    I think this a great in-between a destination and TT. Easily towable but ment for extended stays at picturesque locations. I would want to use it in a more off grid situation. My suggestion would to throw a HUGE solar package option. Something in the 600-800ah with 800-1000W and a 3000-4000 inverter. Or a way to have an onboard generator. Great looking rig!

    One change to make it perfect.
    Make the curbside porch railing removable in order for provisions to attach a motorcycle ramp to park and haul a motorcycle on the porch.
    It'd be totally awesome to have such a great RV that can haul your motorcycle without having to be a toy hauler.
    EDIT: Make the curbside porch railing a fold up motorcycle ramp!

      As a rider, I was thinking the same thing.

    • @TrashPanda5150
      @TrashPanda5150 Před 8 měsíci +1

      That would have to be a longer ramp than what would fit in the space that railing is in. Look at the angle the rear step is at, that is the angle a built in ramp would be at. That's way too steep to run a bike up. A safe, usable ramp would have to go out out at least 6 feet from the top edge of that patio, probably more like 7 feet. If the flip up ramp went from the floor level all the way to the ceiling of that patio, it might be enough length to run a bike up. Plus, it has to handle a big cruiser bike that's around 800 lbs + the rider. So, minimum 1000 lb capacity.

    • @ZootSuitJZ
      @ZootSuitJZ Před 8 měsíci +2

      @TrashPanda5150 That's why I'm thinking a folding ramp. In the up position it'll go from porch floor to ceiling (about 7 feet), unfolded it would be about 14 feet long.
      ...which might make the RV wheelchair accessible too?

  • @jadelynn1703
    @jadelynn1703 Před 8 měsíci +4

    I want this so bad but without the dishwasher, so there'd be more room. We don't make many dishes in my family. This is just so cool. You could put up screening on the patio to keep the bugs at bay too! So cool.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

      That dishwasher was surface mounted as I recall so should be pretty easy to remove I'd think though it is standard on the build

  • @respectbossmon

    It was bound to happen. They designed a travel trailer with a tiny house style layout. You know that, despite reservations, some will buy these and use them like travel trailers; not like destination models. It will be interesting to learn how they hold up. If they fare well, it wouldn't surprise me when other manufacturers follow Timberwolf's lead with their own versions.
    Personally, I love this concept. Porches are cool. I think solar would be great with all that roof space. The biggest issue would be where to locate the extra batteries? The ceiling fan is a must with that high ceiling, either to circulate heat or cooled air. Unless this model has thick walls and double-pane windows I imagine it wouldn't be optimal in coldest or hottest weather. That wall o' appliances is pretty cool; especially that dishwasher. I'd hope for a 50A power connection for those days I want to run the A/C, wash some clothes, and microwave a bag of popcorn at the same time. Stairs are the way to go with bedroom lofts. Ladders are, as they used to say in the UK, Right Out!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Oh i'm sure people will buy them for towing and I'm sure there are stores that will tell them It's A-OK. I won't be one of them though.
      to me it's still a destination trailer and with that hitch weight it feels like a 3/4 ton tow when you are moving it

    This looks almost perfect. If they could find a way to give more headroom in the shower for us taller folks, then it'd be perfect. It also couldn't hurt to try to do some kind of aerodynamic front cap. I love this idea and am curious to see if it really takes off.

  • @Hemifan4266
    @Hemifan4266 Před 20 dny

    Josh, I know this is an older video, but my wife and I looked at this unit. Here would be a suggestion. Move the bedroom over the deck, lose the second small loft. Make an option for a pull out sofa or recliners in the living room, that way you could sleep some kids or another couple. Put a sky light in the bathroom. I am 5'9" tall and the shower is just to low. That way, you could lower the front of the trailer, get a taller ceiling in the bathroom and make the trailer reasonably towable. Add solar and an inverter. It is a cool concept, but would only work for a few situations. We really liked it, but trying to tow the thing would really be a pain, particularly in the wind and rain. Just a our two cents.

