      mgclyrics ikr! at the end of the day, he was the only one willing to pay for all of their crimes which says a lot about everyone else because connor is the only one who really did the least amount of criminal things and made it clear that they can’t keep doing those kind of things. laurel is so egocentric i agree. she put everyone in danger in s4 for revenge for wes when i don’t really think wes would want anyone else to get hurt, or would want laurel manipulating everyone into what she tells them to do. she used the fact connor hated himself to get him to go along with her dumb plan that didn’t even work. connor hasn’t been okay since the beginning. there have been issues long before he started working for annalise, but they only worsened when everything kicked off. he deserved so much better.

      I think in annalises has gotten him out early
      1. As Lorsti1 originally noted think, Annalise is very possibly laying the groundwork for the defense of Connor in court in her press conference when she makes a special nod to "informants who are themselves victims" of the plot.
      2. While on trial herself, she deployed Frank to get the details on Connor's sentence. 3. It's out of character for Annalise to simply let him rot in jail. She's not perfect but think she'd care a lot in this case, and her protective instincts would kick in. 4. It's out of character for Oliver to sit around and allow Annalise to not do anything, even if she somehow wasn't going to do anything originally. He still has means to blackmail her, and also has the info of all that Connor was willing to sacrifice for her, and on top of that he is one of the best manipulators when he wants to be.
      5. Even moreso as Annalise copes with grief (.e. Wes -> class action) by defending justice for others.
      6. That Connor and Oliver showed up at her funeral. If the last thing between them was her throwing him under teh bus after he risked his life to deliver Gabe's recording to her - and risked his marriage to block Oliver's testimony - he may have, like Michaela appears to have, broken ties. But he's there. And it's even bigger that Oliver is there -- even if Connor could in some universe foraive somethina like that(unlikely, he held the grudge against his dad for a decade and a half), it seems even less likely that Oliver would. 7. That Connor is alive. Not only is he at acute risk of killing himself the longer he stays in jail, but he also threatened Lanford's career, vowing to take him down, giving others motives to make it look like he killed himself. This all fits into Annalise "not wanting blood on her hands" very well.

    I think most of the characters are pretty messed up in this show but other than the red flags from his past, I think the thing that most haunted Connor was Sam and all the other murders. I think that was resolved at the end when he goes to prison. He seems to want to go and that ending made the most sense for his character. Ironically when he was arrested, he was more free than he was the rest of the show.

    That whole conversation made me hate Connor’s dad so much, like I already thought his dad was shitty but that speech was just too much.
    First, being all “I know you, I’ve known you your whole life” is bullshit. Maybe he taught Connor to play catch, but he basically abandoned Connor at age 12, after decades of such distance he doesn’t get to act like he somehow knows Connor better than Connor knows himself.
    Then the whole “you’ve never needed other people” thing is just ridiculous. We all need other people. Connor might be more independent than most people, probably in part because he was forced to take care of himself from early on, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have emotional needs.

      It also makes sense with the scene of Connor being led away. He gave his ring to Oliver and Oliver said,
      “No I'm not doing this. I know better. I'm not signing those papers. You're gonna be happy. I know better. “
      Oliver understands and accepts Connor's decision of going to jail, and he's going to wait for him.

I thought about them all needing therapy too. But who would really keep their secrets? [Edited for typo.]

    The writers really messed up. I've felt this way most of the series but couldn't put it into words. I also didn't understand why in the Final season he was the only one being punished while everyone else got their happy endings.

      annabel s i completely agree with you! liking sex is one thing, but almost defining your entire worth to it and using as a means of a survival pushes it into the unhealthy category. they paid him dust in regards to his mental health. he has been struggling long before he came to middleton and i hate how they just brush it under the rug. and theoretically connor does get a good ending, but also not really. he’s the only one selfless and morally-conflicted enough to do the right thing while everyone else doesn’t do the ‘right’ thing. however, he does eventually grow old with oliver and paid for his very little role in everyone’s crimes. it’s sad but i never expected him to get a happy ending. the writers aren’t that nice to him.

      @@happywalshx2998 i heard that he went to jail, served his time and then got out. and ikr??? like there's having lots of fun, safe, healthy sex and there's,,, doing whatever Connor is doing. i almost want to call him hypersexual maybe as a result of the fact he literally lost his virginity *young* (but maybe not young?? idk whats up with America and underage stuff ngl).
      he had panic attacks and was generally unhappy, its- its so annoying the writers didn't do anything with that because it could have been wonderfully heartbreaking/fulfilling to see him discuss and try work through some of that stuff with Oliver. just- just a good plot point to utilise idk why they didnt jump on the angst train with that one.
      ive seen some stuff to do with the ending and it kinda sucks that he went to jail like idk what happened with everyone else but- just- d u d e.
      and technically he did assist in a crime like im not gonna ignore that bc i love him but he was mostly involved with the removal of the body not the actual murder. idk the details.
      i saw a clip of the HTGAWM ending and hes older with them grey hairs but he is standing with oliver so thats super sweet

