    Super Metroid laid down the foundations and Symphony of the Night perfected them... No Super Metroid, no Symphony of the Night.

      There's a reason why nowadays the genre is called "Metroidvania", after all.

    BS that this is a Sony exclusive for some reason

      Yeah I wanna play them on the switch

      The story goes Konami didn't want to port them at all but Sony bankrolled it hence the PS exclusivity.
      But that's just Konami being moronic because both these games are classics and would sell like hotcakes on multiple platforms.

    Symphony of the Night is a god-tier game, and stands out for still being one of the best of its subgenre even now when there's a thousand of its ilk. I played the PS1 version on the Vita.
    I got this Requiem collection on PS4 in order to play Rondo of Blood. Really good stuff (made me want to play more PC Engine games), but yeah, brutal difficulty. Overall I think I like Bloodlines just a little more, as far as that era of Castlevania goes.

    I got requiem when it was on sale and i noticed no sound issues i read your comment about them not playing sometimes that never happened for me my only complaint I dont think is even port specific I found sotn incrediblely easy and rondo bullshit hard but i am normally bad at classicvania games and love metroidvanias so that could be it

    Incredible soundtrack for sure!

    I'm pretty sure the map not filling correctly happens in the PS1 version as well.
    Sounds are off?

    • @ThreeMinuteGaming
      @ThreeMinuteGaming  Před 10 měsíci

      No, it's a bug specific to the PSP version. It actually works fine in 360 version as well (which is a straight emulation of the PS1 version).
      Something must have happened when they went into the game to change the VO back in the day.

    • @vito5328
      @vito5328 Před 10 měsíci

      @@ThreeMinuteGaming Bu what do you mean exactly with sounds being off? Because some are different from the PS1 version like the monsters dying cries. Those are from the Saturn version.

    • @ThreeMinuteGaming
      @ThreeMinuteGaming  Před 10 měsíci

      @@vito5328 Yeah, not that, specifically sometimes sound effects just wouldn't happen. I also had issues with music looping oddly, though that was less common.

    • @vito5328
      @vito5328 Před 10 měsíci

      @@ThreeMinuteGaming That's odd. I haven't noticed anything of that and I'm been playing the PSP version for years.

    • @ThreeMinuteGaming
      @ThreeMinuteGaming  Před 10 měsíci

      @@vito5328 Yeah, didn't have issues with the PSP version (played it on Vita back in the day) but just on this version and just on SOTN. Might be a PS5 thing since that's what I played it on, not sure.

    I was a bit disappointed with this one. I picked it up because it was dirt cheap so I can only be so upset about it. But I had never played rondo of blood, and I know symphony is basically the direct follow-up for that
    But I am not ashamed to admit I'm never going to beat that game. It's too damn hard. And it reminds me why all of my favorite Castlevania games are the ones that are built like symphony of the night. As far as the classics go I really just only like super Castlevania 4, and bloodlines. And even those kick my ass a lot. In super Castlevania I've still never made it past death
    But this version of symphony being the mobile port, it has different voice acting and a different script. I guess it's closer to a direct translation but I think it loses a lot of the charm
    I know there are issues with the 360 port of it too but that's definitely going to be the one that I stick to to revisit symphony. It was like Christmas for me when they released the advanced collection, those were the three that I really grew up playing.
    I'm here however because they just dropped the Castlevania dominus collection. I never had a DS growing up so I'm excited to be able to play through those three, and then there's a total remake of haunted castle, the arcade Castlevania. Which I'm sure I will also find too hard but I'm still eager to try it
    Anyway nice quick concise little review here.

    • @ThreeMinuteGaming
      @ThreeMinuteGaming  Před 2 dny

      Yeah, review for Dominos Collection drops tomorrow, crazy that the just stealth dropped it!
      The remake of Haunted Castle is fantastic, actually, and employs some modern stuff to make it a lot easier and beatable. Unlike the arcade original which is an absolute monster.
      Thanks for your comment!

    As far as I understand it this port was mostly handled by Sony - with "signing off on it" being the extent of Konami's direct involvement insofar as development is concerned. I thought I'd leave this feedback b/c ur a channel with v. impressively good looking editing, presentation etc for its size. However reading the description with this discrepancy in mind gave me the first impression of you as someone who doesn't really care about looking into things, or about providing a truly balanced and well-thought persepective. Not saying that you do or don't but just saying that's the impression i got for constructive criticism :))) good luck with the channel!

      Thanks for letting me know! I actually did a ton of research on the collection and everything I read said that Sony paid for the collection but Konami were the ones who hashed it together, hence me being critical of Konami. Honestly it seems nobody knows 100% for sure who exactly half-assed it, but blaming Konami is easier because they seem to screw up most stuff these days, lol.

      Well now we also have a mediocre port of the DS games, so I guess this is on konami too lol
