I'm an Australian and grew up in Manizales. Its been 24 years since I have been there. This makes me want to come back.
Hey I’m Colombian living in Australia, it’s nice to see all cultural differences.
@@MultiFeli23 and I live in the UK now. Busy life
how did you make it all the way to manizales and grow up there?
I can see Wes is really experiencing what is like to live in Colombia, not as a tourist. Please keep sharing your experience
Cheers brotha thank u for watching.
Congratulations for the
wonderful video where I can really see my city, I’m from Manizales, living in USA 🇺🇸 for almost all my life,
Thanks for watching!
You hit it on the nail. Community is missing all over the world. It's what I most lack living in the USA. Great work!
This is quite a turnaround for you in Manizales. I had subscribed previously but dropped out due to some of the content. I think you now produce the best you tube videos I have seen on living in Colombia. A brilliant combination of thoughtful insight, down to earth conversation and excellent images. Thank you!
thanks for coming back! I hope you continue to watch, cheers!
Awesome video man, because of you I'm going to Manizales on the next couple of days! That's crazy, thank you from Peru 👌
Cheers man, hope you enjoy!
Man these Manizales videos are 10/10! This life/community you seem to have found and nurtured, is exactly what I want for myself in the near future(5-10yrs). I'm so glad this is where you are. Haha. I could see myself having kids there, from what I see in your videos. Growing up as a poor Mexican American(1st gen born in the US), I have a hard time seeing myself having kids in the US. It's a struggle, but man Colombia is looking very good, more specifically Manizales. Haha. I really gotta get this remote income going!
Cheers bro, thanks for watching like always
“You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden"
♥
The Bible is right, one time I saw that city while our plane was crossing over it during the night, yeah it was so brilliant in the middle of the dark, that was impossible to hide it.
Been there (Manizales) about 10 years ago. I love the countryside outside Manizales, especially between Manizales and Pereira. That coffee region is soo beautiful. Is one of my favorite region equal with Santander around Barichara. It must be my taste that I love small laid back towns.
true that
I shared this great video on the Manizales subreddit! Viva la Manizales!
Cheers bro thanks!
@@WheresWes Be sure to upvote it there. I then crossposted to the Colombia subreddit, but they removed it saying it was self-promotion ... ummm... I'm sharing a good dude's video, not promoting anything... sigh...
The nature is just priceless! So beautiful! Nature makes you relax and forget everything! I have only been to Cúcuta and Cartagena. This video really makes me want to go to explore Manizales. Please make more videos about beautiful Manizales. I will be your audience.
Cheers bro, thanks for watching!
Dude I Just came across your channel and man I love this. Manizales looks beautiful ♥️. I think I have found my future retirement home.
cheers bro thx for watching
Nice Review, thanks for show the good thinks of Manizales. Welcome.
Es con mucho gusto
It seems that many of your videos make me more sure that I must go to this lovely city. I used to like the feeling of being surrounded by mountains. This may be my paradise. Of course, I have to finish my Spanish study first.
cheers bro, would love to meet u some day
dude I love the fact that you are not afraid to casually mention and/or talk about God as a relevant factor. In so much media today God is a forethought at best
Cheers bro
Wes, I love your videos and especially about this experience that you are having in Manizales, the beautiful Manizales del Alma, Wes, Manizales is one of the best cities in Colombia by far, it has a high standard of living as you have already realized It is a very clean city, decontaminated, and has a very pleasant climate, I only tell you this, when it is cold it is cold, but when it is hot, it is very hot, it reaches 27 or 28 degrees Celsius, Manizales has very good centers commercial companies and they are going to build more, it is a city that with its metropolitan area exceeds 700 thousand inhabitants, the perfect population to live well, very well, it is not a small or large city, it is medium ... and has a Huge future ahead in terms of development and more progress ...... Manizales is one of the top 10 cities in Colombia along with Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cartagena, Pereira, Ibagué and Cúcuta .... ..

I really enjoy listening to you bro, your narration is goated..keep the good work💯🙏🏾
bro all love thank u so much
Bienvenido a Manizales.
gracias!
I love it. The way you describe make me want to live there.
cheers thanks for watching!
Never heard of this city untill now...adding to my list for next year!
Glad to hear bro that you are going to court a sister in Christ. Stay pure and stay strong during this courtship because God will bless it and your marriage.
Friends for a while, relationship for a little, marriage for a lifetime.
Nothing like living in peace. And that's what you feel like.
amen
I really enjoy your content. Very informative video. Great information. Thank you so much! 🙏
Cheers bro thank you.
Wes, I love your videos!
Great video man! Super interesting👍👍
Great video Wes I’m happy for you that you are enjoying Manizales ,saludos de Cali.
Gracias por ver parce.
