@mossow71 i found out that black plastic adjuster is an extension for the idle screw behind the carb, fuel/air is somewhere else, but that shown in the video is the idle. All good now, running great, well actually not running at all. Chain came off rear sprocket and jammed up between front sprocket and swing arm. Changing chain + sprockets ;)
@gusocorredor take off the carb turn it upside down take off the bottom cover then take off the float thing, the valve that the floats open and close is what usually gets gunked up on my raptor. take every screw out spray it with carb cleaner then put the screws back in and blow out all the holes with an air compressor if you got one
@jarreau2001 no, it runs fine, it did turn off in the begging cus it had been sitting for 7 months but now it just does it when idling. i think it could be the idle but if you listen to it carefully before it turns off the idle is unstable like it wants to keep going but ends up turning off
@green2stroke i have no idea, it doesnt bog or anything, the guy tht sold it to me gave me a complete list of what it has, technically oil mod, exhaust and air filter which are aftermarket, i recomend the bike the way it is, everyone recommends oil mod and zip tie, all i know is that i changed the coolant seals cus it was leaking and tuned the carby, and camshaft chain. i am having trouble with the charging system, they say you have to leave the lights in the ON position to charge, but mine
@gusocorredor so i am going to take it to another shop, hoping the pist & cyl is ok, cam chain (for sure) and get the cam shafts checked, then ill have to tell them to completely disarm and rearm the carby correctly + get the electrics checked cus my left headlight always burns out, i dont think its charging the battery and the lights will only run if the yfz is on (if i turn the key on and the light switch is on nothing happens, but im not sure about this since its a sport ATV) i got it usedBTW
screw the idle screw clickwise and it will idle it up I had a 05 yfz450 that did the same thing... it will take a few screws in and out and a couple of rev's but you will get it right... thats my 2 cents. :)
@TheNuggetface i dont think thts the problem cus the guy cleaned it but he didnt ar it right, i think its the trottle cable sensoer cus i opened the canle box at the thumb accelerator and it shuts off as soon as it hits the swith when i let go, i think its the senoer which is mal adjusted :S anyway my yfz isnt here yet so once it comes ill have to transfer the documents from the old country to this one and then fix it.
@iiidreamiii there was somin wrong with the carby, a little fine tuning and voila, its up and running, im just figuring out hte battery charging system, doesnt seem to charge, but if the fan turns on while riding it does but if i ride fast, it has enough air to keep cool so fan doesnt turn on and battery doesnt charge :S
@Tiddler19, a week later it didnt turn on, after pushing it and starting, i used it for a minute then, nothing more. my cam chain was ruined (very hard and one of the little plates missing), changed the chain and then the guy at the shop also tried to clean the carb and made it worst, so now my quad runs (new cam chain), smokes and as soon as i let go off thottle, no matter how high my idle is, it shuts off, my guess is that maybe the top end is good now but my throttle position sensor is wrong
@gusocorredor mines turned three turns out, u screw all the way in then turn out. but thats set just like jetting so urs could be different, ill try to get a video of mine tommorow
@yamahagytrracing21 yes it is a keihin, now i prob turneed that screw a couple of times so how do i know what the ratio was? how many turns do you suggest, all the way to the left then two out or all the way to the right and two to the left??? plus is the idle screw up left when i look straight at it as in looking at the pegs or on the other side?? do i take any covers out (fender)??
thats prob not ur idle screw, thats prob a fuel/ air mixture screw, it should be up high on the left side somewhere you can miss it. but is that a keihin fcr carb?
Does it shut off even when you give it gas or during riding? If so, it is not getting enough gas. Has the bike been sitting for a while without running? Possible bad gas?
@yamahagytrracing21 if it backfires its too rich right, too much gas burning at pipe, so left is leaner and right is richer??? have you made the vid to show me the idle screw, still cant see it, do i take the side cover out??
@green2stroke but mine only charges when the fan turns on :S and the lights run off the alternator so i dont know why people say tht leaving lights on solves the problem, so i charge before each ride, just in case....... i have been in situations where i had to push and quickly put it in gear :/
@gusocorredor when i got it, it backfired cus the exhaust was loose, and i thought it was ok so could tht be the reason of why the cam chain slipped,??, IDK, i know how things work but i dont know how to fix them, oh and the smoke tht comes out is white, it cant be water cus i changed the bearing and water seals for the YFZ water pump problem everyone gets. and it only started smoking after the guy "cleaned" the carb and misplaced the throttle position sensor :S
your idle is too low thats why its shutting off turn up your speed adjuster different all yfz's speed adjuster is behind the carb not in front.its hard to adjust the speed adjuster on the kehin fcr carbs.
if you keep turning the idle up and it keeps dieing either way, then you could be going through a top end. losing compression. i would have a compression test done
@yamahagytrracing21 yeah a vid would be perfect, after u show me where the idle screw is, turn the yfz on so i can here it and get the rpm as close to yours as i can. thanks :D is yours fuel injection or keihin carb??

@gusocorredor what year is your yfz 450 check too see if your chain is tight every ride and you wont have that problem
thats prob not ur idle screw, thats prob a fuel/ air mixture screw, it should be up high on the left side somewhere you can miss it. but is that a keihin fcr carb?
Try to shift the sparkplug, it helped to me :)
@green2stroke not the charging system, i dont have time now
Does it shut off even when you give it gas or during riding? If so, it is not getting enough gas. Has the bike been sitting for a while without running? Possible bad gas?

@gusocorredor ill post it tonight or tommorow morning
@yamahagytrracing21 yes its a keihin fuel injection is junk on quads
your idle is too low thats why its shutting off turn up your speed adjuster different all yfz's speed adjuster is behind the carb not in front.its hard to adjust the speed adjuster on the kehin fcr carbs.
@Tiddler19 its all ok now, got a good mechanic going through carby

check the fuel, sound like its not getting enough or dirt in carb
turn up your idle its too low i had same problem you have to play around with speed dial.
do u have have the zip tie mod done to it
o ok did u get it fixed
See if the carb is dirty
