Hiking Cape Verde’s Most Active Volcano!

We hiked to the highest point of Cabo Verde! We explored the craters of the volcano and even got up close and personal with the eruption point from the 2014 eruption. I think this was a one and done type of situation but I’m so glad we did it . There are multiple tours and guides you can book but here are a few tips:
- You don’t have to book in advance . Sites like TripAdvisor were incredibly expensive . You can get to Chã and ask around for a guide if you are staying in the area .
- Wear warm clothing and sneakers with good grip
- Pack water and snacks . You’ll want it!
- Our tour cost was 6,000 Cape Verdean escudos which is about $58 USD for 2 people
- I recommend getting a very early start. The hike is a bit strenuous and you want to make it up before it gets super sunny or late.
This is a great activity to do if visiting Fogo, Cape Verde. I highly recommend !

This looks so much fun! Walking down I can only imagine how that feels 😮😂 I think if I ever traveled there I would maybe take a walking stick. I also thought it was cool how you two were determined to make it up the mountain. I know it felt great to be the first group of there. I definitely want to visit one day when I get to traveling! Oh! It was super cool how you showed us how you washed your clothes!