Wes I have to say, though you have found God and you're very spiritual these days, I really appreciate that you don't shove it down our throats and try preach to us all the time. The respect you give is also reciprocated and I love your videos bro! You deserve more subs
Thank you bro, I'm glad you noticed that. I have Christians that come on my channel and complain that I don't speak about it enough but when I wasn't Christian the pushiness was one thing I hated a ton.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you feel that way and are open minded enough to watch.
Cheers.
@@WheresWes I'm currently cycling through your old videos from a year ago gaining knowledge. Currently almost finished the sit down you had with Life With David discussing Colombia and I have to admit, your content is super informative, open and honest. It doesn't over sexualise the Colombian women whilst setting clear expectations with them, cities, cost of living etc.
I'm currently studying Spanish whilst I'm living in Australia and looking to move to Colombia, potentially Bogota sometime next year to further my studies and your channel is one of only a few that has been a blessing to learn from.
I did notice that your videos don't have information on your tech: eg: Camera(s), microphone, laptop etc which could be helpful for aspiring creators like yourself. Perhaps you have already made one and I'm yet to see it.
Cheers brother!
I use a DJI Osmo Action, Sony ZV1, and a macbook pro 13 inch 2019
@@WheresWes Legend, thanks! Was looking at all 3 myself
Excellent video, Wes. Best one I’ve seen on Manizales. Has me really considering it over Medellín. Cheers 🍻

Thank you for the review of my home 🙏🏼
Interesting video I was in Manizales a decade ago ( originally from Bogota but now in Canada) and I didn't really like it but it however it seems the city has changed a lot since then, I may have to give it another shot when I'm travel back, good video.

Good for you Wes, I hope you find love my friend.
Manizales is one of the most underrated cities of Colombia, people should definitly check it out especially the during the Feria
Just went to manizales to see what it was about, Envigado and medellin in general is way better
thanks for visiting tho
Topic request: food sources and farms nearby. Probably one of the best non gmo freshest food location
I am being living in the USA since 2014 and mannn, I miss my city a lot. The sweetness of people is something that I can not bring here but I wish I could have the power to do that. I live in the west of Texas and even though I love to live here, there is another thing that I miss a lot too, and it is the mountains. The west of Texas is flat, full of dust devils and tumbleweeds. I really appreciate the video, and I want to thank you. Hope I can go to Manizales, the cradle of peace and love.
We’ll retire in 3 years and Manizales was #1 on our list, but we have a sweet pitbull mix name Abigail...and Colombia has a breed ban.
So, looks like we’ll be heading to Mexico, at least as long as Abby is alive.
Great video !
Cheers, thanks for watching.
Cool video! 😎
thanks g
Hope to visit or maybe live in Manizales one day 😌
Please do.
Nice video
Me encanta Manizales👍
Bro. If all goes well I'll be in town next week. Is there a chance I can see you to hang out?
Mercaldas in Palermo has more Asian groceries than Carulla. Check in the liquor aisle for imported stuff ;)
yo thanks for the tip, i'll check it out
Great videos!! What are the best neighborhoods for living in Manizales besides Milan? Thanks!!
Palermo, Cable, Alta Sueza, Laureles, La Estrella
Very very nice video my friend. Just une thing:
Medellín has 3.6 million population all Metropolitan Area. Medellín Alone has 2.5 Million
Manizales Metropolitan Area: 600.000 inhabitants. And Manizales itself has 454.000 all goverments dates.
That means of course the diference is smaller than you said. It could be Medellin 6 times bigger than Manizales instead of 10. With all due respect.
Wes! This video is the truth! Manizales is the truth! I have to do better that just watch this video on Manizales! I have to visit Manizales!
amazing
Sup Wes, I'm actually in Manizales, I wanted to link up with you

@Where’s Wes, what’s the name of your church and does it have a branch in Barranquilla?
Hey Wes. Looking good my man ! Real good video. I would love to live there but I am atheist and wondering if people would judge me for that or if it would be a dealbreaker for most women there? Thanks
no not everyone here is religious but it does make it easier to meet people and marry
We are currently in Nicaragua, my wife’s home country. After a year or so we want to travel, looking for our favorite retirement city ( retired 2 months ago ). Looking at cost of living, safety, wonderful cool temps, reasonable healthcare, retirement visa required income is low….we can’t seem to find a downside ! The cost of living is about the same as here in Matagalpa but Manizales is much more upscale.
Help us out….are there any cons besides a bit of rain ??? Thx !
Hi mate! Great video!
