- We did it! Road to a Suzuki is the story of how all the support from the CZcams community helped me to buy a New Suzuki Every Camping Car here in Japan. The Suzuki Every is a car I researched for a while and I knew it would be a perfect little Kei Van to go Camping in Japan.
If you are new to the Channel, my name is Chani and I am a middle aged Australia who was stuck in a rut and moved to Japan to live. I bought an Akiya or empty house and started renovating. I'd love it if you joined the community.

I love the faux wood trim, my grandfather had a stationwagon with wood trim that we called the "woody wagon", lol. Maybe something tree inspired, like Aspen, Juniper, Willow, etc.?

Thank you for the gratitude and taking us along on another delightful adventure. Fun to see the Japanese auto delivery ceremony. Having grown-up in the automobile business in America I tried to explain it to friends in the auto business many years ago but most people here can't really imagine it. The wood trim option is quite tastefully done and adds a bit of uniquness to the vehicle, perhaps 'Woody' might be a name to consider?
Also, it was interesting to see you using you Honko for the purchase. Decades ago I found some things in Japan could be challenging without one. I half expected that by now Honko might have been replaced with some digital ID, but I quite like the tradition and concept of Honko, and was thinking that a short video about obtaining your Honko might be interesting for viewers of the channel.
I would love a video all about Honko. I’d never heard about it before.

I'm from the UK and I really love your vlogs. I thought 'Wanda' might be a good name for your car as you will be using your car to wander and explore. I've spent a lot of time in Japan with my Japanese husband and I love it there. At the moment our commitments dictate that we cannot be there, and I'm really missing Japan. 😊

The sticker looks so good and the style suggests that it absolutely must be called Woody. From watching car camping channels in Japan the bug net unzips from the bottom so that you can unzip and access the interior easily.
The onsen looks wonderful and has so many facilities.

I think the meaning of customer service means very different in Japan, compared to that typically seen in North America where once you signed the purchase agreement, you would pretty much become a stranger. There are YT videos of how good/amazing post-sale services offered by Japanese carmakers/dealers are. Chani's 1000-km service check is already scheduled.
@@qtdcanada In the US, it really depends upon the price of the vehicle, unfortunately. I you purchased a BMW or other luxury vehicle, your 1,000 km service check would also be scheduled - you would never receive flowers. If you purchase a lower end car or a used car, they'll work to help you get the best car for your price range but service typically ends once the agreement is signed, particularly if you purchase a used car. You would only be a complete stranger to low end used car dealers or after several years have passed since the purchase.

On my camper van the fly net zips from bottom up so you can tie sides back when screen is open for easy loading/access through tailgate.

My suggestion for a name? Woody because of the faux wood paneling. Or...... forest because of the forest gree color. So when you drive, you can say, "run forest run!".

Everyone is suggesting "woody", but I think it deserves a Japanese equivalent, how about Moriko chan, or Shinrinsha? I think the second one would be my choice as it could be read as forest car or forest wanderer.

I watch all your vids on my tv and wanted to say thanks for inspiring me.
My wife is Japanese and I'm a 44 year old Englishman. We've been planning on moving to Japan for a few year's now, which I really want to do, but I've always been a bit worried if I can adapt to living there because of my age - but you've given me the confidence to go for it!

Btw, we visited Wakayama last year and think it's great. Wakayama castle is really nice and we stayed 4 nights close to Shirahama beach, so we swam every day and the water and sand were really clean. We did snorkeling and saw loads of different fish. Have you swam there yet? 😁

I think the yellow number plate means it's a kei car but it looks spacious and well specified for its size. So good when the car can link to your phone nice and easily. Hope you enjoy driving it to many beautiful places.

Michi-no-eki are also a great place to stay overnight if you have a campervan or a vehicle you can sleep in. Many have showers and some even have onsen/sento! And yes, it is often a great place to find local specialities. The onsen looked great.

🎉 congrats the van blew my mind especially the colouring , that stripe , just wow !! I tried to Google it last time to see if they sell it here but I doubt it, also I guess you can only get to those special rest stops if you drive, I've always liked those as I've seen a few on videos , the way you described the types of onsens is good I've always wondered how the water is cleaned etc when they aren't using water that comes up from the ground, also you wanted to name your car ,what about Daisy idk 😅 I do like that name
Congratulations; it’s an adventure to pick up a car in Japan. The customer service is fantastic from the dealership. We😮 picked up our Honda N Box just pre Covid and didn’t drive it again for 18 months when we were able to get a short business visa with a lot of jumping through lots of hoops. The N box has just done 1000km and we hope to do a month long Japanese camping road trip next year.

Congratulations on getting your Every! I loved the way it was handed over to you, with flowers and bows. We had a similar experience in Michigan, with Carvana. They put a HUGE red bow on the hood of our Kia and had it displayed under spotlights when we picked it up. Life should be a series of small celebrations, I think. Happy camping to you and Millie!
