Every time I hear a Primus song I want to get up and duck walk around the room.
Larry is probably the most underrated guitarist ever.
The Bubonic J.
Usually wouldn't agree, but that intro is so beautiful.
He does a great job supporting les, and picks his spots. This is definitely the best I've heard.
Yes, right up there with adam jones
Im glad im not the only one
He seems to shrink from the spotlight
Him being underrated is at least somewhat his fault.
Agree he's very good though, without a doubt.
Dereck Piché yeah but with Adam and Larry less really is more
The Rainbpw Goblins needs a movie now with this soundtrack
this is great but i personally enjoy masayoshi takanakas verson from 81 czcams.com/video/IpPG3-2V1S8/video.html its very different but i would still recoment it
more of a funk fusion kinda thing
MY PANTALOONS GET SOGGY WHEN PRIMUS POSTS
I must now change my pantaloons, it appears I have shat myself.
This is the best they've ever sounded to me. Larry is channeling Steve Howe throughout and the progression is so satisfying. I absolutely love this.
You stole the words from my mouth...saw them live in Denver this year...best Primus show I've ever seen sounds weird but feels right...I've probably seen them at least 15 times in the last 20 years. Chocolate factory tour was awesome...but the material on this album is next level Primus and it feels so good🤘
Hell yea!!!
It’s so well put together and concise. They were always like that but seeing them mature has been nothing but impressive.
Primus in their... prime, shall I say.
that bassline just killing me
If Goblin rock really is a genre...this is the poster child!!
Necrogoblicon would like a word with you.
As would some Finnish and scandanavian black and death metal bands...
Just looked it up. 'The Rainbow Goblins' is a real book. Believe I heard Les say he was reading it to his daughter when the idea for this album came up.
I think he says that in a recent interview, yeah crazy inspiration!!
Still not sure if the book isn’t just something Les wrote and illustrated
Got this book and reading it to my kids. Vinyl is arriving on the 29th!
bob kedsky Nice!! When I met Les I told him I would sing his songs to my daughter when she was a baby, she really liked the story of Tommy the cat, he said to to me "that could either be good thing or a bad thing" then he signed her baby picture!!! Coolest person on Earth!!!
Tracy Suto that is so awesome that you met him and he did and said that!! I have two daughters and loved reading to them when they were younger. They both have good imaginations now too👍
Ler's intro is magical
Primus please make a White Goblin continuation. I've never been so enamored with a piece of music in my life. I didn't think it was possible. And to think it's based on a children's picture book. Each and every listen leaves me speechless.
Amazing stuff. Quite the saga for these little goblins..
Shits amazing!
Larry outdid himself
Why isn't this the top comment?
Agreed, I noticed that too
And that is a difficult thing indeed. And yet he managed. The absolute bastard.
Word up!
what instrument does he play?
Man, I've been a fan of Primus since the Misc. Debris days and this newer stuff is just as awesome in its own original way. These aren't just songs. They are stories, fables, lies, truths and fairytales for the open minded. Always have been. Suck on This!
True, Primus really has been about storytelling from the beginning
Les said in an interview that originally, he couldn't sing, because he knew he was not a good singer
He decided he wasn't singing, he was narrating the stories he wrote, and thinking of it that way, he was able to get over his stage fright.
@@asteriskcolon Not only Les' adroit bass riffs, but his erudite lyricism is what drives me to Primus many years later. Even the most casual listener can get a free $30-vocabulary lesson from listening to Les' stories!
When this is played live, stretch out that beauty of an intro for a month of Sunday's.
James Rategan just saw the whole album live and it was insane how much Primus sucks
John Jackson me to in Charlotte nc
I heard them live. From a boat. Echoing over the harbor. The sound was surreal
@@Serveck were you sailing the seas of cheese
Probably my favorite of the album right now. Amazing Bass chords and different rhythms, and has a much more progressive flair than previous material.
Great job Primus!
This album is going to be a fucking trip!
