All Access Construction you can use a better waterproofing material

What's the name of water proofing material? I'm building that exact wall right now and never have before.. Another question I was curious about it knowing how far to seperate rebar.. I know it has to dry in the concrete footer before you build the wall but seems like there would be spots it doesn't line up. Maybe just bend the rebar?

@@rossysossy all rebar we use were #5 and 12 inches on center... There several watering proof application you can use.. If you have a white cap in your area check with them

I hope you still tamped the stons you added but the toe vs the heel of system should work as long as the base of retaining wall does not rotate.
I like the idea of the full stone but you might have to have added concrete to underpin where you could not compact the soil back into place...
Sakrete would be just fine for that , adding as needed during your stone lifts.
Your cmu wall, with 4000psi concrete is mostly waterproofed...
Also, you will need weep holes to allow for all that water that will filter down that stone and cause swelling in your existing clay side... I know this is three years late...
Further, you want to move your water away from your footers, always... always...

Thanks for the input,, this retaining wall was inspected by 4 Engineers and had to pass five inspections before being signed off. I disagree with the weep-hole theory. We put a complete French drain system behind the wall. We also just had the most rain in the last 10 years. The drainage system worked perfectly. Wall still there as well. no movement at all

@@AllAccessConstruction you required four engineers to sign off on this simple system?
That is ridiculous and any engineer who directs water to to foundation on purpose should be in another field...
Directing all that water with stone to the foundation is basically begging for failure in the long term.
Scourer can cases a damn to fail and your wall system is no damn...
Also, I noticed you did NOT tamp your stone base in the video you sent me to look at.
I have been doing this for over 30 years, I know bs when I see or hear it; others called you out on not correctly applying the water proofing and you deflected with you had it approved...
Approved is not the same as doing it right, do it right everytime and these tradesman are not stupid when they called you out on that one and done coat of "water proofing"...
Do better... Do better and stop making up excuses for mistakes... do better next time.

The membrane coating appears way too light on. If you don’t apply a heavy coat of waterproof membrane and seal all voids and pin holes it will definitely absorb moisture.

Appreciate the comments.. But it's on there pretty thick.. Pass 2 inspection before we could backfill

Hmm, maybe the camera is giving a misleading view but at 1:19 the waterproof coating does look very patchy and it appears to show the blockwork showing through behind.

There is no such thing as waterproofing a block wall. It’s called dampproofing. It’s the quickest way to get sued. Secondly you can get rid of the drain rock if you use a more modern system of delta ms in conjunction with drainstar strip drain and drain holes.