      annabel s the age or consent in michigan where he grew up is 16. so him having sex at 14 possibly younger with far older men is illegal. his psyche is very complex because of the lack of information we know about his upbringing. it’s clearly stemmed from there based on what we know but we just don’t have the full picture. i might do a video on his psyche at some point to help figure out why he is the way he is. there definitely was a lot of potential in this storyline for the show and i wish the writers went with it. and yes! i agree with hating when they slut-shame him. it’s uncalled for. if he started doing that with the women who do it to him he’d end up being seen as a villain. it’s just dumb.

    I love this compilation and Connor is my second favorite character, but the one I love the most, but I didn't think the writers ignored him, in fact I believed they handled it in the most realistic way that they could and I even think that having Oliver was a way to give him something good that they didn't give to the rest of the characters. Because no way that they gave him what? Therapy? There was no way. They handled it during all the seasons which is more than many series can tell where a character has anxiety one season and the next one magically goes away.

    • @happywalshx2998
      @happywalshx2998  Před 2 lety +2

      i agree with this for the most part but they kinda did (at least i saw it that way) ignore it, specifically the bus scene. that is a crucial moment for any character to go through (they’ve done this with frank & bonnie etc. as well) but they don’t really do much with it. they basically just write in a traumatising scene and pretend it never happened. the only actually difference between connor and their scenes with this topic is that there are other people who are aware of it happening. as of canon, no one knows about the bus. annalise knows he felt that way but she doesn’t know how close he came to doing something about it. it’s mainly just frustrating to me. there was a lot unsaid. overall, i think it was realistic in the sense that it was his overarching theme to his character- and i guess set up his ending in a way because he clearly had ptsd and was so traumatised he couldn’t pretend it never happened. wish the writers didn’t just throw these kinda things in and not do anything. i could honestly make an entire analysis video on this subject lmao

      Yeah. Connor lost his virginity when he was 14 and the other guy was 18. There was another time with those same ages as well. The one that sticks out the most is the one where his mother knew about it and the guy was 23 years old, and Connor was underage. This seems to be a pattern in his early adolescence, so we can kind of assume there are more stories like this.

    I disapprove of many things Connor did/said in the show, but I do love his humanity and empathy. The truth is, sometimes I loved his character, sometimes I hated it. His anger outburst at Annalise at 7:19 still fills me up with rage to this day, for instance, while his suicidal and depressive episodes make me feel sorry for him. All in all, I think the ending he got in the last season was realistic and fitting.

    Conner was the only one being a realist. The others were all acting on their feelings so clearly clouding their judgement. Like Conner deserved so much better.

      They made Connor a guilt-cantered character and that made it impossible for him to ignore all that bad things they did. Most of the others just seemed to live in denial/ didn’t let it define them. While everyone has definitely had their moments of guilt, Connor has been rooted in it. He was the first one to suggest going to the police and gathered everyone up to do so. Looking back, in hindsight, we all probably should’ve seen the ending coming lmao

    Okay even though he has his issues and anxieties and whatnot.. it’s unfair to be mad at laurel for talking him down! She was Wes’s girlfriend and mother of his child and Connor was very shameless and mean towards Wes’s death before he confessed to everyone.. I’m just trying to say that they’re both in the wrong and both in the right!

    • @happywalshx2998
      @happywalshx2998  Před 3 lety +47

      the reason he was acting like that was because he was traumatised at being the only one who found wes dead and it was his responsibility to save him, which he obviously failed, but the guilt of it sent him spiralling and into a depression. he suffers from ptsd, and you can clearly see his mental health get worse afterwards. and with all due respect, i don’t think telling someone to k word themselves while they’re clearly distressed is ‘talking him down’ it’s cruel. she even did it her mother and bonnie. people with known mental problems. she doesn’t care. she doesn’t understand the importance of those words. you can’t be mad at laurel for being upset about the situation but you can be mad at her saying those things and then never apologising. and keeping who killed wes to herself before blackmailing everyone into helping get revenge- even using the fact she knew connor hated himself to get him on board with her dumb plan. i mean i’m not saying connor’s in the right of saying what he said cause he’s not but you do have to understand that he was just trying to make sense of it and justify why it happened because he was the only one there and there was no one buy himself to blame. and he struggled with that guilt til the end of the show. out of everyone, he is the only one who actually showed remorse and has tried to stop these things happening. sorry for this long paragraph lmao

      telling someone who's clearly dealing with mental health issues to kill themselves is far from talking them down lmao. if she just said a bunch of mean things then sure i would say she did it out of pain but this is never ever right, not to mention she did the same thing to her mother as well. it's messed up
