Brings back a memory as a family member owned a yellow one. The 411 was miles ahead of your typical variant/squareback, I owned both of them. Very nice car. Thanks
I agree with the comment by Mr Crow. Before making fast judgments on this car it´s important to understand Volkswagen´s history. And, once the context is understood, it becomes obvious that we´re talking about a 1969 car. By those year's standards, it was a fairly fast, fairly confortable, top of the range car. These 411 and 412 were the last rear engine models by Volkswagen under Mr Heinz Nordhoff's rule, and he was a highly commited, highly ethical man. What's most important: all models produced by the factory when he was in charge, from 1948 to his death in 1968, were very high quality vehicles. I own a 1966 Type 3 Squareback (Variant, by european name) and it's , by all means, a superb machine. So, this beautiful 411 deserves a caring, conscious owner.
well said! And one can see that this modell doesn´t have the high tunnel in the middle of the car as it´s known from the old beetle, it therefore probably is a monocoque (selbstragende Karosserie). Here in South America the Variant (2) was built until 1981 but unlike this car it still has the high tunnel similar to the beetles. This 411 was named TL among us (luxus tourism).
Worth pointing out that this car isn't a VW411LE. The name on the back indicates that it's just a VW411 and that means that the car was supplied new without the exterior stainless steel trim that these cars are known for. Neither are there any rubber strips on the bumpers and there's three pieces of felt missing inside the front luggage compartment. The engine has twin carbs whereas a 411LE would have had fuel injection. The radio and possibly the passenger side door mirror may have been fitted from new as accessories. The single headlights aren't indicative of the trim level, that's how these cars were equipped in that model year.
A wonderful car, technical very similar to the Porsche 911, and it`s a shame that VW doesn`t spend the 6 cylinder engine from the VW-Porsche 914/6 to the 411 LE in 1969 !
Sounds like my 914! Being a ‘69 I’m surprised it has low back seats though, because even my ‘68 Beetle has high back seats. Also interesting that you have 3 point seat belts in the back (my Beetle only has lap belts in the back).
@@TheDiskins My old '74 Volvo 242 had no backseat belts, but all coils for installing them. Same with Volkswagen. Front seat belts had to be installed by law from 1975 on, back seat since 1980(?) but were availlable as an option since the late 60s
Interesting that this car is a ‘69 but still has low-back seats-the Beetle got high-back seats in ‘68. Also interesting that it’s a 4 speed-my 914 has the same engine but is a 5 speed. Fascinating cars, they’re really becoming dinosaurs.
My 69 Beetle has got low seats and steel dash. Remember, the padding on the dashboard and high back seats was part of the "safety-features" on US models only. German (or , rather, European models) never got high-back seats.
We need to make some corrections here: This was not a small car at all . It was the last and best rear engine VW ever made. A very good engine with direct fuel injection with plenty of power for it's time. It had MacPherson struts and was very comfortable on the road. It was quiet... the only VW you had a feeling of leaving the aircooled engine sound behind so to say. The interior, especially the seats was very nice. It came with Eberspracher heating as standard. It was overall a very good design with exellent quality. I drove mine for 190.000km without any trouble. But the days of rear aircooled engines were gone...

MY favourite colour combination - fed with white interior, also my favourite slotted wheel trims! I want it, I want it....!

Has sporty sound.
We have a 412 later year ago, but it doesn't sound quite like that.. This one sounds kind of rough if that is such a thing
Beautiful looking car.
Igaas own the car now.
It's even better now.
***** That's good. Thanks for the ride. It was a fun video.
Great car!

The seatbelts are added later due to kids safety. I beleive there where no seatbelts in the back when the car was new in Sweden.

5 speed would have been useful fot the 411 as well.

Sehr schönes Auto gefällt mir 😂
Love porshe
I would like to know what these cars would be.like in RALLIES! Does anybody know?
@@mr.k.3856 WOW! Point taken about rallies!
Yes
this car has got a power steering in original fabric model???? or you added this??
The engine is in the back so it don't need it. No power steering on this car. I don't think they ever had it.
@@TheDiskins The gasoline heater with timer was a unique and excellent feature to preheat the car in the cold winters. I loved this car...
is the car still for sale?
How can Igo in contact with you?
Small and slow VW 411 was one of the worst cars ever designed

surely not the best car, but with qualities, a lot of late 60s charm and character!
