwave needs to occupy a largely Cartoon Shockwave role, although you can play into comic personality if you want Shockwave to rebel in an episode.)

I first learned about Magnificus from Animated's AllSpark Almanac, where he was a Decepticon clone of Perceptor who shared his Autobot counterpart's intellect, but instead of science, focused that intellect towards politics and diplomacy, becoming the faction's de facto ambassador for the organic civilizations they've conquered.
My choice would be rain dance and grand slam

I must add the first medics i saw among the decepticons was the constructicons which seem to fill that role.
I’m currently writing a Transformers Stop motion and Magnificus plays a big role. This video helped add some more backstory to him. Originally I wrote him as a brand new ideas but I’m going to try to include some of his original personality traits.

Magnigificus seems like a neat character
9:22, we could have had Magnificus be the one to working with Zarak and overthrowing Galvatron which would sound pretty amazing.

I’m still trying to find a place for this guy in my universe. He’ll probably be a rebuilt perceptor but he’ll still go by magnificus after regaining his memories
For decepticon medics I like g1 Oil Slick, his monocle is cool! I also once drew a G1 Scalpel using Perceptor's body.

Quick Wiki check, and yep. Probably the best thing to come out of Kiss Players. Hilarious how the three cassetes from that might all be Decepticons, if the Rosetta=Flipsides theory is true, and Glits the only one that isn't a sleeper agent. I also realized that the other Cons would want to keep him in good shape and not let Megatron punish him. A lot the other Decepticon Medics tend to be sadists or mad doctors, Glit's the one least likely to do something unpleasent to you for a laugh!

He doesn’t have to be power hungry. We now know that there are a great number of Decepticons that aren’t megalomaniacal. He could be more akin to the Dark Beast from X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. His goal would be to discover a transformers “true” potential.

Cons always seemed ripe to splinter, especially without Megatron's firm hand, plenty of leader types to divvy power
Always felt the Cons had an R&D for all the one-off concept toys and Bots had Punch/Counterpunch so they were prepared or even replicated it. Shockwave was good, but never great for that role.

I would pay good money for a story about Magnificus pitching the Giant Purple Griffin to Ratbat (in a Marvel-inspired role as a shrewd accountant turned leader)
That aside, I love the Thundercracker/Magnificus and Blitzwing/Magnificus pairings you suggested. As a personal suggestion, maybe Mags could team up with a few of the Mercenaries? I’m certain he doesn’t need them for muscle, but it’d be nice for him to be allied with a bunch of amoral bots who aren’t Decepticons.
For my recommendations for underutilized character, I'm once again suggesting Windcharger for the Autobots and G1 Scourge for the Decepticons.

I like the Bltzwing idea, except that Blitzwing's actual characterization makes his turn on the cartoon seem ludicrous from the jump. There's nothing in his character that says he has any 'honor' at all. LOL

there are actually quite a few outcast decepiticons and most of them are criminals or mercenaries and if where not counting pirates or full on deceptiocns becoming autobots or other non-cybertronians, theres double dealer, sixshot, black shadow and blue bachus, soundblaster, exhaust, apeface and snapdragon, lockdown I think, maybe deathsaurus and his crew, and scorponok and his crew, sometimes the coneheads feel free to correct me
For a Magnificus without Ga'mede, I think an interesting characterization would be a cross between Orson Krennic from Rogue One and Lore from Star Trek TNG (with Perceptor as his Galen Erso/Data stand-in). He'd inherit the authority, ego, self-aggrandization, and ambition from the former, and the superiority complex and hypocritical self-awareness from the latter (maybe he'd touch on how Perceptor tended to over-explain things while doing the same himself). But that's just me.

Dude you're brilliant I just ordered this character the new figure that is and I was or had always known that there had been you know I believe a diaclone figure that had been black I wasn't aware of the hobby but maybe that's the one I had been thinking of but I always knew that there was this black evil looking version of perceptor at one point and I thought you know what if perceptor was a double agent like what if perceptor was the decepticon scientist just like you said he worked kind of more in the background with shockwave on Cybertron and actually was one of megatrons favorites and shockwave kind of wanted to get rid of them well they at one point either use the story you came up with and kind of screw him over and run them out of town or they basically are like hey we need someone to go in there and infiltrate the Autobots but to do that sound wave can do so they put a new code of paint on them and put a new head on him, and deep down somewhere he knows who he is but you know it's it's fighting to get out of them but he thinks he's this perceptor guy who shows up magically in whatever episode that is just like every other character who's always like oh yeah and here is our best buddy this dude wherever the hell he just came from. But yeah genius man I thought they could do something really cool too with this guy along the exact lines you were talking about!

Between the name and Knockouts known qualities: I'd almost seen Magnificus and Knockout being some kinda version of rivals who would just as soon make out with each other as kill each other

In G1, he was Cybertron's guardian and Space Bridge operator. Currently, he's a scientist, responsible for many inventions (Predacons, two-headed Seeker...).
