    Small sample size but these first 2 games he's actually played better on defense. As far the ref thing he isn't nearly as bad as he was last season, hell the other night he told Grant to quit chirping at the refs and get back to the bench during a timeout. We'll see how long it lasts as the season goes on.

      I think the refs thing is childish, but it also has to be said that nobody gets treated as bad by the refs as Luka and i totally understand his frustration. The defensive scheme of most teams against Luka is to foul him several times every possession, especially on drives to the basket and that is because they know that 90% of fouls against luka will not be called, just compare what it takes for Luka to get a call compared to a smaller star guard like Damian Lillard for example, it is absurd. Just in the last game against the nets, there was a sequence of 3 mavs possessions in a row that all ended in a blatant foul on Luka that did not get called, and i mean no discussion obvious fouls and that just does not happen to any other player in the league.

    Tha NBA and people around it have still not realized what a generational talent Luka Doncic is. They are talking about Victor beeing the greatest NBA prospect ever and do not realize that the biggest talent basketball has ever seen is playing right in front their eyes in Luka Doncic. Luka doninated Europe on a very different level and from a european perspective it is absurd to claim victor is the better prospect. So far, Luka is on the way to become a top 3 player of all time, he is already a hall of famer even if he ends his career this second, he had the best start to a NBA career we have ever seen, while draging teams that would be the worst team in the league without him to the WCF final.

    • @hb-robo

      Prospects aren’t just rated by their talent at the time of the draft, it’s also about projecting skills and where they bring elite value. Luka was unquestionably better than Wemby at the times they were drafted, but Victor was also an utterly dominant player in a professional league on both ends and the potential is obvious. If you put them both in the same draft today, Luka goes before for the certainty, if they were both getting drafted in 2018 Wemby is absolutely going above him.

    It’s true about his defense. But after watching the first 4 games he’s has turned a page and is being more aware. He had a couple of solid defense plays especially in closing minutes of games. Just hope he can keep it up through out the season. Also lively has made a huge contribution with getting rebounds for this team besides Luka.

  • @Alex-xn8pq
    @Alex-xn8pq Před 7 měsíci +1

    Tim mentions the defence of the "top guys on the top tier teams" in the NBA but all of them are superior athletes (LeBron, Jason T, Yannis) except Jokic. The Joker and Luka have similar build and will not ever be fast enough to switch on the perimeter. Of course, Jokic doesn't have to do that so that lack is not noticable. Luke plays on the perimeter so switching will always be a problem for him. He has stepped up on his defence this year but what I have seen is his effort in the paint where he has come up with a couple of stops and a couple of steals. This is where he is effective with those quick hands and strong build.

    I think Luka is gonna make a solid positive progression as a defender this year because of the new construct of the team around him. More specifically, having Kyrie for the full season and competent offensive players in the rotation.
    Any fan with half a brain knows about the scorer's relief effect. Regardless of how great of a defender a player may be, if the offense is always running through them, they are basically allowed to use defensive plays as a time for rest. Kawhi was a prime example. He was a DPOY level defender, but once he had to take over as the main scoring option, his defense took a hit. Now that Luka doesn't have to create 95% of the offense, he can put in more effort on defense.

    Get Kenyon Martin on the pod. I think we would all like him to go deeper on his Luka take. Arenas was too timid to do anything, so he just went for "production wise" like a freaking bi a tch. But hey, Luka would be cooked one on one, which as we all know translates to rings :) ;)

    but this is nba, nba is different there is no safe 20 point lead win. you need to accept the facts that no matter how you win atleast you win. Don't imagine that you can win in a 30 point lead, this is nba. if you win by one point in a difficulty lay up against the difficult defense. that's. is a basketball

Why do some people always have to start with stupid topics that have no meaning other than to try to insult the player with them.

    The league is still allowing flopping, nothing has changed. He has almost as many FT made as he does FG made, not attempts. His stats just like Embiids and Harden from his past prime are heavily inflated. All great players but until they start playing their opponents and not the refs who cares, this isn’t what competition is.

      I get that but he's going to play to that advantage while it's there given his strength, if they removed that type of reffing you'd see him shoot the 3 a lot more and take more easy less contested buckets. It's not really a knock on Luka
