    12V SOLAR PANEL INSTALL ON MY ROOF TOP TENT.
    In the past my solar setup has been a bit hit and miss, however it was time to sort it once and for all using good quality glass panels.
    I have used flexible panels, portable panels in the past but i just wanted to go back to good old glass panels on my new bush company tent.
    I have found a very similar 120W panel on Amazon:
    I have an affiliate link below.
    amzn.to/3WoAcOV
    The panels i used were Alvolta on eBay, quick search should bring them up.

    I agree that the black framed solar panels look much better. On the negative side, it means the panel frames get hotter, which may reduce efficiency. In practice, I'm not sure how much difference it really makes though. Your installation looks fantastic. Thanks for all the hard work you do in producing these videos.

    man couldn't agree more with the heat shrink, just finished wiring all my 12v panel for my canopy and the amount of times id finish soldering and think damn that's a nice connection I would then realize there is no heat shrink on it!!! haha
    I found the marine heat shrink is great its very think/firm and has a glue on the inside to keep moisture out.

    Great video bro! I just did a dual battery install and still kept forgetting about the heat shrink and had cutting connectors to make sure I had heat shrink on 🤣

    Hi Ty,
    If you use semi flexible solar panels in the future for mobile use may I suggest eArc by Sunman which come with a 5 year warranty and the normal 25 year performance warranty.

    Very neat job mate 👍 How are the Alvolta panels going ? I’ve used heaps of them for a few years now and they are a awesome panel and the company that make/sell them Springers solar and there sister eBay company power products direct are awesome to deal with ! Any dramas with the panels take them back and they will replace them over the counter 👍

    I’m favoriting this video, and bookmarking it, In hopes that one day I can make something like this happen. My own style of course, but with everything this rig has. Blown away. Here in America you never see rigs this clean. It’s always just huge lift kits and huge wheels

    Looks great. Was there any reason why you went for twin 120w panels rather then a single larger panel such as a house panel?

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Před 3 lety +1

      I was looking at a single but wanted them to fit perfectly between the rails on the tent so these measured out perfect to fit.

    Great job big fella , now you can find an excuse to get away for a few weeks to some remote place far away from civilization 😀 .

    Hey curious question, I'm about to receive my Alpha RTT and I want to mount my solar panels to the roof with brackets similar to how you did yours. I was planning on pre drilling the holes and then getting the brackets painted black but I wanted to know if there was any reason you used RHS over angle or top hat?
    Just trying to figure out how I should do mine.

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Před 3 lety

      RHS more ridged and looks better then angle I think

    Hey mate what happened with the kings flexi panel? How did you mount it wrong?

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Před 2 lety

      Na that pannel was a older one, I never ended up mounting the kings one. I was using the roof of my tent and damaged it 😂🤷🏻‍♂️ going with glass panels now.
