    Howdy from Texas, been driving a 2007 h3 for almost 13 years now will never sell it has 193,+ miles on it.The biggest issue i had was trans rebuild at 110,000 miles which i was told was really good for a GM trans cost wasn't to bad,the next issue like all vehicles these days was the plastic radiator splitting on top easy to do cheap fix.One of the best upgrades to do is put a strong steering stabilizer on from outfitters it will drive like new and never worry about it again,the up grades can go on and on if you have been driving one as long as I have you will know they really are a great little rig to drive but the haters are just going to hate. Great content be safe and enjoy your h3.Peace

    Thanks for the video. I have a 06 Adventure that I bought in 2010. I currently have almost 220k miles on her and replaces the transmissions about 10k miles ago. No major issues otherwise. Keep up the maintenance and she’ll treat you right. I’m never getting rid of mine.
    Great review; capable 4wd vehicle; use it as intended.

    Nice review. Thanks.
    I bought a 2008 H3 "Luxury" in 2010 at 20k miles and still have it 12 years and 100k miles later. Exceptional vehicle especially for the price. The only major repair was the transfer case about 8 years ago. Had a water pump go out, wheel bearing, one window motor, etc. but nothing major other than the xfer case.
    1) As for towing, I pulled a fully packed U-Haul 6x12 trailer (had to be over 3k lbs) from Arizona to Minnesota with no issues at all. The towing capacity is 4,500 lbs and my H3 did exceptionally well towing - much better than I would have thought from an inline 5.
    2) There are a TON of aftermarket options for Hummer H3's.
    3) The temp gage should run at center - get your water pump and thermostat changed.
    4) The only ongoing issue is with the tire pressure monitoring system - I get a constant "low tire" warning that neither the "pros" nor I can figure out. Not a big deal.

      Nice. It sounds like you’re satisfied with the Hummer H3. I’ve been happy with mine for general overlanding trips. It could have more power. The wind here can be a factor.

    Temperature gauge on my h3 was doing the same. They lied! They TOLD me the same thing. One day my water pump went out. I Called onStar. Got me home. I replace the fan clutch and water pump. Antifreeze I used orange stuff 50/50 dex. Factory quality for GM and vehicles. My temp gauge is now in the middle. Every now in then moves up half a inch above middle. Literally maybe a cm lol. So I would try replacing the old fan clutch. Hummer 06 h3. Doesn't have electric fan. But its easy installation. Past three years I've been worry free with the temperature. Oh if you do it yourself. Go to AutoZone borrow the fan clutch tool. It's a special tool they have which makes the job so easy. 1hr half. Probably faster if I had to do it again. Now I know how to do it. But oh my gosh it was easy replacement of water pump and fan clutch. Hell beside serious stuff. If your handy. You can definitely maintain these trucks your self. Easy to work on.

      Cool. I'm looking into adding a small electric fan just to ease my mind!

    Very cool review. I watch the one when you first got it. Luckily you have had no problems with yours. Whoever had mine definitely didn't take care of it. At least I've changed so much on it including a new engine and just got it back a few weeks ago with a rebuilt transmission that hopefully soon I won't have anything left to change LOL. But I still would never get rid of it. It is unique and just as capable as a Jeep Rubicon. As for the temp gauge you are correct. Mine hovers in between 1/2 and 3/4 also. After connecting a scanner from my mechanic it shows engine temperatures are okay and from what I understand it is a calibration issue for those temp gauges that are in many other vehicles at that time besides the H3.

      Thanks! I remember your comment about your problems with yours and hoped I didn't get any of the same! Haha.

    • @Quis85
      @Quis85 Před 4 lety +2

      Easy fix. They told me same thing. I road for a year like that. Until water pump went out. I changed it and went ahead and changed fan clutch. Replace antifreeze as well. I used Dex antifreeze the orange stuff lol. Now it stays in the middle maybe moves cm above middle. Now once you do that. You will hear a different sound when fan engages. I almost lost my shits. Its a noise I never heard before lmao. Sounds like a jet or turbo is turning on and ita about to take off lol. I learned that's a normal sound when it disengage and engages lmao. Hot summer days it's loud. When it disengage. Its quite can't head a peep. While driving now ita cool to hear when it comes on. Especially being it's not an electric fan. Once it gets a set temperature. It automatically engages itself etc. So try that. It worked for me. Plus I seen in the forums as well. It was the fan clutch malfunction.

