    Yes great advice for buzzer fishing, especially about scaling down lighter. I only fish 5lb at Garnffrwyd fishery which is only 2mile from me.
    Ive been at that fishery when everyone is blanking and im slamming fish after fish on the middle peg😂😂all the old boys approaching me asking what im fishing😊gives me great satisfaction.
    There is one buzzer i tied many years ago that is super deadly at Garnffrwyd. Its a black buzzer with a very thin strip of holographic on the back covered with epoxy....i added a GOLD head and found that the big browns went absolutely nuts for this pattern up there. Ive had many big browns fishing the margins and deeper water with this buzzer. This is the one i always go to if i start blanking and others are also struggling around me.
    I used to fish there a few days a week about 10 or so years ago.....my record up there on a good evening rise is around 23-24 fish which was bedlam. Myself and my mate would often compete to see who could catch the most fish and the best quality browns. I should mention that i always fish my buzzers on an indicator, some may not like that but i find it super exciting watching the indicator dissappear under the waters surface.
    I have a great photo here somewhere of a 7 or 8lb brown that i stalked in the margins with that gold head black pattern i mentioned above. That was taken probable a good 15years ago.
    Great stuff.😊🎣

    Nice video Rhys. I have done well at Ellerdine recently. 15 ft leader, snatcher on the top, then a cormie or small organza buzzer with a cormie on the point. Cast typically into a left to right breeze, I'm right handed, and allow the breeze to push the flies towards the bank...

    A question perhaps youve already covered... here ar barrow tanks bristol the day fishing is tough but thr rises on evening are spectacular. Hundreds of fish at your feet non stop.
    But ive struggled to hook except when i sometimes use hopper dropper and create some movement
    Im wondering what tactics best to imitate evening rise for adult buzzer feeding fish?

    Hi mate, im slowly getting there, this style fishing buzzer flys. Rhys what knot do you use with buzzers. I noticed one bloke said you should use a knot with a loop, so the buzzer sits better in water. Im still trying to get my head around these big bright blobs. People laugh at me, but i don't give a shit. Once i master this , who will be laughing. Its spring here, getting the midges on surface, fish are rising to them but i must be doing something wrong as no takes. We are only allowed to fish 3 flys.. any tips mate.

  • @shannonyork5300
    @shannonyork5300 Před 2 lety

    Rhys, Thanks. Helpful as always. When you say "Static is King" are you, therefore, saying that the Bung is King or that you can also achieve a static presentation with a Straight Line technique? Of course, it is not truly "static" as the flies will descend but you can retrieve only what is necessary to stay "in contact" with the flies. Cheers,

    • @RhysFishes
      @RhysFishes  Před 2 lety +1

      You can achieve close to static with straight lining if you balance your leader strength and fly size appropriately based on the strength of the wind and direction etc... (I prefer straight line over fishing the bung). @timjoyceflyfishing-essex has done an excellent video on it which is worth checking out if you haven't already 👍

      Autumn still has enough food around for the fish so don’t give up on the buzzers and nymphs. It just becomes more of a gamble based on the weather conditions. Lures (and lures that represent baitfish) are increasingly popular in autumn as the trout pack on for the winter

    Hi mate as you know I'm trying hard to fish 3 buzzers in Australia, on the sounder the fish are from 12 feet to 5 feet in say 20 foot water. It's spring here, so I have a bead head buzzer in red then 2 black with silver, I think called zebra. Iv tried a strike indicator, but nothing.
    Iv tried a sink line with weighted nymph on point then 2 buzzers. Still nothing. There are shallows everywhere but no rises., what am I doing wrong mate

    • @RhysFishes
      @RhysFishes  Před 2 lety

      Doesn’t sounds like your doing much wrong mate. Play around with fly patterns and sizes, and try and keep the flies as close to static as possible. If the fish aren’t switched onto buzzers then the days of success on that method will be hit and miss. Keep at it

    • @RhysFishes
      @RhysFishes  Před rokem +1

      You can but that slightly changes the angle the buzzers will fish at. With a sight indicator they will fish more on a vertical plane than a horizontal plane. Both work, just on the day one can work more than the other.
