Thank you so much for this video. I bought the 2 bulbs from Amazon and changed the taillights myself on our 2006 Highlander with 200K miles. It's so easy when you know what to expect. As a side note in your video, the taillights worked fine when you pressed the breaks but not when the regular headlights were turned on. The bulbs are double filament for that purpose.
I appreciate your help. You've gained a new subscriber! 👊🏻

Great video, easy fix, supposedly. In my vintage highlander, 2004 with 104,000., So I tried to turn the knob, wouldn't budge. I used a pair of needle nose pliers for leverage and SNAP! I broke the knob off. If I take my car to the shop I just know they are going to charge at least $100.00. I am looking for a tool small enough to use in the little holes of the housing. Any suggestions?

you make it look easy my 2012 it seems impossible with my big hands. Bad design in my opinion., mine seems to be way further back.

Mine is a 2006 1st generation (2001-2007), Yours is a 2nd generation (2008-2013). They may have slightly changed something it in the redesign in 2008. I hope you were able to get it done, even though it was a pain. Thanks for the comments.

Any idea what to do if this doesn’t fix the brake light? That portion of the light still works when the brake pedal isn’t being pressed. And the bulb actually appears to be good; if I switch it with the same bulb on the left, the brake light does work on the left (and no longer works on the right). Maybe there’s a bad connection in there somewhere and I need to replace to whole assembly?

Actually… it magically started working now. Like, it was not working, I just left it alone for a while, and now it is working. Ha. Ummm

I dropped mine yesterday and thought it was gone forever, but all you gotta do is grab a stick and put some 3M tape at the end and grab stick it in the deep dark hole and extract! I just grabbed mine out like that! 😊😊😊

There are many many meanings and interpretations to the word vintage. The meaning that I’m referring to in my vehicle is “old but made of high quality”, like a fine wine.