    Well THIS looks Fun!!! My suggestions; if it’s billed as off grid capable then it should definitely have solar standard with an optional extended package that way it could operate without propane. Swap out stove for induction cooktop add convection microwave where the stove is. Omit dishwasher- free up counter space and delete that weird glass washer thing. Love the fireplace but it could be downstairs where that table is. Remove that wonky table and add another staircase for the 2nd loft.

      I agree with you about the solar, but not about the induction stove. Just my opinion, but heating and cooking with electricity rarely makes sense to me as it just uses too much battery capacity and a gas range uses very little propane. If you really want an induction cook top, it is easy enough to just plug in a portable unit, but much harder to add in a gas range and oven.

It's much better than a tiny home because it's shorter and can still be moved a lot easier but still have all of the comforts you would need...and then some. I would love to see manufacturers at least offer the option for a large solar package from the factory, on every model they can fit such an option. I know this isn't really designed for moving that often but a V-nose that tapered down on the top as well couldn't hurt the efficiency aspect, plus it gives space for enclosed propane and battery storage.

    I love the direction this is going. For me, as a park camper mostly, an adequate solar package to tend the battery would be enough and off road tires need not apply. The total and complete lack of outside storage is a consideration. That said, I don't know if I would give up any interior amenities for it as I have a truck with a bed to cart gear around. Though that does introduce a bit more work into the equation on every trip.

One could work around the fact that there is no outside storage with very little trouble.

    Finally, instead of obsessing with “storage” that’s a bunch of randomly placed tiny compartments it’s a camper that’s livable with usable interior storage. If you need more storage, put the crap it in the tow vehicle.
    They could come out with a hard side pop up for the upper loft level to make it more aerodynamic for towing.

Basically eliminate the need to poke holes in the roof if you do want to do solar but not put all the cost into every unit. This one is still a little rough around the edges, like missing rear view camera and low hanging sewer connection piping just begging to be snagged on something and ripped off. Relocate those so you won’t be snagging them as you move across camp site or access road obstructions, and you’ve got something here. The washer/dryer AND Dishwasher combo is a treat.

    I actually saw one of these at a dealership in Royse City TX yesterday. It looks nice however I personally don’t feel like it’s something you want to be traveling with. It looks like it’s going to fly apart. I give it 1k miles before things get loose, 3k miles before things start falling apart. I think it’s better suited for a lake lot owner’s get away point, meant to be transported as minimally as possible

    Thanks Josh, I saw a preview of this on another channel and it is great to get your full walk-through. With this one I would for sure want huge inverters so I could run everything except maybe the washer and dryer, but that would still be nice. I would personally put every panel I could on that to get to 1200 watts at least. I like the overall idea. I am not sure about the steps and the shower having big feet the stairs look small and the shower for sure is too short, but might work with the seat.

    it really needs big solar package with 2-3kw of solar + 15-25kwh of battery and a good 3000-4000w inverter. i would replace the cooktop with an induction and replace the oven with a microwave/airfryer combo unit. the unit is laid out in a tiny-home feel and function and they need to equip it as such. if they put the airfry/microwave combo above the stovetop and use the bottom for a dishwasher you can use the counter top on the other side as more storage.

    This is a great tiny home. No amount of saying its not will change my mind. I'd definitely drop it on a site with a good solar package and maybe occasionally drive it somewhere. You almost have to have a 3/4 ton to tow it and most people dont have that

    Josh: WELL I've got to say this Cherokee no slide RV definitely hits almost all the marks. It has the rolling bed, head and mess bases all covered and it's rest stop and truck stop accessible. But it might be a smidge too tall to fit in our barn for winter storage and it might be another smidge too heavy for our Chevy baby duramax 1500 Silverado to safely or easily tow. But other than that, this looks like a nice niche camper that fits well between a well equipped 5th wheel and a park model RV. And who knows, maybe with a little corporate engineering tweaking to the sewer, water and electric connections this could be Cherokee’s gateway into marketing tiny homes. It’s likely to be some person or family’s perfect living solution. Respectfully, W.S.

