- Day 2 of my epic Mae Hong Son loop road trip in Thailand is off to a great start! Waking up in the cozy embrace of my budget hotel in the chill town of Mae Chaem, I'm ready to explore the local vibes.
After catching some Zs, I hit up the morning market to mingle with the locals and soak in the town's laid-back charm. My mission? Find the ultimate breakfast spot for some fuel before hitting the road again. A super friendly market lady hooks me up with a sweet riverside eatery - talk about breakfast with a view!
Chowin' down on a hearty brekkie, I decide to cruise around another part of Mae Chaem, taking in the cool scenes before revving up for the next leg of my journey. The road awaits, and so does the adventure!
Saddled up on my trusty scooter, I bid farewell to the sleepy town vibes of Mae Chaem, ready to conquer the winding roads of the Mae Hong Son loop. The journey is challenging, but the thrill is real, and the scenery is next level.
After hours of cruising through breathtaking landscapes and navigating some twists and turns, I roll into Mae Sariang - the end of today's road warrior quest. The satisfaction of conquering the road is real, and a well-deserved chill awaits at my new hotel.
Settling into my digs, I kick back with a refreshing beverage, soaking in the triumphs and challenges of the day. Join me on this laid-back adventure as we explore the hidden gems of Thailand's Mae Hong Son loop - one winding road at a time.

Reminds me of the rural life I was born and raised in. As a kid, theres so much to do. As you get older, yeah you want to spread your wings. Can't beat being raised in a smaller rural area, kids tend to be more respectful and grounded. Thumbs up, Wayne, thumbs up.

What sort of helmet have you got and is it easy to buy something in Chiang Mai, any tips would be appreciated. Ride safe.
Thank! Proper riding gear is recommended. I make sure I at least wear jeans and proper shoes. Some people are on the loop in flip flops and shorts. My helmet is a cheap one, it's hard to find a real good quality helmet in Chiang Mai, and even if you do, it's hard to know if it's real.

I just did the loop in a Hilux and it is tough driving in a pickup. I think the stretch from Mae Sariang to Mae Hong Son was my favorite. But the side trip to Ban Rak Thai was very interesting, a Chinese village in Thailand.

Was at Mae Chaem last last week with one of the big bike groups, nice ride out from Chiang Mai, make sure your chin strap on your helmet is tight!!!!!

I'm not sure what a A2 license is, but you can ride any bike with an international licence, yes 👍
