    Drove my E30 325is until 414000 miles and then replaced it with the E36 318ti . Thoroughly enjoy it and the practicality of the hatchback.
    Been my daily driver for the last 4 years.

    I'm on my second because I regretted selling the first. Now daily driving a 1998 318ti 5 speed M Sport in Morea Teal Green. Fantastic peppy little car! Very hard to find these days under 100,000 miles with a manual transmission. Great video, a little bass-boomy on the audio.

      @Auto_Lore  Před 3 lety +2

      Very nice, that is a great spec. it is definitely an underrated BMW model that is likely to become even more appreciated in the future. You are right, low mileage examples in good shape are becoming increasingly more scarce - many have had neglectful owners over the years and the fact that it has been an affordable BMW model did not help either.
      Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I appreciate the feedback! I have been experimenting with the microphone settings in my videos, but I will make sure to lower the bass from now on.
      I hope that your E36 Compact will treat you well for many years to come!

      Very nice, the 323tis are quite difficult to come by these days. The E36/5 really offers a great package, especially with the M52B25 inline-6 like yours. I think it is an underrated BMW model.

      @@Auto_Lore The only reason I know this is because I had to repair the front end of my E36 sedan after the previous owner drifted it into something. I love these informational videos and they're useful since I'm looking at a Compact for my girlfriend.

    • @Auto_Lore
      @Auto_Lore  Před 3 lety +2

      @@qers I am sorry to hear that, I hope the front end repair turned out well - many of the E36s are driven quite recklessly, unfortunately.

    I've had a -99 316i compact for three years or so now. 310k kilometers on it. The body is still in great shape. Such a fun car in the winter... The biggest downside is the amount of shock absorbers, rods, links and assorted suspension parts this car eats through. Part of it is because of our horrible roads, but still it's more than what my previous cars consumed. Naturally, it doesn't help when one hits the bumps sideways.

      You are right that the upgraded 318ti E36 Compact (model years 1995-1998) received the 1.9 L M44 engine, so it should definitely have been mentioned in the video - an oversight on my part. Thank you for pointing this out!

    Hello .. I just discover your channel and I like your style and description about the car and I need really your advice ... I find a bmw 316i compact model 1998 with 84.000 km
    It's a good car ? And I'm afraid about fuel consummation... what do you think?
    Please respond me

      been driving an e36 compact 316i (1.6 300.000kms engine swapped at 240.000) for about 1.5 years
      fuel is about 7l/100km (mostly city kms) and if you push the car it can go easily to 10
      if you are just cruising on a highway it can go to 5l/100km
      fun little car with good trunk space
      not the best for the rear passengers if you like sitting quite back when driving but still comfortable
      did the headliner just yesterday (cost about 60$ to do it myself) which I think is a common problem if you live in a hot climate
      other than that not many complaints really