    This has my interest. It's everything I could ever want in a travel trailer for full-time living. The hard part is deciding how frequently and easily I can tow it, let's say, a couple of hours from the home station for a quick getaway for a week or more. My second option is the XLR boost 27 qbx, But it's very hard to get towing reviews on how it feels to tow all of these travel trailers. To get more information on the towability and ease of maneuverability.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

    Very unique. It makes me think of a houseboat. I'd treat it more as a destination trailer in place of a cabin. Its size would work well for a property with minimal flat space such as you have in the mountains.With that use I would want a good sized solar system.
    The tankless water heater would have to go as it can't be used in cold weather which defeats the purpose of using it on a mountain property.

    The small loft ladder should be in the middle of the rv, with the sofa and table swapped and the rear door on the camp side instead of centered. The rear patio should have the steps on the camp side rather than the rear, and if you made the patio about 2ft longer you could still have two chairs side by side. Max factory solar would be nice. I think keeping the 'camp side' focus would make it reach more of an audience, and the loft ladder being in the middle would let that space function better.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 8 měsíci

  • @ajsomp
    @ajsomp Před 3 měsíci

    I honestly considered this concept for the campground I’m going to be living at the next year. I won’t be traveling with it, I have some amenities at the lot to include a dock, outdoor shower, covered patio etc. so I’d be okay with smaller interior and reasonable house like qualities. It’s also small enough to tow with my half ton rather than having to upgrade trucks or have it delivered to and from. I know they call this a travel trailer but I couldn’t see moving it more than a few times before having some issues - I could be wrong though.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Před 3 měsíci

  • @CF542
    @CF542 Před 8 měsíci

    Wow, this is a really fascinating design. I see a few potential issues though and one recommendation: First issue is that most campgrounds I've been to would not be friendly to a rear entrance and you'd likely be stepping in the weeds or mud getting in an out. Second issue is that really lo frame and sewer hookups. I could see it bottoming out while going over curbs or any uneven ground. One suggestion is they build a front storage box that could contain the battery and allow you to keep cords and tubes in. Also, where's the spare tire?

  • @jcom86

    Love this idea but the kitchen area needs reworking, there’s not enough countertop space. I would like to see the recliner removed and the counter top extended out with some more storage or the extra space can be used for a bigger oven and a convection microwave. If they use a 10.2 fridge instead of the residential fridge they can expand the countertop space on that side as well. Dishwasher seems like a waste to me but that’s a personal preference.

    This is a really cool RV, but I suppose the practical side of me can’t get over the lost space due to the covered patio. Instead, a fold-down patio for when you are at your destination added length when towing, but added space (main floor bedroom, added living space) for the majority of the time.

    I love the idea and I hope they make this a family of RVs. I'd love another few feet added for kitchen space and storage. Not sure how to accomplish more head height in the shower but that would be a must for me at 6'2". Beyond that, i love this setup for like a guest house or destination trailer idea. Can't see spending a month here like some 40+foot destination rigs but a long weekend to a week would be an adorable getaway

  • @clintlewis1715

    This is the second model of this I've seen. The other was the larger version. The only thing nice about the interior on these, is the kitchen. Unfortunately, the kitchen should be at the other end with easy access to the deck/outside. The larger version does have a side door, making it a little more practical for RV parks.
    Obviously, the low ceiling height in the shower is due to the loft above it. So, it would make more sense for the bathroom to be more centrally located to get more height, even if you have to sacrifice some bathroom space.
    A more functional layout would be along the lines of the kitchen at the deck end, giving easy access to the outside from the kitchen/dining area. Add a dedicated dinette along the opposite side. Bathroom space directly behind the dinette, leaving the kitchen open to the living/entertainment space at the other end. Then add a side access door.
    The electric fireplace/heater location is just dumb. Heat rises. If the idea is for having an auxiliary heat source, having it in the loft make no sense at all.