My girlfriend and I are wanting to continue our travels in South America (covid sent us home in march 2020) and we are wanting to go somewhere in Colombia to learn Spanish as last rime we were in South America we felt our Spanish really held us back... Manizalez is looks amazing and a close in population numbers to my capital city Edinburgh which we love! I have been looking and looking but can't seem to find any Spanish schools for beginners in Manizalez. Do you know of any yourself? Any help. Would be appreciated! Cheers bud!
hey man i actually don't know, Manizales isnt very tourist friendly to non Spanish speakers tbh.
I would recommend Elefun from Medellin as you can do online classes. I did online classes with them for a few months and they were just as good
Ok thanks for your advice! Much appreciated! 😁
I'm a new viewer. How are the protests? Is it still safe to travel to certain areas?
still kind of going on tbh, but regular life is pretty normal. the protests come randomly though
Thanks for the video! I want to open a Peruvian restaurant, and at first, I thought to do it in Medellin. After 2 months in Medellin, I'm starting to think to move, and Manizales sounds great to me! Do you think it's a good place to do business?
yes and no. send me a message on Instagram and we can talk about it
Whats that at 5:10
You mentioned you do consultations, for what exactly?
Varies based on the person. Usually it's about the mindset to moving a new country, but I've talked about dating, family traumas, Colombia, learning Spanish, etc.
Question, what do you do for work there besides youtube?
i produce and sell royalty free music
What's your take on Pereira?
check out the vid i made on it. not a huge fan personally
Hey Wes where can I listen to your music?
Look me up on Spotify under Wesly Thomas.
Links in description too
What kind of Christian Church do you go to there?
How did you get a visa wes?
dm me on IG
What is the name of the church?
CCM, Congregación Cristiana de Manizales
Very nice city but way too many hills for my liking hahha
What city is better? Medellin or Bogota? Who has friendlier people?
Medellín for sure. Paisas are more friendly
@@WheresWes Thanks bro
I am from orange county. So is medellin and Manizales like comparing L.A. vs O.C.?
I have visited medellin but not manizales
not at all. it's like Colorado or Portland to LA
@@WheresWes Cool, so more open space?
I'm come to Colombia soon from UK.
Great vid. New sub. How do they treat u since ur asian? Any difference? Call u chino??
yeah they call me chino but it's a word of endearment. You can't get offended by it, it's their culture.
I dont think they will be racist unless the tv/trump blames virus on asians.
agreed.
For a second i thought you were spending USD$850 solely on food, haha!
good video wes , are members of the group okay with sex before marriage ?
no they believe in waiting. I've actually personally decided to wait until marriage now as well
@@WheresWes wow , that's a big sacrifice 4u surely
actually not as bad as u think. sex has caused a lot of problems in my life so waiting a couple of years is a good thing for my spirit I think
@@WheresWes you're @ peace wes
@@WheresWes good for you, Wes. God will give you the strength you need. God Bless you
Hi Wes, I wanted to ask about the safety for Asians in Bogotá and Medellin, I’m a medium dark Asian, I look very foreign, Asian, but I am 6 ft 4 , when I speak Spanish I have a Canadian English accent, I travel with no jewellery, no watch, and I carry all the cash with me because I don’t leave it in the hotel safe, I tried to avoid using my credit card unless it’s to pay for hotel, and they swipe it in front of me not under the desk, I travel with a cheaper phone, my clothing does look expensive though, like shoes, jeans, shirts and t-shirts. I have two questions to ask, can we use foreign bank cards in the atm bank machines at the bank and is it safe. In Canada we call bank cards interact or debit card, I prefer to use Scotia Inverlat or HSBC, if I can use foreign bank cards in their bank atm , I won’t carry so much cash with me. I won’t use the atm in the bars or night clubs, only in the banks. And also wanted to ask if I need to hire personal security guard and how many and the price? I only want to hire two maximum the undercover type plain clothes one that will walk in front of me and one behind me with fighting experience and can drive good. The reason is I go out very late in the night around till 2-3 am and hang out at El Centro mostly bars for the local residents, not much tourist go to. I lived a few years in Mexico City before. It would be great if you have some updated information, for example the current crime situation, robberies and muggings done by two persons riding motorcycle and are Asians being targeted, attacked because of their colour and if they think that we are all from China. I’m Canadian born and parents from Canton and Hong Kong. I going change my hair colour to light brown, but that won’t work I think. I wear sunglasses and mask, right now if people ask me where I am from I just say Canada and family is Filipino. Thanks and cheers,
You will be fine. Just be carefull, don´t show off money or cellphones in streets, try to be most informed about the city as possible ( Its could be dangerous asking for directions or info everytime , specially in Bogotá). Finally , try to stay in decent neighborhoods and with dependable companions (if it was possible)
Have a g´ day.
@@amonzart2379 but would it still be dangerous because they think I am a business man sometimes or from Japan, I look oriental Brazilian
