    The slant of the straight six is to make the weight lower. A lower center of gravity. It makes for tighter and better handling.

  • @sppoitier1
    @sppoitier1 Před 3 lety +22

    Actually, you are correct. BMW did slant the engine for better weight distribution. They've been doing that since the 80's. Also, if your fluids are vanishing (like your oil and coolant), it means that the engine is sucking them up and burning them. Check for slightly white exhaust (coolant) or dark to dark blue exhaust (oil) to see if you're burning it. It may mean that you have a small internal leak.

      I had some coolant disappear, been keeping an eye on it & doesn’t look like it’s still losing any. Is it worthwhile to go get it looked at. by BMW or too insignificant for such a minor loss of fluid

      @@sirswishers4654 bmws over 100k there’s a reason they’re a cheap and get short term owners even though the driving experience is great. They’re great cars but so many things to break. I bought my bmw my 435i convertible from a dealership and had to bring it back so they can do repairs like struts, oil leaks and a lot more 5k repairs right after purchase. Another 8k within a year. Luckily I was covered for all of it with my platinum warranty package. People usually push these cars while not properly maintaining them so by the time they hit 100k it’s on life line so they just sell it for the next person to deal with. If you’re gonna cheap out and get a high mileage one prepare to be frustrated and get pre purchase inspection. I love my car and it’s my first car only reason I put so much money to keep it at its best I don’t plan on selling it. Don't have that much faith in BMW engineers. German engineering is all about planned obsolescence and getting people back to the workshop. They know they have a somewhat rabid fanbase (borderline Alfasti) and even if they get one or two angry customers they'll habe 40 people outside the showroom drooling, just waiting to be able to buy one. Now recently with the subscription service on hardware, and ugly design, it feels like they're intentionally pushing it to find the limit where people just say no :p