    I forgot to mention since you're a outdoor guy because I'm pretty much like you fishing and all.Put some red led floor interior and dome lights in, it will help at night to keep the flying bugs out of your rig when the doors are open for awhile because you know the big skeeters here in Texas will turn you into a buffet.

    i think the timing chain service is supposed to be done at 150k. at that same time youre also supposed to do the balancer chain. it is a very involved and expensive service from what ive read. removing the front axle to get the oil pan off to get to the timing chain and splitting the trans off the back to get to the balancer chain. im not looking forward to it on mine but i just turned over 100k so i have a little time left.

    nice review , im interested myself to buy a 2009 h3 with around 100 k miles , not for offroading really more for bad snowy roads , would u recommend it and is the 3.7 a reliable engine for a heavy vehicle like this ? and is it a warm vehicle in winter times 😊

    • @DirtwalkerOutdoors
      @DirtwalkerOutdoors  Před 3 lety +1

      I consider it reliable. As for a warm vehicle in cold weather, it sure seems popular with Russians.

    What do you think of the size of the H3 compared to the XJ? Both interior and exterior? Thanks for the nice videos overviewing your H3

    • @DirtwalkerOutdoors
      @DirtwalkerOutdoors  Před 3 lety +2

      The interior of the H3 is slightly wider and a little longer. It has a much wider stance than the XJ as well.

    What is the temperature reading on the gauge for the engine temp? I have a 02 envoy with inline 6 and it operates under 200 degrees on the gauge. If it goes higher then that, the story I’m telling myself is that I have an issue to look into.

    • @DirtwalkerOutdoors
      @DirtwalkerOutdoors  Před 4 lety +2

      I believe the half mark on the H3 with inline five is about 190/200.

    • @rizkybiss
      @rizkybiss Před 4 lety +3

      I have an 06 Hummer H3 and the temp gauge always hovers between middle and 3/4. My mechanic ran a scanner and engine temps are fine. If you look up Forums on H3 temp gauges and engines that are similar there are a lot of people that tell you the same thing. It is a defect and the calibration of the gauge and the only way to fix it is to change it out. You can't recalibrate it. But because of that I find myself looking at the tip gauge a lot more even though there is nothing wrong.

      IFS is always more delicate than solid axle. It's the tradeoff.

  • @GhostManBoo
    @GhostManBoo Před 2 lety +1

    My H3 has not only been more reliable, to include the IFS, but also waaaaay more off road capable than any jeep I’ve owned, but that’s just my experience 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Finding an H3 newer than 2006 with the adventure package/locking diff. is near impossible. I've looked and looked and they don't exist. Don't even get me started on finding an H3 alpha with the off-road package it's like finding Bigfoot.

    • @DirtwalkerOutdoors
      @DirtwalkerOutdoors  Před 4 lety +1

      I've found lots of h3 with adventure package in Texas on cargurus. I've also found a couple of 09 Alpha's with full lockers, and even an H3T Alpha with full lockers.

      @@DirtwalkerOutdoors I'm on the east coast and there's almost none, I've looked on craigslist, carfax, autotrader, cars.com, facebook, etc. I found 1 H3 2006 with adventure package low miles but I'm wanting 2007 or newer to get the larger engine and they're very hard to find. Plus most dealer's/sellers who list their H3's and say "adventure" package actually don't have it when you look at the pictures on the dash for the rear locking diff. button.

    • @DirtwalkerOutdoors
      @DirtwalkerOutdoors  Před 4 lety +1

    I have a jeep tj now and love it.. but I'm wanting one for a new daily.the only thing that throws me off is the i5. I've heard the 3.7 is more reliable than the 3.5.