TheRubberStudiosASMR HELL YEAHH
Trip... Indeed...
Mine too. Tied with wish you were here. Shame they took the chimneys down from the actual building. Not the same
TheRubberStudiosASMR Sorry to tell you this, but I already have he album. Two days early.
ITS GOING TO BE A FUCKING *TREK*
I love this album. Primus have so many different sounds over time, what a great band.
Can’t get enough of this album true primus fans will freak it’s a must have
It sucks
This was my favorite song off the new album to see live. Thank you for coming to our small venue in avila beach, we all hope you're here again!
The sound in this album is amazing
Holy fuck that bass, I just came buckets
bucketheads
This is the stuff trips are made of
Primus are the true heirs of the Fugs, Zappa and Beefheart. Long may they reign
With a can of pork soda and a head like a potato
Martin Grimshaw really happy you mentioned the fugs!!
Sounds like you got the frenzy, babbbbbbeeeeeeeyyy. :D
So fucking happy the primus fanbase is alive and well to this day
Alex Pena Since Lollapolooza '92. They sucked then, they suck now. Can't wait to see them next month.
Primus tickles me in a way no other sound can.
rainbow bass + rainbow goblin = primus
yep!
This album rocks. They've always been skilled and creative, but man they have really grown as musicians and composers
Primus never disappoints. Long time fan...teen in the 90's dreaming with your songs in the background. That... bass....mmmm....damn...
The creativity....this has become the Psilocybin story time! Thanks guys, I've seen you jam a number of time, looking forward to sharing your mind...till we meet again...cheers.
verytime...
Am I the only one seeing a phallic-shaped rock on the background ? What a blowing song though
Maxime Weve ‘blowing’... I see what you did there lol
thanks, you ruined the video
Man I completely forgot I read this book as a kid, all the memories are coming back.
My personal favorite of this album.
Same
+
Love this series. You should make a movie about this! 🥳😁🤓
the main riff @ 2:56 is the coolest Primus riff to date.
Dont forget to wish Les happy birthday on the 29th
A whole music video by panning around one picture
two pictures
Buy this book... the art is incredible. I have a signed copy by the band, I really want the artist to sign it too.
Cheers to the first Primus concept album
I'm not disappointed so far... hoped but didn't dare assume they'd do more great, original stuff after Naguahyde.
Primus and the chocolate factory is a concept album.
@@benp.320 I guess that's true, but it's not particularly original, I wouldn't call it an original concept album, more of a cover album that doubles as a concept album.
shit got real at 2:55
One of my favorite Primus songs.
I feel Primus could make an album about anything. I want a Primus album next all about Robin Williams films.
Soooooo funky and proggy, man I love it. It took a little bit and I had to clear my head of all the other Primus works but after I did and closed my eyes it was AWESOME!!!
Just awesome. Primus is back, god tier.
this really gives me a purple onion feel
Windows BC I heard that too
personally it left me feeling turquoise cucumber, but I can see where you're coming from
left me with a chrome tomato to be honest
There is so much fun oozing from those songs. Les and Co. sound inspired and happy.
Amazing stuff , I especially dig "the seven" Larry is amazing , he's so underrated because Les is such a polarizing and out spoken figure , but Larry outdid himself on this album !!
favourite song of the album
I wanna see a full on primus rainbow goblins dark ride at a theme park.
One of the best guitar partures and solos in psichodelic experimental RnR album, ever...
this is becoming one of my favorite prog albums of all time
Just hooked up and dialed in my preamp, didnt know this existed, it fell in my lap. Wow man. like whoa baby alright... 👍🏼 Yesh yesh y'all... 🤩🤠
Progressive rock revival
It really is prog rock, even though I'd still argue Primus is more thrash-funk or funk-metal than anything.
