  • Late September - literally the last day of the month - Martin had the chance after a long week to go out for a relaxing camping trip. The louse flies were some bad motherf*ckers, but out on the field where he set up his tent, it was a feeling of serenity with only him, the passing birds and the gorgeous colors of the fall.

Fantastic tent. I have the Robens Starlight 1 and although a bit smaller, stays up well.
Used it in 50+ mph winds last Saturday on the highest point on our Mendip Hills, here in England.
Warm tent, too, with no mesh.
A very good ‘winter tent’, but priced much cheaper.
    All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

Wow, that must've been a great fun experience hunkering down in that storm! Not gonna lie, it makes me a bit jealous to hear! But yeah, I totally agree with you, fantastic tent and great for winter use. The price is a bargain for what the tent can do.

I bought this tent and tested it two weeks ago during an all rain night. I was really impressed by how sturdy and water resistant it is. The short poles at the ends give you plenty of extra room for your feet and your head, I didnt even touch the inner tent with my head while using a high pillow. From now on this is my preferred 4 season tent to go while staying below the tree line. Sure, it's a bit on the heavy side with around 2.3 kilos but you can't go ultra light during autumn storms and winter snow blizzards.
There is a minor issue with the pole caps falling off but there is the option of replacing it using caps with other caps held together by elastic cords or just simply gluing them. I haven't found any other downsides yet.

I agree with you completely. I don't mind the extra weight since I know how sturdy the materials make it, and it's a really warm little bunker of a tent! Looking forward to taking it out during autumn storms etc.
I did replace the pole caps with the type of solution you mentioned (new caps and bungee), if you're interested you can check out my video about the small mods I've made to the tent!

I have Robens Starlight 1. Nice tent. I recently bought another Robens Trail Tarp.

Yeah the Starlight is really a solid tent, one of those that you feel "safe" in! But that's great, how is that tarp working?

09:55 Getting comfortable in nature (as in your own bed at home) sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
The tent looks interesting compared with Hilleberg Akto, the Starlighht 2 seems to have more space inside than in the vestibule/porch vs the Akto which seems to be the opposite. Oh and the welcome price differential (for the UK) of circa £280 vs £680.

I agree, it also makes you appreciate the comfort of your home a bit more as well. Yes, you are completely right about that. The Starlight 2 is more spacious inside, with space for the rucksack inside the tent, and the vestibule is only about 50 cm (enough for cooking, that isn't an issue). The Akto is smaller inside - a real one person tent - but instead it has an enormous vestibule. The price difference is huge, but also to consider is that the Starlight 2 is ~0.8 kg heavier than the Akto (in my mind, it's worth the extra weight for that price difference).

Haha thank you, yeah I had some great luck with getting that sunset, that's for sure! 😍 Yes, I did make a few mods on it, but I'm really happy with it so far. Looking forward to the late fall/winter storms, though, so I can test out hunkering down in it for real!