They can wear many hats, anyone can when they're this good at music.
doesn't need to be revived
Kevin Phillips just because he slaps the bass doesn't make it funk metal. They don't consider themselves funk metal
In his interview with Metallica, Les joked "wanna jam on some isley brothers"
He's got interest in funk, if not a background. Funk is an especially loosely defined genre anyway... they don't consider themselves many genres, iirc
It would be hard to put Primus in a genre, but I'd say the trash funk is about as close as you can get. The funk is there in pretty much every song.
Those bass licks!! Les has so much room to roam with Herb!!!
I was recently listening to Possessed and it’s amazing to hear Larry’s versatility on guitar.
Wow, Primus has never sounded quite like this.
Wonderful diversion as only Primus...
The description calls Les "Christopher p Bacon" lol.
Suddenly, a wetrat Crispy Bacon 👌👌👌
Because Les isn't reading it, Chris P Bacon is.
I know a Christopher Philip Bacon. No joke. He was in a 2 man band called Bacon and Egg. Good guy
paul G are you les?
Mr. White negative
This is probably the best I've heard Ler play...
Great show live, caught them this last Saturday, awesome times
twisty slappin' & groovy epicnessniss Les Ler & Tim 😃👍
Omg! My good friend gave me this book in highschool because he showed it to me and being the (weirdo,hippy/goth girl that did alot of psychedelics), he knew id love it. I had this book for years. I need to ask my 21 yr old son if he remembers me reading this book to him. Not sure but i somehow lost this wonderful imaginative book. Ive thought about this book from time to time but knowing one of my favorite bands created a whole album tributed to this whimsical story, this is such a fantastic find.
So looking forward to getting this album
LOVE IT!!!!!
This album is gonna be epic...!!!! A magnificent trip...
This deserves to be heard live to fully appreciate
I've been a fan for such a long time. Such an amazingly talented group!
In the middle of a good one right now. Fucking great job!!! Holy shit!!!!
This is an amazing song. Just amazing.
And when the 7th seal was opened by the Desaturating 7- it read Primus Does Not Suck
Saw these guys live last Saturday where did this whole album. Amazing show and I bought the cd the next day and have not stopped listening to it.
It's phenomal.
With that said I can see why it's not loved.
Oh so good, and never gets old!
DANG!!! this slaps. this is my favorite song off the album so far
This is the best i've heard from this album so far!
can't wait for this album!
Bedtime story yay
Chapter 5 please!!! Two and a half days is still too long to wait!
This is by far my favorite off the album.
First heard about this book 20 years ago from my college roommate. He would have been soexcited to see this as he loved that and Primus.
Sic, never seen this. Primus was one of my favorite bands. Havnt thought of them in 15-20 years. Glad I did down the rabbit hole I go 🐰💚 🌈
wow primus is back love your quirky style and outlook on life and oh! I'm a life long fan 😊.
Great way to start my day!
They're coming to my city the day after my birthday.
I absolutely LOVE THISSSS!!!!!
this album is fantastic !
orange and red...seem pretty.......close
this was acually an italien children book from 1944. sorry for bad english
No it's from 1978 the author was born in 1944
Will be seeing them with Mastodon in June, so excited!
The solo instrumentals & storytelling take me back to the Fisherman's Chronicles.
Dear Les .I Heart you.
Been a while since I've picked up a bass, but this song makes me want to, and figure out this song. One of the coolest basslines I've heard
This is exactly what I wanted to come home too
Absolutely great album, love it. Primus has so many different styles resp. ways of interpretation, its astounding. Makes me think about the old Genesis, Trick of a trail a.o.
Wow! This new primus album is just calling for my yearly lsd journey. So delicious!
My favorite Primus... Les Claypool... Album. And I love all of them..
God damn, Ler is killing it on this track!
Love that rainbow bass!
this is amazing
This is Primus-prog!!! and I love it!
"I'm gonna be in a band with Tim and Larry and you can't stop me mom!" How I imagine one of the most unique and talented bands ever starting lol
Can't wait to listen "The Storm"
Prog Rock Epic Concept Album, meets Primus. My 2 favorites genres, but never thought they would meet before!
This is like the Primus version of The Necromancer.
